I have never posted this bad of a review. I ALWAYS try to let a business rectify a situation before posting…as I did for this. We stayed here for the second time on April 17th (technically checked in on 4/18) to cut our late night drive from San Antonio to South Padre Island in half. The first time we stayed, it was mediocre but was fine for the purpose. This was the last time we will ever stay at this property. We arrived about 1am and the front desk attendant was not very personable and didn’t offer us points or perks for Platinum Elite status as we have received in the past. We chalked it up to her being young and it being the overnight shift and figured we would just deal with it at checkout. We got to 413 and got ready for bed. As I always do, I checked the bedding for bugs and instead found remnants of vomit on the comforter. At that point, it was almost 1:30 and we had to leave by 5:45. We had worked all day, flown across country at night then drove 2 hours. We were exhausted and didn’t have the energy to deal with changing rooms or waiting for the bedding to be changed. As you can see by the 4th picture below, we pulled it to the floor and slept with just the sheet. When we went to leave at 5:45, we had to wait for someone to help us at the desk. It ended up being the same person. I showed the pictures and expressed my disgust. She seemed absolutely unfazed and never even apologized. I asked to speak to the manager and she told me she wouldn’t be in until later that day and pointed to the card that I already had taken. I tried calling (no luck) and then sent an email to the manager later that day. I never received a response. We waited until 4/22 to call Marriott’s customer service. The agent there offered us 5,000 points and put in a formal complaint and request for response from the property because we denied the measly offering of points. We were told to give 5-7 business days for a response. As of 5/3, we have not received a response from anyone. This is unacceptable as a property carrying the Marriott name and for the Marriott company itself. Besides the grossness of the comforter alone, it is a health risk as it was clearly bodily fluids that were not even washed between guests. I added a picture of the bathroom wall from the door to show the lack of care that this hotel has. This would typically not be an issue for us for the purpose of the stay as we knew it was simply just a place to get a few hours of rest. However, I am adding it because I want the next person to know what to expect all around. This is not the type of service that we expect and could not be more disappointed all around.

We had a weekend trip to North Padre but couldn't find a nice place last minute and I ended up finding this gem only 20 minutes from the beach! We were really happy with our stay and the services provided. Check in was seamless and was able to do an early check in. The lobby was beautifully decorated and had a double sided fireplace. Our double queen room was very spacious and spotless. All the appliances in the room were very well kept. I was impressed that although this was a pet friendly hotel you wouldn't have known. There were no unpleasant smells or dog hair anywhere in sight. The pet fee was $75 for the entire stay. The breakfast offered was good, it's your standard breakfast (eggs, potatoes, bacon, sausage, waffles, cereals, yogurt, bagels, coffee, juice, ect..) but everything was hot and tatsted good. They had a wide selection of toppings for yogurts which was nice for the kids. The pool was beautiful and they had the pool towels well stocked. We saw people grilling out in the pool area. I appreciated the pools being open early and closing late (7-11). The bar was very lively on Saturday night everyone seemed to be having a good time. They had a filtered water system by the elevators which was so convenient to have. The gym was super well kept and they had a lot of different gym equipment they even had a filtered water dispenser and its own restroom inside the gym area. I also really appreciate that they had a security guard at night time patrolling the vehicles, it gave us a little peace of mind. The location was a few minutes to lots of shops and dining places. I cant say enough good things about our stay, they even have free cookies by the reception area. To top it off the sweet lady upfront helped me look for my charm that I lost in the lobby when I left my braclet in the room after our late check out. This is our go to place from now on without a doubt.

Agree with previous reviewers about the bad construction and workmanship. Very sad for a new hotel to look like it's an older property. It's like the stuff was installed with no quality control or inspections whatsoever. Marriott needs to do better. Our floors were sticky and I had to clean them myself with disinfectant wipes. The bathroom was grimey and I almost fainted seeing the dirty footprints around the toilet. I cleaned those too (with gloves) and that filth needs a steamer clean because it's still there. I felt better knowing I cleaned it but we still wore our shoes in the room. The shower caulking was coming off, saw hair that wasn't mine and there were chips in the shower base. I mean come on...this is a new property and it's already in this rundown condition? Nope, it's shoddy work and Marriott still opened this property knowing that the work was substandard. My shower leaked too so we placed towels to capture the water flowing into the floor. It's never a good sign when you have to clean your room yourself. Zoom into my photos for the shoddy workmanship. Room has modern decor and bed, bedding were decent. Too bad the floors we dirty. We stayed in room 423.

I am so sad to be disappointed in this place. It looks so nice and has a really good location but I think because it's new, it may not be properly staffed.

We stayed for 4th of July and walking into the place, it looked beautiful and clean. Nice decor, very open lobby, good looking full bar, and a nice space for their complimentary breakfast.

At first glance, our room looked really nice too. We booked a 2 queen studio with sofa bed. It was spacious with a good layout. Upon closer inspection though, it was clear the room was not cleaned other than the beds. The floor was gritty with sand, the shower floor was littered with black spots. At first we thought it was stained from multiple uses but after we turned on the shower, we realized it was just dirty and not cleaned. The personal size lotion bottle the hotel provides was also used. They aren't the refillable ones but the ones hotels use to provide for individual use.

The biggest issue we had was the A/C unit broke on us during our stay. When we came back from watching the fireworks, the room was hot. We asked the front desk for help to check the unit and Security came up to take a look. After changing batteries, he finally said there was not anything he can do and a work order will be placed for someone to fix it in the morning. Unfortunately due to the holiday, the hotel was sold out and they couldn't move us. I had to ask if they had any fans or anything we can use. So my family, including my 2 year old, had to try to sleep with one of those blowers they use to dry out flooded areas. Needless to say, it was not a restful night.

A lot of this, I think it's because the hotel was understaffed. Whenever we needed anything, conditions was out, needed more towels, etc....we called and was told we needed to go downstairs to the front desk to get it. It wasn't even late in the evening. With it being a holiday and the hotel is sold out, I would have expected them to have enough staff on hand.

I'm really sad because this hotel looked like it has potential.

One good thing we did like and appreciate is their bottle filler. It was nice having clean, easy accessible...
