Updated modern hotel, awesome location, a few downsides made the stay unpleasant. Great location on the beach. Hotel has been recently renovated, and appearance is very nice. Clean and the staff is very friendly, someone always straightening up and keeping it nice looking. The view (ours was on the beach side) is beautiful, could not ask for a better location. For those not familiar, Dewey Beach is less crowded than some of the other locations like the boardwalk towns nearby. Can just grab a couple beach chairs from the hotel, open the gate, and on to the beach you go. We would walk the beach a couple times a day, and you can rent a large umbrella from a location right next to the hotel. The hotel is modern, very clean, and nicely decorated. The bed (a king), was very comfortable. There is a coffee maker in the room, and there were a couple small carafes of water in the room when we checked in. Shower is nice, good water pressure. There is a single parking spot for each room, the spaces are small for the big everyday trucks and SUVs, but still manageable. Unfortunately, there are a few downsides to the hotel that made the stay unpleasant. First is the window shades, they can't really make the room dark if you want to take an afternoon nap or sleep in in the morning. The second is when they upgraded the hotel, they did not soundproof anything, and the ceiling and floors appear to be hollow and let in the smallest of sounds. We could hear the couple below us talking as loud as if they were in our room, and could hear someone snoring all night. An added irritant was we were on the 3rd floor with a sundeck above, so every morning before sunrise, there were people tramping across the deck and sliding deck chairs around...won’t get any morning sleep in here! The final and most irritating was the EXTREMELY LOUD AC unit. For the past 30 years I have traveled for work around the world every week, and can truthfully say this was the loudest AC unit I have ever had in a room. You don't have the option of turning the fan on continuously, it’s either fan or AC...not both. So with the summer heat, the unit turn on, then off, then on, repeat, repeat. When it's on, it is so loud you literally have to wear earplugs when you sleep, and the unit vibrates the room so much you can hear and feel it in the shower with the door closed! I told the front desk about it, and they said they would check, however another guest behind me said "I'll bet my AC unit is louder!!!" Obviously we were not the only ones to experience the very loud AC units! Another minor issue is the AC units poke through the wall to the small deck, so when you sit on the deck, the hot air blows on you and the condensation drains onto the deck outside, which then drips through to the deck below...complete lack of planning here. I checked the decibel or noise level of the room with the AC unit running. Most sleep studies say 30db is the preferred level for quality sleep, however at this hotel it is around 65db with the AC unit running…about the same as if a loud diesel truck was parked outside your room. While the location and decor of the hotel was great, the noise from the other rooms and super loud AC makes it so I would never stay here again...sad because it is a really great location. One last observation, they do offer a “breakfast”, however it is very limited, one protein such as small burritos or egg bites, a spoonful of yogurt in individual cups, lots of bread, some fruit, etc, not a true breakfast but something you often find in low end hotels. Read the other reviews and you will find the noise, AC units and skimpy breakfast are noted. Would I stay here again...no, just because it is by far the noisiest hotel I have ever stayed in. Not because of loud partying guests, but because very poor noise dampening construction and super loud AC units. Would I recommend...no, not unless either you wear fully noise-proof earplugs or can sleep with loud noise around you.

This place was really chic and great to stay We originally came here because we were going to a concert. We ended up leaving a day early because concert was cancelled and to be honest there isn't much to do in dewey. The hotel was really nice they had a social hour and served breakfast. The rooms super new and clean the shower was amazing the pressure and the head. They had a roof top to goto and sit at. The view was great of the ocean. The pool great. No elevators which was terrible had to lug everything up flights of stairs but all in all it was nice love that they had a coffee machine in each room and provided water also. The staff was super friendly and we got to check in a hour early. Got an email saying if we come early there was no check in early and not to come before 1 pm if we came at 1 pm we could get a parking pass but that was it. The email was alittle abrasive imo. But oh well. Was unable to get a refund for the day that we left early because they don't do refunds. So we welched on the cost of the room but like I said there isn't much to do in Dewey so we sucked it up and left to head home. If there was more to do we would of stayed and enjoyed ourselves. There isn't much noise control. You heard people walking in halls or walking above you non stop.

If I could give 10 stars I would, it's that good! ||I've known about Atlantic View almost since its inception, but had never stayed there before now. I discovered it when I was in a beach house with friends on Clayton St. for several years in the late 80's and then forgot about it decades later because it's not on the main drag - it's on the beach, which is a huge bonus - and, instead, ended up trying nearly every abysmal hotel in Dewey, until this year, when I got lucky and rediscovered it, just as it was opening after a complete top-to-bottom, inside-out redesign and renovation. I don't think one square inch was left untouched, judging from the old photos here on Trip Advisor. You MUST check out their website, ATLANTICVIEW.COM, to get a feel for just how spectacular the all-new boutique hotel is. It's very European in design and feels more like a casual, relaxed high-end resort...heads and tails above the competition. There really is no competition, for miles.||Starting with the staff, they are uber professional, friendly and accommodating. They greet you with a smile and a willing hand for whatever you need...doors opened, assistance with luggage, or just a chat about the wonderful refreshing drinks or delicious hot breakfast they prepare fresh daily or things to do in the area. Housekeeping and maintenance staff were cleaning and tidying all day, every day; the place was spotless and put-together at all times. Everyone seems to take great pride in making your stay exceptional. Special shout out to Brett & Kris (managers), Tamieka and Mary Lou (front desk) and Claudia (housekeeping) for making my stay so perfect and memorable that I've already booked two more stays later this year. I've found my Dewey home away from home. ||I enjoyed a flawless five days and actually hated to leave the hotel during the day because it was so comfy and beautiful. It was so comfy, in fact, that for the first time ever, I felt comfortable enough to go to breakfast or for the evening sweet treat in my pajamas, as I saw others doing as well. The thought and attention to detail that went into the redesign and renovation is obvious and like nothing I've seen at any local beach property; they truly considered every detail and nailed it all. I love the clean, modern, very aesthetically pleasing interior/exterior. The multiple central interior, poolside and upper deck common areas are comfy and inviting and guests were always gathered and socializing in all of them. Guests, including myself, were even socializing with other groups of guests, which is rare and a testament to the warm, intimate and social atmosphere they've created. Bedrooms are spacious, well-designed and nicely outfitted, with large wall-mounted smart TV, modular storage/fridge/coffee unit and thoughtful amenities, including Nespresso coffee (real coffee cups) and carafes with filtered water (real glasses) and a clever sitting area. I loved my ground floor room with patio facing the dunes, chaise and sitting area with tables. Of course the beds are comfy and high quality, along with the very high-end bath fixtures and everything else. You know it's top quality when you don't want to get out of the shower because it feels that good.||And last, but definitely not least, the pool and outdoor common area is fantastic! The pool is relatively small, but large enough considering there are only ~34 rooms, and they made the most of the space. It's gorgeous, with plenty of high-end loungers, umbrellas, tables, mood lighting and adjacent outdoor dining area and two firepits! Seriously over-the-top design features at this little gem of a property. And, to my great surprise, the maintenance staff vacuumed/skimmed the pool and tested the water every day...I have never seen anyone clean or even check any hotel pool anywhere I've stayed. As a former lifeguard/pool manager, I know how important this is for sanitation and confidence to swim. Oh, I almost forgot, beach chairs and towels provided too! And plenty of free on-site parking. And no sneaky additional "resort fee".||And to top off all this wonderfulness, the guests were lovely too...solo vacationers, couples, families...all friendly and a nice vibe, just like the hotel. Like attracts like, at Atlantic View it's high caliber all the way. ||Such a great stay, I can't...

A SPRING WEEKEND IN DELAWARE ON THE SHORE

We decided to take a beach trip for Easter. I knew I wanted the small town feel that Dewey Beach offers. My first peek with the internet lead me to The Atlantic View Hotel. I called the hotel directly and managed to secure just what I was looking for. Traveling with an arrival on Friday with a room change to an oceanfront room for the remainder of my stay worked out perfect!

The property is quaint with an outstanding staff and many amenities. The rooms were neat and efficient with fine linens and fluffy towels. In room coffee service a” dorm” size refrigerator and adequate space for an extended weekend.

The room on the third floor had a private balcony, with a view that looked the dunes and into the ocean. Beach chairs and towels at the ready with a short stroll to the beach. There is a swimming pool with chaises and a nice deck with tables and chairs.

The reservation included a wonderful breakfast more than one could ask for; choices included fresh fruit and yogurt, cereal for kids with apples and bananas, a variety of outstanding breakfast biscuits, with cute little quiches and a nice selection of teas and coffee with real milk.. I couldn’t of asked for better anywhere. Everything was prepared onsite with quality ingredients and care. In the afternoon wine and cheese was available for the guest and a nighttime treat of fresh baked cookies each evening @ 8pm.

Housekeeping delivered a personal touch as did engineering and of course the front desk went above and beyond to provide the highest level of service and meet all expectations effortlessly! Everyone was friendly, polite and most accommodating.

I learned The Atlantic View has sister properties in the area and beyond. I would more than likely make any of those my first choice for lodging on the Delaware Shore in the future. The ocean view was perfect for early in the season and parking was complimentary. I also was able to secure a bike rental from Dewey Beach Bikes for rides to Cape Henlopen State Park and other areas of interest.

Thank you Seaboard Hospitality for an unbelievable stay and exceptional...
