Was disappointing in a number of things. This is what we could afford for a 4 night stay, but we will now pay more for safety, comfort and a better place for our family.
*First noticed plastic was wrapped around our smoke detector. Let the staff know they took care of it. *The doors had no security locks. But damage and holes where previous ones were.(made us feel as if it had been broken into multiple times) *Had to press or pull hard on the door to get it to click shut. *The mini fridge was smaller than usual and didnt seem to keep cold. *The walls had repairs that weren't finished.(putty and mixed matched paint) *Shower head had scum and also a hole above the liner. *Our phone to the front desk didn't work. No dial tone. *Found a Reeses cup, a lighter and some other small trash under the bed edge.(p.s. it's still there.) *Smelt of smoke multiple times, but could tell it had been sprayed a few times as well. *Pest control came to spay we ask if they could come back later due to kids napping and ourself. Then came back 20 mins later saying they had to come in. We understand they had to do their job. It was disturbing and we were also concerned about our belongings and kids being near the spay but made sure they were to stay away after. It was just inconvenient for us, as it interrupted nap time. *Left the night before check out when we arrived at the hotel for the night around 11pm we noticed as soon as we walked into the lobby it reaked of Marijuana. We turned the corner and the entire hall was filled with smoke. Far down the hall was a rowdy room. We let the receptionist know we weren't happy with the situation and that we couldnt allow our 3 kids nor ourself to stay in this type of environment. She let guest know smoking is allowed outside and to keep it down. We continued to smell weed as it lingered. We heard the other guest speaking fighting words and also heard the sound of a hit in the hall. *Immediately we decided we could no longer stay. We didn't feel safe and choose to leave then. Loading all of our belongings and our 3 kids up in the middle of the morning was uncalled for. Especially after a long day at a family wedding and a 12 hour trip ahead we were hoping to get some rest before our departure. *As we were loading the car, the cops came. Apparently we weren't the only one that found it to be disturbing. The cops cleared out the crowd. However, we still had the thought they could return unhappy and harmful due to the statement made they were a paying customer and didn't want to leave. There was about 20 people that was told to leave the one room. *Didn't seem as if anyone was held accountable for their actions at least by authorities. (Slap on the hand, just leave). I hope at least they were charged a smoke free. This hotel is going to need it, if it decides to remain a non smoking facility.
*No smoking signs on every door and idk how every rooms smoke detectors weren't going off. It was litterly a smoke house. When I say we were DRUGged out we litterly were. People need to consider small kids and families when making poor decisions as such. Felt the issues should have been resolved before it got as bad as it did. Staff apologized as we checked out. I only give it a 2 star because the staff was friendly. They had a small continental breakfast. Allowed us to check in an hour or two early since a room was available. We won't be...
Read moreI had a very poor experience. I reserved a room online for the sole purpose of taking my family to the attached water park. After making the reservation late that night (I was coming up the next morning), I called the front desk to confirm my reservation, note that I would not be checking in until the morning, and verify that one room would be enough to receive 3 adult and 5 children water park passes. The gentleman at the front desk assured me all was well.
When I arrived the next morning, there was no record of my reservation. When I showed the front desk my confirmation e-mail, they told me I had to check in the previous day. I explained that I spoke to the front desk and shared that I would not be checking in until the morning as I was only here for the water park. The front desk receptionist and, I assume, a manager (she emerged from an office in the back) looked at me blankly.
I thought we were resolving the matter by moving foward with the room, but then I was told I would only receive 6 water park passes when I needed 8. I expressed that I was told on the phone that I would have 8. In order to get 2 more passes, I would have had to reserve a SECOND room at a cost of $166. I declined and The adults in my party decided not to swim but let the children play. Just when I was about to pay the woman who I assume was the manager told me the room would not be ready until 3 PM (it was 9:30 AM at this time). We argued again about the check in time- I felt that my reservation and confirmation number, as well as the call to the front desk should have reserved my room, whereas the front desk refused to acknowledge my confirmation in any way. She told me that while I had a confirmation, they did not recieve it until "the next day". I am not sure what that means, but I was completely frustrated and disgusted by the poor customer service and lack of organization. My family and I drove an hour and a half for nothing and I certainly would NOT...
Read moreThis place was not a bad stay for what it is. I've stayed in much worse. It's not a national chain, it's a privately owned and operated former Howard Johnson (you can tell by the 60s era orange A-frame welcome center) that was reconditioned to what it is today. My room smelled faintly of mildew, but what do you expect, it's a 50+ year old motel, and it was tolerated well by my children. Breakfast was included, slightly better than "continental" with warm selections (we had waffles). The soda machine was surprisingly inexpensive at $1.25 per 20 oz bottle. There was an HD TV in the room typical of all the chain hotels I've stayed in (that is, plenty of channels, none or few of them HD). The shower water was pleasant, the corners with clean white caulk, and though the bathroom was dated decor, not every hotel must be granite counters like in the chain hotels. The beds were harder than I like, but did not seem to be worn out, and the sheets and towels were clean with a nice bleach smell. The air conditioner / heater was old, but functional and I slept the whole night with the air from it blowing on me and woke up feeling fine. Overall, it was a very acceptable stay for the price we paid, which included 4 tickets to the water park. The water park was not like the big national amusement parks, but it also didn't cost nearly as much as those and we were pleased with the several hours of fun the kids got for the price. We stayed 3 hours and the kids would have happily stayed 1-2 more before they got bored. The water slides were some of the fastest slides I've ever been on! Wow! Overall, it was a great indoor water experience on a cold rainy weekend for a very...
