Baymont by Wyndham Crestview — Hotel in Crestview

I don't normally write reviews after my stay at a hotel (and we stay at many), but I feel this one is necessary. Last year we avoided this hotel based on reviews we read. This year, because of having to cancel earlier reservations, we had to make a reservation here at Baymont. While we drove here, we read more recent reviews. Immediately I tried to find another hotel, not caring I would have to pay a cancellation fee. Nothing else was open for our dates. So we agreed to look at the room prior to paying for it. They gave us our key to look...we found A CLEAN ROOM, NO BUGS,NO LEAKY TOILETS, NO HOLES IN WALLS, NO DEAD ROACHES ON LAMPSHADES, NO PLUGS HANGING OUT OF WALLS AND CERTAINLY NO NASTY PEOPLE AT THE FRONT DESK.The other complaints we read was pot smoking and being scared to leave rooms after dark. NO POT SMELLS ANYTIME WE LEFT ROOM, NEVER ANYTHING AROUND TO FEAR AT NIGHT, ACTUALLY VERY QUIET AND PEACEFUL HERE. We have been here a week now and not one bug, not even an ant. Friendly staff day and night. Beautiful outdoor pool that we spent a lot of time in, day and night. To those of you that left bogus bad reviews Simply to get your money back because you spent over your budget, thank you, it left open rooms for the rest of us to prove you wrong. 4 of us stayed in 1 room for 6 days. During that time the sheets were not changed, the coffee machine was not supplied, and replacement towels were not put in the room. We had to place the trash outside the room for pick up. The manager claimed that like others in the area, they do not do carry overs. That meant that we ended up going to the office on a daily basis to pick up the needed items. Most times there were not 4 towels available, so multiple trips. I could not call down because the phone was missing a connector to the wall and the clip on the handset was broken. After a day, I got 1 of those wires dropped in my room. They never connected or tested the phone. The chair and bed skirt were covered in nail polish. The rack for hanging clothes had collapsed into a U shape. The outer door closed with a gap, so the roaches had no problem getting in. The tissue box was an empty metal cover. Lastly, although the CDC changed its guidance, the old advisory was used as an excuse to not provide the free breakfasts. The manager blamed this on lack of instructions from the parent corporation. She also blamed government subsidies for reducing her workforce. Apparently, paying them a better wage was out of the question. If this hotel had decent service and upkeep to the rooms, then this could be a 2 star. For now, it is 1 star. Any claim for it being 3...

It was VERY DISAPPOINTING. I am embarrassed for Wyndham that they would allow their name on this particular hotel. I didn't realize Wyndham had hotels as nasty as the worst Motel-6 hotels, it was really that bad.||1) non-smoking room has strong smoke smell, very frustrating.|2) only a sheet on bed, no blankets. Had to go back to front desk when I realized.|3) light by bed not working, bad bulb, Had to go back to front desk for replacement bulb when I realized.|4) toilet was leaking onto floor.|5) No hair dryer in room in spite of room description saying room has hair dryers, which we did not take with us due to hotel website description. Had to go back to front desk when I realized and they found one for us.|6) refrigerator was just a hair cooler than room temp. We had cold cuts we intended to store in refrigerator over nite. Again, very frustrating.||These are not slight over sites that got by them. They absolutely had to know of these issues before they rented out the room, and they simply did not give a crap. The night time front desk worker was polite, and you can tell she was embarrassed over the hotel condition, after my multiple trips back to the front desk. ||I used hotel points for this stay.....and I still feel I paid too much.||Very disappointing.
