Arrived around 11:05am on 11/8/23. Greeted by a blonde lady with a ponytail whom initially seemed friendly but as Iâm ordering my coffee- she interrupts me halfway through my coffee order. Sheâs doing that smiling, âuh huhâ rude thing people do when they donât care what youâre saying. When I told her I wasnât finished, she told me to continue, cut me off again- and then repeated the order back to me- WHICH WAS NOT CORRECT. I responded, âthatâs not correct, you didnât let me finish so you misunderstood my order.â She seemed annoyed at the thought of anyone being there at all. When I stepped away to the pickup counter after this awful interaction, she made eye contact with me and smirked as if she won a competition I had no idea we were having. All of this occurred with the gentleman who owns the establishment sitting right behind me at the table just inside the entrance. He seemed to be giving an interview. She was bold to do this with him right there. Either owners donât care or sheâs an exception to the rule. Regardless, this intrinsically rude woman should be at least civil to patrons spending money at the establishment which pays her. Will be going to the newer coffee shop just a block away from...
Read moreIncredible! I grew up in Iowa but moved to Chicago 15 years ago. SRB is big-city fabulous -- and Iowa nice. I was suffering from allergies so badly today (you can take the girl out of Iowa but you can't take the hayfever out of her itchy face, I guess) and I mentioned this to the gal at the counter and asked if there was a Walgreen's nearby. She said no, but they might have something for allergies, did I want her to check?
In a litigious, paranoid culture, we have knee-jerk reaction to a stranger who is not a doctor offering us aspirin, Claritin, etc. But that's silly, because in a straightforward case like this (sad, itchy-face woman, over-the-counter drug assistance) it's a neighborly thing to do. They had Benedryl, but I skipped it in fear of being spacey during the lecture I had to give at the events center nearby. I wanted to write and share the story of that exchange because it's so freaking nice to interact with people, not corporate schils, mannequins, or people so afraid of protocol that they don't use their heads/imaginations/common sense.
Great coffee, too. All food items are...
Read moreVery bad service here. That staff is very rude and think a little too much of themselves. I was there with my friend and the two girls behind the counter were talking to some friends of theirs. Fine at first, but we kept waiting and waiting. They would look at us, they were very aware that we were there. I finally said something, asking if we could order. The girl acted like we were asking her to lift boulders. Heaven forbid you stop talking to your friend and do your job for two seconds. I don't need over the top customer service, but when I come to a place that is supposed to provide some time of service for their overpriced bad sandwiches, they can at least acknowledge customers when they come in, not act like they are better than them, and serve them instead of shooting the breeze with their friends. For the record, I stood there in line (nobody in front of me) for 15 minutes before they actually helped me. Also their coffee is bad and...
