I have tried for two days now to purchase a new egg gift card. I have a rewards visa card through work that I wanted to apply towards a purchase. It seemed like a simple enough thing to do, however, new egg won't let you use two credit cards to split an order, you have to buy a gift card, then use that along with your other method of payment. Fine, its an extra hoop to jump through, but I was willing to do it. I had issues getting the gift card purchase to go through. After two failed attempts I assumed I was typing the wrong verification information in, so I called visa to check. Nope, everything I had been using matched what they had on file, and they informed me that the verification was failing from new egg's end of things. There was one thing that they thought might be causing the issue, the e-mail I had on the visa account was my work e-mail. So I created a new new egg account using my work e-mail and tried replacing the order and it was denied yet again. At this point I called new egg customer service and explained the issue and was told that everything on their end matched up, but they would send my issue over to some internal department to check on the problem. I got an e-mail shortly there after from the Verification Department saying that the error had been corrected and that I was free to try placing my order again. I tried running the exact same transaction this morning and it was denied. At this point my frustration was pretty high and in a moment of anger I had the clarity to think "Why not see if Amazon has the parts you want?" I have built several computers over the years, and have used new egg for all of them, it had never occurred to me to check another site. But, they did indeed have the exact parts I was looking for, at the same price new egg had listed. The only difference was that I was going to use a 10% promotional discount when I placed my order with new egg. Turns out, Amazon makes you purchase a gift card too if you want to use different cards. I went through the order process and had my gift card in less than 5 minutes, and placed my order for the components I wanted in less than 10. What's more, I was just placing an order for two components out of about 8 I plan on getting for this particular build. I am extremely disappointed with everything new egg did in this attempted transaction. I am fairly certain that unless something changes in new egg's ordering system, I will be sticking with Amazon for all my future computer projects. Further more, new egg's site only allows you to review the products they sell, not the actual service they provide. It is stated on their page for leaving a review that anything said specifically about new egg will be deleted. I am sure it's because of...
Read moreThey rejected my returned PSU due to evidence of "attempted access to internal parts." This was based on a panel not being flush with other parts, which makes no sense, that's just how it is built, and scratches around the screws. The scratches were from installing the SFX to ATX adapter which came with it per the instructions. It's a perfectly good PSU with only superficial scratches that are hidden by the screws when installed.
They let me know their decision nearly two weeks after the return had arrived at their facility. Ok. I replied to their decision asking some questions and seeing if I could escalate. About 24 hours later, I got an auto reply from their "escalation team" saying they were reviewing my message (Cool!) AND, separately, the tracking number (WHAT?). They already sent it back to me. No response to my question, no opportunity to appeal. They didn't even check with me to learn I was moving and would need to update the return address.
I called back within 3 hours and a CSA warned they were "really swamped with returns" but would try to get ahold of someone on the return team. Well apparently they were so swamped they all went home 45 minutes early.
The next day customer service made no attempt to remedy the scenario. The best they could do was point out I had a warranty with corsair. When I asked how that helps me they admitted they have no clue. Of course it doesn't help me. The PSU is in perfectly good condition.
Anyway, if anyone wants a perfectly good "Corsair SF Series (2024) SF1000, 80 PLUS Platinum, Fully Modular SFX Power Supply" I'll have to sell it myself. I made the mistake of ordering the wrong form factor so the cords didn't reach without an extension and I found a cheaper one in the correct size. It was $240.
I was looking forward to supporting some of our Canadian allies and not using Amazon for such a massive purchase (my total order was $5000). I see how Amazon puts a lot of pressure on other companies with their return policy being so generous. But, I just was really upset by how passive aggressive it felt for the response to my questions being an automated notice of a tracking number for my rejected return. I was slightly worried it would be rejected because I was I couldn't package it perfectly with all the fancy cardboard it came with. If I knew to be scared they would accuse me of tampering with it, I would have waited to buy the the replacement until the return had...
Read moreBought a "Brand New" RX5700XT from Newegg last year but it turned out to be an open box. By common sense, You wouldn't find cat hairs sticking on a "Brand New" GPU cooler fins, nor should the seal on the static bag become non-stick. Didn't bother to request a replacement because the backplate screws and warranty seal were still intact. Besides, COVID could make the return much complex than it should be.
I guess my act of kindness somehow makes Newegg think they can dance on my face. This year, I ordered a pair of "Brand New" DT 770 Pro from Newegg turned out to be another open box. Upon unboxing, I found an item missing, and there were wears on the headphone jack. Since Beyerdynamic does not have any seals or stickers on their products and the company sells parts at an slight inflated price for profit, there is a chance the one I received is a part-donor. I brought up this to CS, and Chane H. immediately got what my concern was.(+1 star) I then received a returning label and sent the product back to Newegg later the same week. UPS did a great job shipping the package back to Newegg and I appreciate whoever at Newegg selected 2-day shipping for the replacement(+1 star). But it all ends here because the replacement I received was another open box! Once again there is one item missing in the box, while the same product sold by Microcenter carries it. Just see the pictures of what other's had come with versus mine.
I think this company might wanna switch its name from Newegg to Usedegg. Now on 10/07/2021, Newegg put a listing of an open box DT 770 pro and asks for less than I had paid.(Offence#1) The funniest part is the company asks me to leave a review, and then blocks it because pointing out Newegg's special definition of "New" along with the product review violates their policy.(Offence#2) Good for you, Newegg, good for you. I will take the loss this time because I got no time to waste on your dirty little switch-a-roo game, and I will not spend one more cent on your site.
One more thing for those who have just purchased from Newegg: If you are not from the West Coast but find your "new" item is shipped from Newegg's Customer Center in Cali, you'd better reject the delivery....
