I wrote a VERY long review an hour ago and then was interrupted but TripAdvisor timed me out. Their loss. They should have saved it as a draft and I find this feature on their site frustrating!||I’ll briefly recap my review:|Newly refurbished hotel, very clean everywhere, friendly employees. Great back area with pool, hot tub and bar outside. Lots of seating. New furniture outside. Inside the back door is a dining area and bar that is very nice. We bonded with the bartender, who was wonderful! Breakfast was to order. We were platinum members and were each allowed a free breakfast from a special menu. We were also given a $10 breakfast ticket and a $10 voucher to be used during our visit. ||Check-in went smoothly. The lobby had a sitting area that’s very nice. Since I’m sensitive to smells I found the Febreze/Lysol they used overwhelming. However, the smell was only in the lobby, thankfully. ||There are 2 small elevators, one near the lobby and one towards the back by the dining room. Elevators were a bit slow. ||When I entered our room the balcony door was wide open and the TV on. I immediately assumed the room was occupied. I left the room and called the front desk from the hallway phone. Eventually, someone was sent up to investigate and the room was found empty. ||Our room had all new furniture and had recently been painted and caulked. The bathroom was sparse but new and had a step-in shower with a nice shower head as well as a handheld wand. Toiletries included only soap, a makeup remover pad and lotion. The shampoo bottle, attached to the wall, ran out. I would suggest they top it off with every reservation. There were plenty of towels in the bathroom. There was a nice makeup mirror on the sink counter. ||The beds were well made. A quilt inside a duvet. The room very clean as well as the windows and glass on the balcony railing. Note: The balcony could be safe for both small children and small (but not tiny) dogs. There were 2 chairs and a small table with a cigarette burn and some ashes. The balcony was wonderful for me during our stay but I had thought about having the balcony swept and mopped because of the sand and some previous stains. The balcony was the ONLY area not cleaned as nicely as the rest of the hotel. So maybe I’m being picky.||The room darkening blinds were great. A bit short, though. One drape had black paint at the bottom that hung over a floor type AC unit that worked quite well actually. The thermostat was new and kept the room cold all night! Wonderful!! I couldn’t smell any mold or mildew in the room which meant to me that the maintenance on the AC was up to date. ||The room was a bit sandy when we arrived, perhaps from the balcony door being open? Because there are NO throw rugs in this room I ended up using a towel to wipe my feet off before getting into bed.||There was a very nice, long desk with plenty of plug ins and ports. Also a nice desk lamp with ports and plug ins. At the sides of each bed the ports and plug ins were also available. Am I being redundant?||There was a new refrigerator that was very cold, a new microwave, a safe and an old style but new coffee maker, different brand of hair and body soap, ||Overall, I believe this hotel is attempting to upgrade to a 4 star. If this is the case I would suggest that they consider using essential oils to clean, an upgrade to a pod coffeemaker, attaching the makeup mirror to the wall, offering a way to use room service (no written material available), placing a washable throw rug between the beds and perhaps by the sink and balcony door as well.||I’m sure I could say more. Overall, we had a pleasant stay and I would recommend this hotel for all types...
Read moreAs a long-time Marriott/Bonvoy member, I've stayed in many properties among various Marriott brands. This was my first time staying at a Delta property and most likely my last. I called a few weeks prior to my stay and asked about hurricane damage to the hotel. The front desk clerk who answered the phone seemed hesitant and somewhat annoyed at having to answer questions but gave a vague response about some water damage to oceanfront rooms but would be resolved before our stay. I called again a few days before our stay and spoke to a much nicer employee who recognized my Marriott rewards status and offered us a free upgrade to Oceanfront, which was very nice. I again asked about damage/construction noise during our stay and was told it would not be an issue. We checked in Sunday December 1st around 3pm and was greeted by a not so friendly desk clerk who seemed annoyed and argumentative at any property questions and housekeeping requests I had made through my Bonvoy application prior to check in. I explained to her that this was my first stay at a Delta and was unfamiliar with the brands amenities, etc. (I'm pretty sure she could've cared less.) I was genuinely pleasant with her anyway as everyone is entitled to a bad day. She gave us our room cards and off we went. There were very few guests, and the restaurant, lobby, bar area, pool, etc. were empty. The property itself seemed very basic and clean in the common areas. The hallways to room areas are carpeted and seemed clean, but as we got off the elevator to our floor (5th), there was a definite stinky odor. The room itself seemed clean enough but is very basic and bare bones by Marriott's standards. The oceanfront view was nice. We overlooked the pool area and what seemed to be a partially caved in back parking lot. The pool area was very well landscaped and furnished. We did not take advantage of the pool or pool bar area as temperatures were very cold. We did not eat at the restaurant either as there were too many other dining options available nearby. The requested housekeeping items were not in the room at check-in and had to call the front desk. Was told there was only 1 housekeeper there for the day, and it would be a while. An hour and 1/2 later, the housekeeper came by, and although we had difficulty communicating, I was able to get what I needed and thanked them. Monday morning, we were awoken by people yelling in the hallways, hammering, alarms going off, contractors, and alarm inspectors coming into our room to test the alarm(VERY INTRUSIVE!!!!!!) needless to say, we got up and got out of the noise ASAP. So much for a quiet 25th anniversary trip. We stayed away till 3 pm and came back to the room to more hammering and hearing every noise in the hallways and rooms. Walls have no soundproofing. We left again to meet up with friends. The remainder of our stay (that night and the following morning) were OK, but I would not stay here again. There are too...
Read moreI had a great stay, ocean view room was amazing we got a high floor to look out to the beach. Hotel staff we're super friendly and accommodating. We were always greeted in the morning by the bartending staff and the cleanliness should be commended ! Despite the door traffic of people coming in and out from the ocean / beach you couldn't even tell because the hotel was spotless. The location is away from the main boardwalk which is great, the beach isn't crowded and is only next to a few other properties. Internet is pretty good too and all of the amenities were functioning at the time of our stay. Breakfast at Ocean View is worth it, the food is very good and well prepared. Overall I would stay here again but I would probably stay a bit shorter or stay on a lower level so I am not tied to the elevator or have to walk up 8 flights of stairs with beach gear to get to my room.
There is one huge negative with the property is the tiny elevators. You can barely fit 4 adults in it, so when you introduce beach gear it's just not doable. There are only two elevators and you have to share it with the cleaning staff too. I feel so bad for them because the elevators are always packed and their carts barely fit on them even when they're collapsed. The hotel should put the same elevators that are at their residence inns to accommodate guests and staff.
Second negative: We were issued breakfast vouchers for breakfast but what was free and what was paid for wasn't made clear. I thought the voucher items would be readily identifiable, maybe I didn't see them but we were seated and then explained what was free and what wasn't. I felt bad because the server is wasting their time with us so we ended up using the voucher for 3$ discount breakfast on the paid menu instead. 3$ doesn't seem like much when you're titanium or ambassador level. Breakfast was awesome though, and worth the money if you pay.
Both positive and negative: You're away from the board walk but you're also away from resturants. There is never any parking and the waits are long so bring a few 20$ because the lots and local businesses will sell you spaces for crisp 20's or tow you. Not the hotels fault but something a guest should prep for.
Parking at the hotel is also charged unless you hit a membership status that rewards you free parking. Parking is still tight, the hotel wasn't at capacity when we were there and there was almost no parking...
