Days Inn by Wyndham Durham/Near Duke University — Hotel in Durham

DO NOT STAY HERE. I wish I didn't even have to give it one star. My parents came out to visit my fiance and myself when we first moved here, and they had intended to stay at this inn for a week. They did not even last 2 hours. Every inch of their living space was disgusting. I went with them to show them where it was, and intended to take advantage of the pool for a bit. Fist off, I did not even feel comfortable having bare feet in the bathroom changing into my bathing suit. Then me and my sister and dad walked down to the pool to swim for a bit, there were creepy people lurking down on the swimming area from the balconies, my father made us leave after only a few minutes. This is when my father decided to canceling the reservations the rest of the week. I had a feeling that is the place that people go with their hookers and to buy copious amounts of crack at. Every where you looked even in the lobby looked like it was old and damp and mildewy. One of my sisters ended up accidentally leaving some personal items in the room, and we went back to get them. It was as if the old man behind the counter was holding them hostage and would not give them to us. I eventually reached over the counter and just took them. The whole situation made me feel extremely violated. And I would advise anyone and everyone that this is not the place you want to take your family, let...

Okay so where do I start..so first the gentleman at the desk seem a bit snippy. We had made reservations online and it took more than twenty minutes to get our room key. Upon getting to our room we find that the refrigerator didn't work not to mention the roach carcasses in it..(WTAF) later we find the microwave is also not working. After informing the front desk they gave me an empty apologies and said the would have someone come take a look after about an hour a non-professional older gentleman came knocking and asked to check the refrigerator and came to the same conclusion. Then after two days I was informed that I could retrieve one from another room (were the hell is your maintenance staff) I already have a full-time job! I was also told to grab the microwave. Which was mounted to the cabinet it sat on. (F+&king really) so after another day they finally found a maintenance professional that found that the outlet that the refrigerator & microwave had a short in it so he moved the microwave to the vanity. (WOW) with the potential of a fire hazard we still had the TV plugged into a power strip on the same circuit. And they didn't offer any type of compensation or discount for any of there lack of amenities or even having a GUEST. Very low brow establishment. If you can avoid this place. Zero stars, hands up the worst motel I’ve ever been to. You have to plug the ice machine in yourself and then unplug it when you’re done because it perpetually shoots ice out otherwise…. And this is after you try the easier to find ice machine that doesn’t work at all. The furniture in our room looked like it came out of a crack house. I’m not being dramatic. The pool was closed, and green with algae. This was the beginning of the second week in June. This motel is literally BEHIND a motel 6, right by the highway. We didn’t realize we got a “smoking” room, and it smelled bad and the only thing that made it a smoking room is that the smoke detector was hanging off the wall. There was an even worse smell coming from the bathroom so we had to keep the door shut. Not to mention the building literally looked like it was falling down in some spots. I really can’t stress enough that this dumpster fire needs to be demolished. They literally won’t even let you in the lobby. There is a little window in an ante lobby they come to to check you in. If you want breakfast you have to go to that window and they’ll come out and give you a little paper bag with a granola bar, a little muffin, a pack of nabs, and a juice box.
