Gee, where to start! This will be a long review, as it was a week long stay and I like to share the experience. Want to start off by saying that absolutely EVERY staff member was friendly, helpful, professional and accomodating. Special shout out to Hannah, who is as sweet as pie, and also to Gaby, Sean, Dante, and Harika. Check in with Hannah was swift and friendly. There is always staff at desk, 24/7. Everyone dressed in hotel polo/uniforms, looking crisp and professional.
Room was fresh, newly decorated top to bottom, clean as a whistle. Double window blinds, one is a screen for privacy while letting light in, and a black out blind too, perfect. A/C worked great, and you can adjust the settings yourself, rather than some hotels who control the settings remotely.
Bathroom immaculate, absolutely clean top to bottom. The bathroom linens were plentiful and clean, just a little bit scratchy. They provided full sized bottles of Dove brand hand soap and lotion at sink side, and Dove shampoo, conditioner and body wash in the shower, all wall mounted for ease of use, and not cluttering surfaces. Toilet paper was a bit thin, single ply, but they provided plenty of extra rolls. Blow dryer was a Conair 1875, which is really decent, worked great. Plenty of hot water and shower head plenty of flow. Also, the power outlet at bathroom counter has a little light feature built in for night time, soft glow, so you can see where you are going without turning on light. I like.
The bedding was fresh, sheets soft and bed sooooo cozy! Duvet cover on the comforter, and I know they changed them out after each guest because I saw Housekeeping doing so when they cleaned other rooms. Four pillows for each queen bed, two firm and two soft, very cozy set up. We declined daily housekeeping, but were able to get clean bath linens with just a phone call.
We had a double queen room with a desk and chair, and stuffed side chair. With a full week stay, we found ourselves wanting a table and chairs to sit together to have tea and snacks, and that wasn’t possible with the double queen room, at least not in our price range? Only one of us could use the desk for computer time, other sat on bed or stuffed chair with computer in our lap. (Other rooms had tables, I believe, probably rooms with one bed?) Dragging heavy stuffed chair over to desk was awkward, not able to sit comfortably together.
Would’ve loved some smaller drawers for the dresser and the desk. The wall mounted mini-table between the beds would’ve been more serviceable with drawers as well. With a week long stay, our desk and mini- table became quite cluttered with books, chargers, souveneirs, etc, with nowhere to store them away. (Two outlet plugs at mini table between beds, with 2 USB ports as well. Room phone at mini table as well.) Decent desk lamp, nice. Desk lamp switch has tiny glow feature, easy to find in the dark and acts as a mini night light in the room without being bothersome.
We would’ve loved more drawers for clothing storage, with a full week stay. Dresser only had two deep drawers. We piled some of our clothing on top of the dresser, which added to the clutter feel. There was a (estimate 2’6”) closet with six wooden hangers (slacks rod and clips) and a safe at the bottom of this closet. Interestingly enough, there was no mention of the safe as an amenity, so we were happy to have. NOTE: Call front desk asap to get a code reset on your safe. We couldn’t use it until management came to reset the code after prior guest. Safe was just deep enough to house an ipad, a laptop, a headset case and small travel jewelry box. With the safe at bottom of closet, no where to tuck away shoes, slippers. There was also an ironing board and iron tucked into closet side compartment, nice.
Tiny Kitchenette at entry to room, small microwave mounted up and out of the way, very clean, small counter top with little Keurig single serving coffee maker. K-cups, disposable cups/lids, tea bags, sugar, splenda, stir sticks, creamer. We were able to get more of anything we needed with just a simple call to front desk or a quick trip downstairs to cafe area, where they had hot water and tea, etc available 24/7. Mini fridge below counter, very clean and chill.
Indoor pool was in excellent condition, very clean environment, well maintained, has handicap accessibility. (3’ to 5’3” deep) Plenty of fresh, clean towels. Not a super huge pool, pics make it look bigger than it is, but we enjoyed cooling off and playing. Pool can only be accessed by staff key entry, which I think is good. Signs posted for safety and code regulations. Emergency floatation ring on wall, and phone on the wall with emergency numbers, etc. Nice facility. Didn’t use exercise equipment, but it looked well maintained.
Carpets and floors throughout hotel were clean and well maintained. They deep cleaned the lobby area rug during our stay, nice that they maintain well. Elevators clean as well.
The only thing I cannot advise on is the breakfast they serve. Being on west coast time, we could not manage to get down there in time to enjoy the 6-9am perk. (Bob Evan’s is literally across the road, so no biggy. Also, Denny’s across the road, open til 1:30-2am, in a pinch.) I will say that the breakfast area was always clean, serving area, tables, chairs, all of it clean and well kept, whenever we went down for tea, was available 24/7 in breakfast area. They do have a “snacks for purchase” area, and frozen boxed foods as well that you could buy in a pinch and enjoy in your room. Nice alternative to going hungry or if you arrive too late for a restaurant trip. We saw pizzas being delivered to hotel, as well.
Parking lot well lit. There are two entrances at either end of the hotel, so you can go down the stairs and straight out to parking lot, rather than going through the lobby. You need your room key/card to get back in either of those entrances, which is nice for...
Read moreThere are times when I work fairly late and if I’d like warm food or anything other than convenience store, I must order it prior to arrival. This is never an issue with IHG facilities. I normally let the delivery driver know he can leave it at the front desk. This is the only Holiday Inn that I have stayed at (I live in them every week), that refused my food delivery. I received a called from the delivery person whom said the front desk would not allow him to leave it. Luckily, I was right around the corner. I met the delivery person in the parking lot. HOWEVER, when I checked in and inquired as to why they turned my food delivery down, “she” said it wasn’t her job to keep my food at the desk. Hmmm…pretty sure you are in the hospitality field and we could have found a resolution. Would it have been too difficult to pick up a phone and dial my number to make sure that I would be arriving shortly? She immediately had an attitude when I asked how I should go about it in the future and threatened to cancel my reservation. Unfortunately, this hotel is in an area that I will be working in for a decent period of time and wanted to find some sort of middle ground. Instead of working with me like a grown ass adult, she decided to call the police and tell them that she asked me to leave, that I was irate and will not leave. She did not! In no way did I raise my voice and she did not ask me to leave. She just threatened to cancel my reservation. As somebody who is in the hospitality Field and is responsible for making guests comfortable. I would’ve thought that we could’ve discussed it further to come up with some sort of resolution. Calling the police over a pizza delivery was extremely petulant. In my experience, most hotels would prefer delivery drivers leave food at the front desk as opposed to having random strangers milling around the hotel. Maybe she was having a bad day and is unhappy with her life? But I’m paying for a service and believe that I deserve better treatment. This left me having to find another hotel late at night. The location is decent as are the rooms. They may want to work on maturing some of the staff. It would be difficult to let food sit on a desk next...
