This place was better 2 years ago! They screw with the prices.......youth clothing will be charged as adult "they obviously dont go to the mall or real stores to distinguish the difference between kids and adult"!!!! Kids to adult price are doubled, so if your shopping for kids be prepared to pull out extra money because even if you argue "that is a child clothing~ using FACTS of manufacture inside label they look at you like (YOU ARE DUMB....WE DON'T CARE.......SOOOO DO YOU WANT IT OR NOT!!!! Now if your buying a single item and this happens its tolerable...becaise its a deal anyway! However when it is done multiple times your tab can shoot from estimated $50 to $100 at the register! Its embarrassing if your not prepared for the "Time to ruin your lucky day" and you go from happy excited to shoot yourself because there is a line behind you and NOW YOU DONT HAVE ENOUGH FOR HALF OF THE ITEMS YOU WERE EXCITED FOR AND NOW YOU HAVE TO CHOOSE WHAT TO TAKE OFF THE TAB....WITH A FAT LINE DESPERATE PEOPLE HOLDING BREAKABLES, and choosing between them is so hard because you took your dedicated time choosing them for a specific reason per garment! So at then end of it all, your sweating, half your outfits are ruined, and the poor line! You walk out with only half you bargained for due to pressure at the register......THE REST YOU CANT GET BECAUSE EVEN THOUGH THE MANUFACTURE OF THE CLOTHING DESIGNED IT FOR A CHILD**THE STORE OWNS IT NOW, AND WANTS TO SELL IT AT A ADULT PRICE INSTEAD! Poor integrity, like charging for real china plates, when their NOT! When your spending 100$ or more at a time.....this does become frustrating, and can kill your day because you not shopping for fun and WANTS, your shopping there because you have little income and your family is in need! If you cant understand the feeling then im sorry, but ot could be better if they were honest about what was "NOT ADULT"! Its funny when their is two employees trying to decide amongs themselves RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOU.....what it is! Ohhhhh! THEY WILL JACK UR YOUR TAB BASED ON OPINION SOLELY, and ignore the "child size 10" sewn in the pant! Again a tab from $200 to $400 could be your fait when up there with a huge line behing you! HAVE...
Read moreI always love going to thrift shops; the Hospice Thrift Shoppe on Clayton Road in Concord is one of my favourite thrift shops. It's a good store size; it's not a giant store, but it's not small either. You'll find plenty of clothes here for young and older women. Not much for men or children though. They have plenty of kitchen items, all sorts. They have plenty of knick-knacks. They also have furniture, some truly nice-looking. They have tons of books and CDs. Also ladies, they have jewelry as well. They do have sales quite frequently, as well as special events such as the Vintage Sale, coming up weekend of 9/15/18.
I always enjoy coming in here every Saturday or Sunday. The staff is very friendly, and they always play 50ies, 60ies, and occasionally 70ies music. A fun place to go to, even if you're not buying anything. Don't forget - every purchase you make supports the hospice that they run.
One more note - they also have a store in Walnut Creek and Martinez that I occasionally go to. They may also have other stores that I'm not aware...
Read moreI wish I could give them 0 stars. My aunt and I frequent many local thrift shops and this one in Concord has the most sparse selection. I had a very large amount of items to donate and decided to schedule for them to pick up, since they looked like they needed it the most by far. The truck came and picked through and scattered my items and took only a few things and did NOT take the leather couch in perfect, clean condition as previously arranged. I will never donate or shop there again. It was my understanding that they would take everything, unless the couch was deemed in poor condition. Their coming by to cherry pick makes me...
