I've lived here for 24yrs and never knew this was here, so I suggest some more marketing for sure. We took our grands for an afternoon. We enjoyed the museum, they were very excited and involved in all of it. We did the planetarium last. The museum seems a little dated and I was disappointed that there wasn't more focus on POCONO wildlife or NE wildlife instead of world wildlife. It could definitely use some improvements, but still it was a nice afternoon of learning four our t and 7yo GC. The planetarium was also very dated. From the film to the sound. Still, it was a nice visit and learning fun for them. It got them off screens and out of the house and learning. (When we got home our youngest GC ran and got her Lion King book and said she saw the Warthog at the museum, just like in the Lion King story so, yeah kudos there) Personally I would live to see this place updated and more residents knowing it's available. And add some more sensory touch items too, maybe something at each exhibit. Also the information boards at each area were not coinciding with the displays and the push button interactive were not working. $10 adults $7 children and only open a couple of days per week. Lastly, I asked the student running the film if they had any other events other than the films at the planetarium, she responded with no while running out the door with us. Another poster here claims there is an observatory. We did not see one. I will be calling...
Read moreThis is a well designed museum. This is also a SMALL museum. For what they have, many taxidermy displays of game animals, everything is nicely done but not extravagant. The variety was very nice, and having everything so close as to see their actual size was a treat. There was a number of "touch me" stations. I never knew an ermine was so soft!
The planetarium was included with the price. It was small and also nice. We saw two shows. The first was a few minutes long was a tour of our system set to music, the second was a video from the American Museum of Natural History and narrated by Tom Hanks.
There was supposed to be free wifi there. There were multiple signs with different ways to access the wifi and no combination of user ID's (upper case, lower case) spaces, worked, and the woman at the desk said it didn't work because of my phone.
Even with an inquisitive eight year old, we were out of there in less...
Read moreI wish I could give this 5 stars because the admissions desk was so delightful and even came to meet us outside when we couldn’t find the entrance, so that’s why I’m not just doing 1 star. We came mainly for the planetarium but it was absolutely horrible. The movie geared toward little children threw facts out while showcasing characters that were mean and disrespectful and it even goes as far as to suggest a star was a promiscuous lady when it was “hotter” then the other stars. Really disappointing. I asked the kids what they learned and they said they learned that there is a star called “Big Daddy” -_-
The museum was way better than the planetarium, just a little too small to make up...
