I'll sort of walk through the many disappointments we discovered after booking our evening here.
To start with, the glowing description of the place, by the place, says it's got a restaurant, room service, and a bar. Well, nope, nope and nope. When I asked about their restaurant, the desk clerk pointed me to a restaurant next door. And of course, without a restaurant, room service doesn't exist. The bar? Well, fairly nice looking but not in operation.
The hotel itself is worn out, tired and not well maintained. I was very surprised to encounter this level of neglect at a Hilton. The place reminded me of a '70s discount chain motel.
After loading our stuff onto a wobbly cart that was also poorly maintained and ready for retirement, we summoned the elevator. After a bit, the poor thing arrived wth a grinding, shuffling clatter. We got in and hit our floor's button. With a jerk, the elevator began its climb, laboring to get us to our floor as it rattled and wheezed its way up. The door opened with a loud scraping sound.
We walked to our room on dingy carpeting that smelled of perfumed cleaning solution. We then got to our room. The tub was dirty and the soaps and such were in refillable pump bottles. There were two brackets on the shower wall with the pump bottles and what looked like a piece of duct tape covering a hole or something where a third bottle was supposed to be. That bottle, with its attachment for where it was to fit into the missing bracket, sat on the edge of the tub.
During the night, we discovered that there were train tracks less than one hundred feet from our window. Trains passed by a few times during the night. I understand that the hotel management had nothing to do with that, but maybe Hilton would be expected to choose a better location?
The final insult was all the fees and extra charges. Free parking? Nope. Free breakfast? Nope. A $50 pet fee that I don't object to but it's part of a system that seems designed to add as much as possible to the advertized rate. They also added a refundable $50 in case our "rockstar party" trashed the place. Compared to other places where we've stayed, the expense here was right up there among the likes of 4 star hotels. This would only generously be rated 2 stars.
A guarantee that they'll do what it takes to meet your expectations is absolutely pointless, except for management as it tries to overcome reality. When I brought some of my concerns to the manager's attention and asked how the guarantee to make things right would work here, she just shrugged her shoulders. I guess that was consistent with the level of concern for their guests shown in the many other things we encountered.
The whole place was poorly maintained and thought out. This seems to be a perfect reflection of the concern given to guests.
All in all, this was one of the most disappointing hotel stays I've ever had.
As I look through other reviews, management does what seems consistent with how they honor their guarantee to make things right. They do nothing except for apologizing and promising things have been fixed. They have not been fixed. That claim seems to represent the integrity with which this...
Read moreI pass by this hotel all the time on my way to work. It looked so nice on the outside I decided to book a stay through QuadPay.....trynna ball on a budget....HOWEVER they didn’t allow me to check in because no one was in the office to verify my credit card authorization form allowing QuadPay to pay for my room. (WHICH WAS THE WHOLE POINT OF MY STAY. Meaning I pay in installments ad QuadPay covers the hotel room) Since no one could verify my credit authorization form (due to them being in a “very important meeting about another location they will be opening up soon”) the front desk lady was like there’s nothing we can do. Me still wanting to stay I made it to where I could pay $100 on one card and the rest on another card. (Initially I didn’t plan to spend as much) HOWEVER, there system doesn’t allow them to pay any other way then either full price or splitting the bill. So because I only had $100 on one card and the rest on another card I was not able to check into the hotel. I asked if there was a discount they could do to get it to where I can have one card charged $100 and the rest on another card. The lady stated you already have a discounted room so we have already done our best to help you ma’am. There’s nothing more we can do. So I rate this hotel VERY POORLY because they don’t do everything they can for the customer. An their platform shouldn’t be on QuadPay if they can’t make credit authorizations the same day. I wasted an hour trying to check in just to get denied because there system only works if you are only paying with 1 card or splitting the bill. There’s no way to have a specific amount charged if you want a certain amount on 1 card and the rest on another.
This may just be #BrokeGirlProblems but the front desk lady was so quick to say we’re doing everything they can when in fact they weren’t. I really wanted to stay at that hotel but I will never be visiting that hotel again. They put a really bad taste in my mouth in regards to their customer service. I work in costumer service and I do everything I can to help the customer REALLY. And I can say that they did not. Nor did they care. The attitude was, “you can’t pay then just leave. We only want rich people here. We know we can charge their card...
Read moreBeware...this hotel hosts "events" that last until 10pm, in our experience, in the outside courtyard that will sound as if the party is in your room! I originally booked this hotel for 5 nights. I used the Hilton app to check in and arrived at the hotel at my requested check in time of 3pm. The front desk clerk explained housekeeping was behind and asked that I return shortly after 4pm. I arrived back at the hotel at 4:15pm and my room was still not ready. The front desk clerk offered to call me when the room was ready. After going to an early dinner, I decided to check on my room again at 5:30 and was told it was still not ready. I sat in the lobby and watched guest after guest carry luggage to the elevators, seemingly able to check in. After visiting the front desk yet again, I was informed that the room I was assigned during the "app check-in" was the reason for the delay. Apparently, I should never check in using the Hilton app? I was offered an "upgrade" and a different room away from the railroad tracks. When returning to the hotel at 8pm after an exhausting day of travel, we heard a DJ and loud dance party underway in the courtyard outside of the "upgraded" room. I asked the front desk clerk when the party would end and was informed that they were scheduled until 10pm. Upon reaching our room, the DJ and music were incredibly loud--so loud that I have a video that I would love to share with someone. The music sounded as if it were inside our room rather than below our balcony. The railroad tracks would have been preferable! I called the front desk to complain about the noise level inside of our room with no recourse, only being told that they host "events". I promptly canceled the next 4 nights and scheduled a new reservation at the UC Davis Hyatt (a wonderful experience). To add insult to injury, I was charged $455.00 per night for this miserable hotel stay at the Hilton Garden Inn...
