Our first stay was dreamy! We stayed here because of Bentleyville last December to celebrate our daughters 10th birthday. She's obsessed with all things Christmas. Upon check in they had cookies (for free) individually wrapped and gave us free breakfast vouchers to celebrate our daughters birthday. Such an amazing touch and so beyond appreciated!! Later in the night they removed the cookies and placed these adorable little s'mores kits out to make by the fire. It truly is the view, amenities and amazing staff that put this experience over the top. The only negative I have is that they didn't tell us the ground that leads into the hot tub outside was broken so it wasn't heated. We had a heck of a time walking to it with how slippery it was. We watched a lady take a pretty hard fall leaving the hot tub and slipped down the stairs so guests started putting towels on the ground to try and get some traction. It worked pretty well, but still was something worth mentioning for safety. Our daughter loved the cute little take home aluminum cups from breakfast! They definitely kept our drinks cold and the food was great!
Fast forward to just recently when the hubs and I got to come back alone to celebrate. Not quite the same experience. No cookies upon check in, the guests in the room next to us had kids that were being very rambunctious and noisy which was super frustrating but we figured we could unpack and settle in then head out to eat/explore in hopes that they'd be sleeping when we returned. We brought all our own toiletries because I'm pretty particular about my brands. The first visit they had amazing bath and body works toiletries but this time was some cheaper looking brand. Good to know if you don't bring your own. Didn't make a difference to us, but for the price I was expecting the same as our first stay. When we returned in the evening the kids next door we're still super loud but the hotel looked pretty booked up so I figured calling management wouldn't make a difference as I paid a good amount more to be in this room with a gorgeous view. I didn't want to be told we would have to go on the other side of the building when we paid so much extra or that they didn't have another open room which would have been more frustrating. Looking back I should have. Even if they were full, maybe we could have received a voucher for a discounted rate on a future stay. It was our first date night out kid free since the pandemic and was not how I had hoped to enjoy it. We will definitely give PierB another try this spring/fall as I'm hoping this was just a one off bad experience. The property is definitely dreamy so I look forward to coming in warmer weather to experience the grounds a bit...
Read moreSAVE YOUR MONEY! BOOK NO ROOMS OR CONFERENCES HERE! TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE AND SERVICE! NOT WORTH THE 1000.00 WEEKEND RESORT PRICE. Here's my experience attending the AAMA (American Association of Medical Assistants.) Spring conference. This is hands down the worst stay at a hotel I've ever had in my life. Standing water in the men's bathroom that was so bad it flooded the toilet stalls. I told management and they sent in an old man with a mop and no bucket. He came out of the bathroom carrying a mop dripping with water and urine and walked up the carpeted hallway to the front desk. There were kids running up the halls barefoot to the pool. TERRIBLE! Food served at the conference was prepared days in advance and served as fresh. I've managed restaurants before, and I could tell the food was leftovers by the look of it and the temp which it was served. All hot food i had was served cold and not to temp. I threw my food away due to this. I will be following up with my conference group to see if anyone has symptoms of food poisoning and will forward this to the state of MN for inspection. They kept running out of food and everyone had to wait till more food was made. Stood there waiting to get served substitute food. We got macaroni noodles. Terrible. Food stacked in the kitchen cooler with only a tinfoil cover. You could tell because all the food was smashed flat on the serving line because the pans were stacked without lids and just a tinfoil cover. These are state no nos and finable offenses. It would be fun to watch the inspector in that cooler. The fines will be way more than my stay so.... Way over priced and the rooms walls are paper thin. I heard everyone's alarm clock. Room heat didn't work and the heating unit was very loud. Woke me up everytime it turned on. Room temp for the weekend was between 57 and 62 degrees. I ran the shower to heat the room. Terrible. I will not be attending ANY future events, or conferences at this overpriced resort. I've had better rest and experiences at holiday Inn. Even the continental breakfast at motel 6 was better than this. I did talk to a manager when I checked out but she told me she was a manager for the other side and there was nothing that she could do that could be done. I was going to forward this to the management but I don't think they care. They will when the state comes to inspect that kitchen..... Sincerely, Jesse D Lamb...
Read moreMy stars, what to say! It was SO MAGNIFICENT! The location is fantastic! Across from Bayfront Festival Park, and you can see the Lift Bridge, and harbor, AND, watch as ships go in and out and, it's SO serene! The lake breeze, the seagulls, the water! The room was so comfortable! Had the 2 queen sized beds, and they were so high and cozy and clean! Ooooh, a note on the height, at 5' the bed was at hip level to me! The TV had Welcome Hellen, when I turned it on! EEEEEEEEE! And the bathroom was large, and the shower is large and fantastic to spread out in! No teeny feeling! AND THERE WAS A MICROWAVE AND TINY REFRIGERATOR/ FREEZER COMBO, TOO!!! Honestly, it was such a gorgeous and comfy room, and ours overlooked the sport courts and Coast Guard ship docked there! The hallway was wide and clean, the staff was awesome, and so helpful in checking in, and out! And, everything in between! Did you know, they have a little gift shop? It is filled with lovely Pier B hoodies, light jackets, and some beautiful tech light running shirt material shirts! As well as neat books, and treats! Ooooh , outside on the sportcourts, THEY HAVE ADULT SIZED TRICYCLES, TOO! Hee! And basketball and pickleball, and, we peddled about in the free to guests, aqua bike thingies that are so fun, and the water staff was so cool, and got to talk about the history of the area! Silos Restaurant was full of delicious food, and again, fantastic staff. Every time we went, we were treated awesomely, and since it's attached to the hotel, it's a great place for breakfasts and dinners! The firebowls on the outside patio were so neat, and provided such a cozy atmosphere, even when full with guests, it felt so comfy! We didn't have too much time, sadly, to take in everything, like the wonderful indoor pool, and outdoor hot tub, and indoor fitness center, but did tour them, and they looked so nice and clean and fun! Pros: Everything ❤ I honestly want to stay here every time I go to Duluth now. We had such a wonderful time, great memories, and a nice fleecy hoodie from the gift shop! The staff we got to talk with, were ever so sweet, and loved their jobs! The only bad thing was not having enough time to stay longer in this marvelous...
