Last post on Iowa is about our favorite place to eat. We went 3 times and tried different burgers each time. and each burger was amazing.y favorite was the Project Nemesis (a vegetarian portobello cap burger) and my husband loved the Cremator (spicy). The cheese fries and cheese curds are a must. #whattoeat #wheretoeat #placestoeat #restaurant #foodie #musttry #musttryfood #restaurantindesmoines #placestoeatindesmoines #desmoines #iowa

Des Moines is an awesome destination all year around, but if you go now, you will also get to experience the Iowa State Fair!! [AD] SAVE this for your next trip and don’t miss any of these fun activities: @iowastatefair : Eat all the delicious food, ride the rides, eat more food, see the animals, listen to music, eat more food, and admire the butter cow! Center Street Bridge: We loved exploring this river-side trail in the heart of Des Moines @zombieburgerdm : This zombie-themed restaurant has huge burgers and shakes that are to die for @sciowa : Kids (and adults) of all ages will love this Science Center! There is an area for smaller and older kids as well as a planetarium! @pappajohnsculpturepark : My kids loved the interactive sculptures in this downtown park @smashparkdm : This is Iowa’s largest outdoor patio. It has outdoor games, arcades, indoor pickleball courts, a bar, and yummy food! SHARE this if you love exploring Iowa! Which of these places would you go first? . . . . #desmoines #thisisiowa #iowa #iowastatefair @catchdesmoines #catchdsm #midwesttravel #traveliowa #findyourfun #bestdaysever

Zombie Burger + Drink Lab in downtown Des Moines IA. This is a theme restaurant based around a zombie apocalypse. The restaurant is amazing from the food, the drinks, atmosphere and staffed! This is a must place to visit in downtown Des Moines. When you get to the restaurant. All you see is zombie themed. It is amazing atmosphere as soon you walk right into the door. We waited to get to seated by the wonderful staffed members. I am a big zombie fan and this was just perfect from the start as you enter. The crowd was not busy because it was on a Wednesday but I bet the restaurant gets busy during the weekend. On the menu, you have so many different options from zombie movie references like T-Virus burger, 28 days later burger and so much more. I ordered the Envy burger. (photos of burger) This burger was literally and I mean literally the best burger I have ever tasted and the fries was good on the side. This burger so juicy and delicious that it was like eating something heavenly. I literally felt like I was a zombie from eating this burger nonstop. I highly recommend this burger but please and make sure to try all other foods. My friend that I was with said his burger was amazing as well which was the T-Virus burger. Zombie Burger and restaurant had the best food that I have ate in a very long time! Please make sure to visit! This is my number one priority and stop when I visit Des Moines again the future. The staff were amazing. They were so friendly and nice and they always had a smile on their face when you look at them. They always stayed busy and were working really hard. Unfortunately, I forgot our waitress name but she was fantastic. I promise you won’t have a bad experience with any of the staff here. The restaurant was clean and very themed. Zombies everywhere you look. The bathroom was well organized and decorated. The toilets were cleaned and working properly. We really enjoyed the atmosphere of Zombie Burger + Drink Lab. We also felt really safe and welcome during our stay. They do have street parking for all guest. Unfortunately, we did not get any drinks during our visit at the restaurant but they had some good looking zombie theme drinks for adults. Make sure to check the bar out as well. We highly recommend Zombie Burger + Drink Lab. This restaurant is definitely a destination to visit in Des Moines IA. You don’t want to miss it out this amazing delicious food that they offer and very welcoming atmosphere for anyone. It’s a great place for all family and friends! Overall 5/5!👍🏽

Waitress was AMAZING we had never been to a Zombie Burger before and she was extremely helpful when it came to helping us make decisions on what to get. And she even gave me a shake since it’s was my birthday! We ended up choosing the Zombie Bride Wedding Cake Shake, it was yummy. We all shared it because we were all so full by the time it was time for it to come out. We loved that the menu is a newspaper on one side and the menu on the other side- nice touch. We all enjoyed our meals: I had The cremator - ghost pepper cheese, o rings, fried jalapeño, chipotle mayo and hot sauce. It was good, I expected it to be much spicier, but it was good. My husband had Army of darkness, it had chili on it and he added French fries to it, so it was like a chili cheese fry burger. My son got the Zombie Burger, which is their classic cheese burger + zombie sauce. We loved the Zombie sauce, it reminded us of canes sauce. The littles had Mac and cheese & chicken strips. We read a review stating that if we were from out of town and wanted the true Zombie Burger experience to go to the one in Downtown DesMoines and I am SO glad we did. What a fun place! Zombie themed, but not scary. We brought our kids with and they had a great time even the toddler! We did have 2 caveats, the first is that they did not have a baby changing station in the men’s bathroom. It’s 2025, there should be changing stations for small children in man and women’s bathrooms. The other was that only the kids meals came with a side, we just found it odd that a burger place wouldn’t automatically serve French fries with the burgers.

This has been a staple since we went eight years ago. The iconic burgers and dishes are some of the best out there. So, there's two sides to this restaurant - there's the table service sit-down side which when we arrived both times had a wait time of an hour or better. The upside is that you can give them your cell phone number, and they'll text you when your table is less than 5 minutes from being open. Shopping around the blocks can easily kill the time. The other side is the take-out side, This is a very fast-paced side; a self-serve fountain drink and two kiosks for ordering and a cashier keep the line short. They do have outdoor seating if you choose to wait. You get your food in under 15 minutes. The food: while They're Coming for You Barbara is my personal favorite, The Walking Ched is right up there. The Undead Elvis is very delicious. The shakes are creamy, and loaded. This is not a place for healthy food. It's fast service with no apologies on carb counts. The service isn't the friendliest on the To-go side. The tabletop side is better. They're suited for hot fried foods with your burger and decadent shakes and comfort foods. The atmosphere: stripped down and easy seating. It's tight maneuvers when it's busy. But it has a lot of novelty media, and a phote with the zombie statue is always fun. The bathroom is off the takeout side and requires a pass code. Ask the sever for it. There is zero free parking. So either have money for a public street parking or garage. The drinking cups are 12 ounces. This helps you control loading up on too much sugar.
