If you want a place to go to get delicious pizza and a decent side salad, then Your Place is the place. However, be prepared for horrible service which is what this place is all about. We are new to Pennsylvania and do go out to eat often. We’ve been to this place on several occasions since moving down permanently from Long Island. It’s been the rare exception that the service has been acceptable. But, the freakin pizza IS good. I initially wanted to go to try the Stromboli which was served in a burnt crust. I rarely complain, but I had to send it back. I think it was served that way because the servers have no clue how to work the restaurant. I imagine the crust was burnt while waiting to be picked up and taken to the table. There’s an empty salad bar not being utilized. On another visit, the “music” from the bar area was vulgar, crude and disgusting. I’m there to chill after a tough day of work sitting with my wife listening to awful cursing lyrics. I’m certainly no prude but I thought of my young granddaughters and had to speak up. No one else was. Turns out, a couple at another table thanked me as they were as uncomfortable as I was.
The pizza IS good. Another visit, with my daughter who came down to visit from Queens with the kids, the service was typically unacceptable. My daughter’s boyfriend had been a chef in a Long Island bar and I was embarrassed about the poor service. More recently, we stopped in on a Friday night when the place was busy. The pizza is very good. There were NO servers working. The manager was working the floor as best he could. I mentioned how he was working his butt off. He said he had to fire 2 waitresses that day. So, I was understanding of the difficult circumstances. Hey, the service was consistent at least. Good pizza. I’m more patient than I was back in New York, or I try to be anyway.
Let’s bring it to our visit Tuesday evening. My wife and I ordered our usual pizza, chili for me and a half caeser salad for her. My chili came after an expected long wait. I would not touch it until the salad was brought. Waiting and waiting as my wife is rather hungry. It never came. They finally brought the pizza, but no salad. I asked my wife if she wanted to cancel the salad which she still wanted. The waitress apologized about the salad after realizing it was not brought. I said, “is it my Yankee hat?” “This” is Not service. My wife didn’t eat the salad after it was finally served. She asked for a takeout plate. The server didn’t even have to courtesy to offer not to be charged for the salad. It’s not the money. It’s the principle. No brainer. Now, is it the “captive audience” as it’s next to a motel on Lincoln Highway? I imagine they do get some locals at the bar but I figure they have a transient clientele as it’s in a tourist area in Lancaster. I used to own a very busy luncheonette in Canarsie Brooklyn. I had the Same customers every day in a commercial section serving many businesses within about 3 square miles and their workers before they started work, during and after. We served to the roughest of clientele in an area with much competition. We had a dining area, counter service, takeout and local delivery to the local junkyards, collision shops, pharmaceutical warehouses and the Brooklyn Terminal Market and much more. My staff of 6 plus my father and me got it done every day. Our customers fed our family and they were our family to us.
So the waitress says to me the kitchen got swamped. Really? A good restaurant lives for that. It really wasn’t That busy tonight, There were ample servers. Sure, they had a party in the other room but people aren’t running back to work from a lunch break there. Just pure incompetence. Good pizza yes. But, the poorest of service as usual.
John Taffer. Where are you? The bar needs to be rescued. I’m an avid fan of his and a former successful restaurateur. The location is optimal. The staff is poorly organized. I’m kinda sorta...
Read moreWhen I got inside the dining room it was dark but seemed nice and clean. Was sat right away and offered a drink. The music was really loud for a dining room. I think it's a thin divider between the bar and dining room. The music had speakers in the dining room and I found it loud and off putting. Even the staff had to ask people to repeat themselves a good bit. I was told at the hotel and than again when I arrived the Stromboli was legendary. So I went ahead and ordered that. It arrived a while later with a side of grits. It was small and long more like a long pepperoni roll in my mind. It's been cut into pieces with a side of sauce. It looked okay but seemed wet. Unfortunately it was pretty cold by the time it got to me. The crust was crispy on top and wet on the bottom but hard to get through. Flavor was meh... fine. Was definitely cheaper cuts of meat inside like lunch beach not good quality salami and ham. For the price it was probably okay but I'd or order another. The grits although also just room temperature were pretty good. A touch of jalapeño gave it nice flavor but not too much heat. Texture and consistency were very nice. I had to ask for plates and table settings. Wasn't offered dessert just for the check. Not a bad experience and food was not bad but not great either. Seems like a place to eat out of convenience while staying at the...
Read moreHas to be the worst bar ever, mainly because of the bar tender that was working last night, July 20th, 2024. We had gone to a show at the American Music Theater, and unfortunately, that was the only bar open in the area, other than restaurant bars. There was a young black youth with dreads working, who ignored us from the time we walked in until the time we left. The place is small and it was filled up, but totally manageable. He never acknowledged us the entire time we were there, which was roughly 15-20 minutes, but continued to wait on the existing customers and also a few new people who walked in after us. It was almost as if he was ignoring us on purpose. This guy has no business being in the service industry. After waiting for the 15-20, we decided to go to a restaurant with a bar. When we were at this restaurant/bar, another couple came in who had also been to Your Place, and had the same issue with the bartender. They said he appeared to be overwhelmed. If this guy gets overwhelmed with roughly 10 people in the bar, then he needs to find another occupation. To acknowledge a customer is the very...
