My now-husband and I were over-the-moon impressed with our wedding reception/dinner at the Iowa Taproom in the Marquette room. Their phenomenal team (kudos x 1,000,000 to you, Melanie!) made the planning process painless, seamless, and stress-free! Very organized and responsive to my (many!) dumb questions — we are incredibly grateful for their patience and help! The venue was extremely elegant, rustic, homey, and magical with its many fairy lights and exposed wood and brick. They went above and beyond to make our special, memorable, and welcome. Our guests were also so impressed — especially our friends who appreciated that we hosted our event at a brewery! Our experience was exceptional — especially with the stress of the pandemic looming over planning for our big day — and we would recommend this event space to others in a heartbeat. (But the venue is popular so a word of advice: Book ASAP to lock in your date if interested!) Last but not, look at this last-call sneaky polaroid that ended up in our guestbook wishing us congrats! From the bottom of our hearts with the utmost gratitude, THANK YOU for making our wedding day so special and one of the happiest days of our lives. We just can't stop saying how wonderful and memorable and over our wildest expectations it was. 🤍

We were so happy choosing the Iowa Taproom for our wedding ceremony and reception! Working with Brenna and Tory was great, they have stellar communication skills and whenever I had a question they were always quick to answer. Their menu options are great, we chose the Italian Feast option and everyone raved about the food. We did attend a tasting with other options, and those were good as well. ITR included everything that I needed, which was important on our list. The open bar was well worth it when good alcohol was only $6 a drink. The room was beautiful, they offer their own centerpieces that you can rent, which I did 6 of them. Floating candles in cylinder vases, and the other 6 I did with my florist. The parking was just fine, with not one complaint from our guests, and honestly with picking a venue downtown that was my main concern. If you’re looking for an intimate wedding space that can include your ceremony and reception all in the same spot, I would definitely recommend The Iowa Taproom. There isn’t one negative thing that I could say, everything was great!

My best friend got married here in April. Everything went perfectly. The crew there laid out everything in a way that let the people traffic flow smoothly very nicely. Everything was customizable so the bride and groom to set out or attach their wedding décor. The bar staff was very efficient and deserved the pile of tips that mounted up throughout the night. The food was excellent. I will say, if you are considering getting married in Des Moines, and you're looking at this place, ask to sample the Hunter's Chicken entrée. My goodness, I've never had anything like it before, and I will hunt the same experience for the rest of my life. After the reception, we shut the place down in the actual Taproom. And it was such a cool space. The bar area resembled the side of a giant keg with literally dozens of taps sticking out of it. And I hear they rotate them very regularly. In a town with more breweries than people, this one really stuck out as unique to me. Overall, thank you, Iowa Taproom, for making my best friend's special day absolutely perfect.

First time going here. For significant others birthday. Very good choice for a nice experience and meal away from home. Relaxing atmosphere, yet lively with groups of people. Seemed like a place that would be good for large or small groups bc so few places can handle very many large groups. You're covered here. Service was good. Food was delicious. Would recommend the fish and chips. The artichoke dip was good but portion small. Would rather pay more and have more to share. Some didn't like the bread that's served with it. On the fish and chips the slaw was a garnish amount in essence. It was a great complement to the fish and chips. Would like to have gotten more of that with the meal. But overall those are the only constructive criticisms we had. Highly recommend and we will definitely be back. Someone that did not get the fish and chips this time is looking forward to getting it next time. I was kind enough to share a bite of mine.

My girlfriend and I came for an early dinner today. We sat outside and had to wait 15 minutes to even get waters. Servers would walk by and I would attempt to make eye contact but they just did not even take a minute. We were visually sitting there ready. Finally a woman came out and gave us our waters. We decided to order right away. She did not seem to happy about it, but took our orders anyway. I want to also say the restaurant was not busy at all. About 35 minutes later we got our food. In this time we had run out of water, and nobody had checked in, they just walked by. Our food was ordered, two burgers were ordered medium rare. Both were delivered visibly well-done and very dry. The food sucked and we left after paying. As of right now, I do not recommend.

By far 1 of the BEST beer bars I've been to! The service was spectacular, and so was the food! The honey Sriracha dip for the steak egg rolls was the perfect amount of heat and very well balanced! My salmon salad - fantastic! And those wings were really good also! Beer selection - wow! 120 beers on tap. This place was huge! There are no booths from what I saw from where we were sitting, but they had plenty of seating when we went at 4pm on a Fri afternoon. Can't wait to go back and try more of the menu and beers! Samples of beer are free! They have 4 or 5 beer flights you can choose from, or build your own. Starting price is $14. If you're not into beer or cider, there's also liquors for mixed drinks.
