As a big fan of ice cream, I always make it a point to stop by Vanderwendeā€™s when I'm in Dewey Beachā€”and they never disappoint. Located conveniently right off Highway One, this little ice cream shop serves up some of the best farm-fresh ice cream around. I visited on a Sunday afternoon, and to my surprise, it wasnā€™t very busy. I ordered my go-to flavor: Peanut Butter Fudge Crunch in a waffle cone. It was as amazing as everā€”rich, creamy, and full of flavor. The staff at Vanderwendeā€™s are consistently friendly and efficient. They hustle to get everyone served quickly, which is always appreciated, especially during the busy summer months. Itā€™s worth noting that prices have gone up a bit this season, making it a slightly pricier treat. Still, for the quality of the ice cream and the excellent service, itā€™s well worth it. Highly recommend stopping in if you're in the area!

Huge serving size. One scoop is literally a pint of Icecream. I recommend you get two scoops for $5 and split with someone instead of two scoops for $4 each. Butter pecan was thick and creamy and a tad artificial tasting. Well worth it. Would come back.

Bummed because the website advertises a dairy free option but there wasn't one. My three year old was crushed šŸ˜­ smelled delicious though.

I had a cookies and cream milkshake that was ok. Could have been more flavorful but there is an amazing ice cream place where I live so perhaps my expectations are too high.

Edit: got regular ice cream -- portions are HUGE. Enjoyed my cookie dough ice cream and it hit the spot but not the very best ice cream I've had. I like that there were tons of cookie dough in most of my bites. Salty caramel was 'meh' in my opinion. Again, I think I am spoiled but there were lots of people in and out! Quick service even...

Disappointed in this place. First nothing came up in Rehoboth Beach before arriving. Then we found this place and were excited, especially with the long line outside we had high hopes. Nothing tasted great, it was severely overpriced ($5 for a half a scoop for kids). It was to the point where I couldn't distinguish between my flavors, one being peanut butter crunch (no crunch to be seen) and one being salty caramel (no salt or caramel noted). To top it off, the gentleman serving was strange to the point of being uncomfortable and used the F word in front of children. Not into it. Done....
