I am an East Stroudsburg native and this was my first visit back to the area since the lockdowns. I was beyond excited to enjoy the mountains in all their autumnal glory, and attend a wedding with all the family and friends I missed so dearly. For context, I work at a small hotel myself and would be wary of staying at this location again.
The staff who were present when we arrived at about 11pm were very kind, despite how confused they both seemed when we tried to check-in. I ended up being double charged for the room, on top of the “pre-authorization” charge that was made earlier that day. So, during my stay, a $300 bill turned into $800 worth of pending charges (which I’m still waiting for my $500 to be reflected in my bank acct.). I understand the staff has no control of these pre-auth charges, but the front desk staff didn’t seem to be able to charge my card properly at check-in which resulted in the double charge. Also, was charged for things like a safe key, which we didn’t even touch the safe during our stay. After waiting for them to figure this out, we were finally given cards to enter our room. Upon opening the door, a strong odor of BO immediately hit us. After a night in the room, it either dissipated or we just got used to it. The toilet didn’t seem to want to fully flush, leaving remnants even after 5+ flushes. Front desk staff was able to let us borrow a plunger, but it didn’t really seem to help. The carpet was not very clean. It could have used a nice deep cleaning and a better vacuum, and more attention to detail (against all the walls/baseboard areas there was lots of dust and debris) and we found multiple pieces of trash and uncleaned spills behind and in the furniture. Usually, the housekeeping or front desk staff will do a walkthrough before rooms are cleared for check-in, so whoever was responsible for that obviously wasn’t looking very hard. The bed was completely clean though. I pulled some of the sheets and mattress covers off and checked the bed and seams for signs of bed bugs and other grossness and it was fully clean, which was a VERY good thing. The television wasn’t hooked up to the cable box and the remote didn’t work besides the volume and power button. Also the TV had lines through it as if it had been dropped or hit. I ended up hooking my laptop up to the TV instead, which worked fine. I understand that some of these issues may have been resolved if we had communicated with the front desk more, but we were in the area for a family wedding and really only had time to sleep, as festivities ran all weekend.
Pros: -clean bed -lower price -nice staff -decent location (despite construction nearby, which they would have no control over)
Cons: -not the cleanest -no elevator -double-charged -dated -some hotel property was damaged/overly-worn and should have been replaced before another guest was allowed in the room (TV, lamps, etc.)
Overall, I would consider staying at this location again once the property receives some overhaul in the rooms/facilities and possibly a mass deep-clean. The beds were nice, but the furniture and carpets were both dated and certainly showed their wear and tear. Also, would probably want to try and check-in while someone like Lynne the manager was on-duty. She was very kind and communicative about trying to help to get my charges straight. We did not have a bad experience, just an inconvenient...

Room was pretty clean. Only “bad” thing I have to say is a few hairs were left on the counter/sink, so I didn’t feel like EVERYTHING was super deep-cleaned. But also, what do you expect from the most affordable hotel booking you can find. Tub itself looked very clean though, same for toilet and floors. Plenty of parking spots close to entrance. Never felt unsafe entering/exiting, but it’s right by a highway; so don’t dawdle. Decently lit. Bed very comfortable Paid $70/night after tax in October ‘24. (1bed) There’s a deal on Wyndham Rewards until Jan ‘25 that you must join & activate first before booking, where you can stay 2 nights and get 15000 points AKA your 3rd night free. Didn’t use it, missed the opportunity, but just saying. Go to Wyndham website for details. Book directly. Breakfast 6-9am (cals for size/filling reference) was 200cal muffins, 100cal granola bars, OJ, apple juice, and tea/coffee. Muffin rankings for fun: Apple Cinnamon on top, Banana, Blueberry, then the Chocolate. (Skip the chocolate lol.) Granola bars were Oatmeal Raisin and Chocolate Chip Nature Valley bars. Don’t tweak if you can’t get up at 630am or something, the food/coffee will be restocked periodically. Any issues I had were resolved by front desk easily. Staff were all very kind. (Key card stopped working once at like 1am and it was a quick & easy swap.) A/C will kick on and off annoyingly unless you turn it from Auto to a hi/med/lo setting. Golden from there, as it actually cools the room perfectly. Curtains will mostly blackout your room. Decent amount of channels with a Guide. You’ll have something to watch. Stable wi-fi connection. Power strip right by the bed, & the two lamps on the side tables each have a place to plug-in, too. No USB ports anywhere BTW. Checkout 11am, but you can add a fee to check out an hour or two later. Could’ve just been my luck but no one was rowdy. Hardly heard anything from my room aside from the maid passing by starting around 830-9am. Mini fridge, phone, alarm clock, safe, microwave. No hair dryer.
While you’re here, check out Olde Engine Works Market Place. It’s WAREHOUSE big, but lots of little vintage things to look at. Found some cute knick knacks for my family and friends. Very...
Read moreThe lady at the check-in desk, according to the other reviews it was either Alicia or Kate was very nice and friendly even though we arrived around 10 PM. However, we were assigned to a room that must've been a pet friendly room on the first floor. I like the idea of pet friendly rooms, but honestly you're just getting a room that smells like other people's dogs and cats, which is gonna make you smell like other people's pets. So we went back to the desk and she assigned us to a room on the second floor that smelled perfectly fine. When I took a shower, the water leaked all over the floor because the curtain was a good 5 or 6 inches outside of the shower for some reason, but the water pressure was fine except for the fact that when I woke up that there was a huge puddle on the floor that I had to clean up. Also a air conditioner/heater that worked very well, we slept comfortably and the AC was on 62 F when we went in the room, but usually they don't turn it down because it runs their electric bill high, but I'm not complaining because we like sleeping in cold rooms. The night was quiet considering we're so close to the Pennsylvania Turnpike. In the morning, we wanted to do breakfast here, but there was only coffee, iced tea, orange juice, and muffins. Is that really a breakfast, or a scam? I wouldn't say though because it was like $100 or something like that. The TV worked ok for being connected to... DirectTV 💀... Half the channels on the list were something else, and when we turned the TV on, we got a TV channel with just infomercials and it was honestly hilarious what they think they can sell just on TV to seniors. The bed was decently comfortable, which was a little firmer than I would've preferred. Anyways, I wouldn't go here again considering there are better hotels very close by. Honestly the location was great and even though we were in the middle of "college town" within walking distance of East Stroudsburg University, there were some local gems like Trackside, which I would highly recommend. Anyways, a decent...
