Update: 10/25/2025: I’ve been a fan of Ayres Suites for over 13 years, and this Diamond Bar location was my very first experience with the brand. It left such a strong impression that now, wherever I travel, I always check to see if there’s an Ayres nearby. This location remains my go-to whenever we’re in town for races—if rooms are available, I book it without hesitation. Ayres properties are consistently well-run, clean, and staffed with genuinely welcoming people. That consistency across locations is one of the reasons I keep coming back. The Diamond Bar team usually delivers that same warmth and professionalism I’ve come to expect. Our recent stay was tied to a race at Mt. SAC. In the past, our early start times meant missing breakfast and rushing back just in time to check out. This time, my son’s race was later in the meet, so we were able to enjoy breakfast—but it meant cutting it close to the noon checkout. When we checked in, I asked Breana at the front desk if a late checkout (between 12:30 and 1:00 PM) might be possible. She was friendly and reassuring, saying it should be fine and to just remind the front desk before heading out. The next morning, I spoke with Sylvia at the desk to confirm the late checkout. She was pleasant but firm—absolutely no late checkouts allowed. I explained our situation, but she cited fairness to the cleaning staff and referenced other teams staying at the hotel. Despite clarifying that we were just one room, her stance didn’t budge. I respected her position and moved on. After the race, I drove back quickly and arrived at 12:02 PM. As expected, our room cards were deactivated. Sylvia reactivated them but emphasized that this was not a late checkout, and we had only a minute or two. She mentioned a staff member had already been sent to check the room and told us to “just ignore him.” We retrieved our bags and checked out without issue. I did notice cleaning staff still working in other rooms, so it’s clear the noon deadline isn’t a hard stop for all. Despite that hiccup, the stay was otherwise excellent. Room 122 was spotless and well-stocked. The bedding was a standout—so soft and comfortable that I slept pain-free for the first time in months. I usually wake up every 15–30 minutes due to hip and leg pain, but not here. I slept like a baby. Breakfast was typical for a complimentary hotel spread. The scrambled eggs tasted like the usual liquid mix, but the variety was decent, and the kitchen staff were friendly and polite. All in all, it was a pleasant stay. I just wish we’d had that extra half-hour to avoid the post-race scramble. We’ll be racing here several more times in the coming years, so I’ll need to plan better next time. Ayres Suites Diamond Bar remains my first choice—and I still recommend it highly.
Original: December 9, 2016: I've stayed here a few times and it is my "go to" choice for Diamond Bar, Mt. Sac Area. It is within a mile in each direction to a great selection of restaurants and stores. Easy access to Mount San Antonio (Mt. Sac) for our cross country races. The staff has always been friendly to me upon arrival, during and at checkout. The lobby, pool and rooms are clean. The room is quiet and a good size with a sink, small fridge and m/w. The breakfast was okay compared to years past as they have moved from real plates, utensils to paper and plastic. The food selection was about the same except this year they only had sausage and no bacon. However I must say that the kitchen staff was very service oriented. They wanted to make sure that all was right with our breakfast. Overall with free wifi and everything else mentioned above they still offer the best value out of all the hotels in the area. It is a small chain that I enjoy to frequent because I can trust each one to be of the...
Read moreWe stayed here for a total of 5 days this passed week. Overall, our visit was pretty good.
Pros to our Stay: Location is nice especially being away from the hustle and bustle of SoCal traffic, with easy access to freeways. Target is down the street as well as a gas station and some food options. Having 2 kids on vacation, this was a plus when we realized we forgot an attachment on our pack and play for our 3 month old to sleep on, we just did an order for drive up at target, no issue.
Breakfast was probably the best I’ve had at a hotel to be honest. Eggs, potatoes, bacon, /sausage, pancakes, waffles, toast, muffins, coffee, fruit, hard boiled eggs, coffee, juice, etc.
We used the laundry room during our stay which was super convenient ($4 to wash and $4 to dry). Only recommendation would be to put a chair or two in the laundry room so people who don’t want to leave their clothes alone have somewhere to sit.
If you have DoorDash, the hotel allows deliveries directly to your room. I Doordashed some lunch as well as some food items, wipes, etc., from Target which was cool. Just make sure to put how to get to your room to help out the dasher. I just instructed them to leave it at the door.
For dinner 2 nights we went to BBQ Stop which had amazing food and even better service. Definitely recommend, it’s down the street to the right of the hotel. It’s all you can eat Korean BBQ which is our fave, super kid friendly. They made room for our stroller and entertained our eldest who is friendly and talkative.
Cons to our room (Room 226): When you close the door to the room, the latch didn’t catch right away, you had to almost slam the door and then use the lock, we didn’t notice until the evening. So if someone wanted to, they could’ve came into our room while we were at dinner and stole our belongings.
When first coming into the room, I noticed some hair on the bed, I was wondering if it was from housekeeping making the bed or just pulling over the previous person’s linens.
The shower attachment is nice, however it easily comes off (the pipe part holding the hand sprayer attachment. I had thought we broke it, but it’s literally just like that, I didn’t touch it again after when bathing the kids. I also noticed what looked like either blood and pee on one spot of the bathroom wall near the toilet paper holder which was gross, meaning cleaning isn’t being done very well of bodily fluids are visible.
The AC unit in the room despite the directions was a little funky. We have a 3 month old so the room needs to be within a certain temp., even though we followed the directions and set the degrees needed for the room, we got too warm at night, then we had to turn it off and turn it back on and try to fix it again. Once we turned it back on and set it to the exact temp as before, then an hour or two, we were...
Read moreLovely staff and property - will look for this family of hotels when booking This was a combination business/family trip for work and to see our child graduate from Cal Poly Pomona. We stayed in a room with a king and pull out couch since our oldest adult child also decided to fly in and stay with us to attend their sibling's graduation at the last minute. The front desk staff was quite friendly and amenable to find a room at check-in that worked for our child's last minute arrival. We stayed for three nights. While the pull-out couch bed was a pull-out couch bed and not the most comfortable for our adult child, the king bed was quite comfortable for my husband and myself. While at the motel, we used the pool area every day to visit. The pool was well maintained, and appropriately supplied with pool towels. The table and lounge chair seating was quite comfortable for using the pool and visiting. The area was lit appropriately for the evening hours. During the day, we saw monarch butterflies, birds, and bunnies while we were at the pool. Additionally, although the exercise room was small, the equipment was well maintained and adequate for a short, early morning workout. The continental breakfast provided at the hotel was better than average, and there were a number of drink options available. The hours of breakfast were thoughtful for guests, being an hour later during the weekends, and beginning at 0600 during the work week. The hotel even had snacks for a limited time in the evening during the work week. Again, another thoughtful option for guests. The hotel was conveniently located for access to Cal Poly Pomona, the Ontario airport, grocery stores, golfing (some of us had an early tee-time one morning), and many other activities. Note: even though the back of the hotel faced the golf course and part of the freeway, I could not hear the freeway noise at all. Great soundproofing. Most of all, the hotel was clean and comfortable and well cared-for. Each and every interaction with hotel staff was pleasant and positive. Our family would absolutely stay at this hotel if we were in the area again. There were maintenance workers on site taking care of the property every day, a security guard in the hotel lobby at night, and numerous housekeepers and front desk staff. This facility is well-staffed with friendly personnel, which makes me think the company is good to their workers. I will look for the Ayres family of hotels when staying elsewhere. Very impressed with Ayres Suites...
