My wife and I spent 4 nights (Monday through Friday) at the Springhill Suites in Cottonwood. Overall, it was a pleasant stay with just a few things preventing it from being a great stay. The property appears to be fairly new, and the luster hasn't worn off yet, i.e. everything is still bright and shiny. We booked a king "Suite" and were given a room on the second floor upon checking in. The room was painfully small and it really doesn't seem to qualify as a suite in the traditional sense. The sitting area is only separated from the sleeping area by some part high sliding glass panels. The couch is a combination trundle bed/sofa and it is fairly uncomfortable to sit on as the cushions are really deep from front to back. The long bolster doesn't help any. Closet space is adequate and accommodates hanging clothes. There are only two side by side bureau drawers to store anything that doesn't go into the closet. If you're the type who likes to unpack rather than living out of a suitcase you may find space lacking for even two people. ||There is a microwave and mini-fridge along with a single cup coffee maker however, there is no bar sink so anything you want to rinse off or clean has to be done in the bathroom sink. Noticeably absent was a safe and I found myself having to take my laptop and other valuable with me whenever I left the room for the day. I didn't have much interaction with staff, but the few encounters were pleasant.||It was a little too cool to spend time at the pool, but I did notice that the pool and the pool area are pretty sterile and not too inviting for hanging out. The fire pit area was a nice touch and we noticed that it was being used fairly regularly in the evenings. There is a filtered water dispenser in the work out room and I used it to top off my water bottle(s) on a daily basis.||The morning breakfast seemed adequate but nothing to really make it memorable. Bagged single serve muffins, bread and a couple of bagels, two or three cereals from a dispenser, some yogurt and three hot pans where scrambled eggs from a carton, bacon or sausage and breakfast biscuits resided. No pancake or waffle machine. There was a pot of oatmeal with a small toppings bar too. Not present were any type of Danish or croissants, or fresh fruit. There was some salsa available but no tortillas which I found kind of strange.||So again, a relatively pleasant stay devoid of any real problems but it wouldn't take much to elevate the user experience by adding just a few...
Read moreMy husband and I stayed here last night on our way to Sedona. I was a little nervous about staying here as the check in process was anything but effortless, especially after a long day of traveling. However, this morning completely changed that for us. We were greeted by Kathy in the lobby where the breakfast was being served. Not only was she helpful, but was genuinely friendly and gave us a ton of suggestions on what to do in Sedona and near by places. It was close to 930 when breakfast was over but immediately offered to make me something fresh (which she didn’t have to do at all!) she talked to us like she had been friends with us for years. Also, the gentleman at the front desk was very nice when we were checking out. Seemed like a totally different place than the night before. Also, this hotel is new and still has the new smell! The room was clean and immaculate! The fridge and microwave are in a cabinet when you walk in just a helpful hint. Also loved there was a place to put my suitcase near the bed! The only cons I would say is the room we were in the shower leaked really bad while showering as it seemed like the seal wasn’t put on correctly at the bottom. Also, it seemed like construction didn’t finish putting the outlets on the nightstand. There’s a hole and then you can’t get to the outlets unless you get on your hands on knees and feel around completely underneath it. I have a CPAP, but the cord was long so it was okay. I just plugged in my phone charger in the outlet in the desk across the room. All in all- it was a great stay! And again, Kathy is amazing! I hope everyone has the chance to come in contact with her...
Read moreNot a good visit. First of all, be warned they charge $4.00 for a 12 ounce bottle of Aquafina and do not provide any complimentary waters. I'm a Marriott member and they did not offer any free waters at check-in and there are none in the room. The worst part was the AC unit in the room began making a high pitched "chirping" sound at about 3AM on the second night of our stay. It sounded like an angry cricket was trapped inside. It could have been a squeaky fan belt or bearing or some type. Regardless we didn't get much sleep as a result and after about any hour I shut it off. Lastly they didn't have any citrus fruits at breakfast, no oranges, no bananas. Only fresh fruit I could locate was a bin of apples. Bananas are so inexpensive, why not provide bananas?
I received the manager's response today to my complaint and have posted it below. Instead of attempting to amend the situation, it was just a list of excuses..
My apologies that you did not enjoy your stay. The cost of our Market items are in line with typical costs of other hotels. There are also water bottle filling stations available free of charge around the hotel which you may utilize next time. Bananas and Oranges are out of season at the moment, so we had fresh apples available at breakfast as a healthy fruit option. And lastly, I'm sorry about the noisy AC unit. I will have my engineer look at it right away.
Please do come back and visit us again - I hope your next stay is more enjoyable.
Sincerely, D.K. Green General...
