Tropic Shores Resort — Hotel in Daytona Beach Shores

I love this resort. Its balcony view of the ocean is a beautiful sight to wake up to. They keep their beaches clean, and you can walk, run, jog, ride your bike, and of course sunbathe, a little surfing, and swim till your heart's content. The staff is great, very quick to respond to your needs.

However, a big complaint was that the unit wasn't cleaned properly. As soon as I opened the door, an odor hit me, and that let me know that the unit was not cleaned the way it should be. The bathroom was the main source of the odor. The bathtub was lined with a dark film, I did not feel comfortable stepping in it with my bare feet. The film on the toilet seat was not fit to sit on, and there was some red stuff running down into the toilet bowl, and the floor was filthy with black spots, and black film in the back and around the toilet area. Also, the floor in the main living/kitchen area was dirty and gritty. The refrigerator was also filthy. The bedroom carpet was stained and smelly, and filthy. I arrived at 1:30 in the morning and had to clean the bathroom before we could use it. I usually bring my own cleanser, and the black stuff in the tub showed distinctly on the towel, and when I sprayed the toilet and wiped the seat with the washcloth, some yellowish brown stuff. I called the front desk when I woke up and got dressed. The housecleaning crew was sent up within 10 minutes, along with the upholstery/carpet cleaning guy. After showing everything that I spoke about and asked if they would disinfect all of the surfaces , I left and In the evening, when I returned to a different, I was hit with a different, refreshing smell and a clean unit! Overall I would recommend this resort and will be going back in the future. The view is absolutely gorgeous. I loved waking up to a direct ocean view every day. The unit itself was good in size but was pretty outdated. All of the beds were extremely uncomfortable. The showers needed an update and had no water pressure. We were very disappointed in their amenities. I looked on their website before traveling and saw they allow you to rent out beach chairs and other items directly from the resort. This would make the vacation super easy and convenient since it is directly on the beach. But the quality of the rentals were severely lacking. I am very happy that all of the rentals were free but after seeing the rentals, I would not expect anything different. The chairs were all very old, rusted, and falling apart. I would say they were at least 30 years old. Plus they only had 5 lounge chairs. This resort is directly on the beach and I think lounge chairs are an absolute necessity. They have activities Monday-Thursday and all of them were great. Staff overall were pretty nice. The location is also great for restaurants...

As an owner for 31 years I'm so glad we have a general manager Danielle that has a heart, compassion and is willing to work with our Board of Directors, Owners and take care of her employees at the same time. Covid hit hard to all resorts in Daytona Beach, but bc of our Board and our new General Manager our home away from home survived through this pandemic. Thank God the board did right by the employees on this one because they were able to work while no guests were here. I'm giving a 5 star again in hopes they continue to maintain. The new General Manager brings with her over 20 years of experience and has awesome new ideas to bring our place into 2022. If you want to rent at a nightly fee and they have openings I strongly suggest to check out our resort. Not only will she take care of you, but the employees all work very hard together to make your stay enjoyable. Nakisha, the front office Manager has a heart of gold, always smiling and willing to help with your needs.
