This place is an absolutely darling hidden gem along the route to the Rocky Mountain National Park. We had an amazing stay at the Bristlecone Cabin with all the amenities that come with the private cabin. I had ordered some wildflowers to be added to the room, and the bouquet's scent filled the entire cabin when we first entered.
The staff was friendly and attentive to our needs, even having a small store front in the office for all sorts of amenities, alas, they had no computer mouse. In fact, I couldn't find a computer mouse in the whole town of Estes Park! Someone could make a fortune opening a computer hardware store up there. But I digress.
The Inn at Fall River is about halfway between town and the Rocky Mountain National Park, being about 3 miles from each destination. Stores are directly down the highway, and the Park is in the other direction. It made it easy for going into town for supplies and souvenirs. It's not really within walking distance of anything, save for The Wapiti, which seems to be a popular lounge/restaurant that we did not go to.
The Bristlecone Cabin was where we stayed was amazing! The 600 square feet doesn't seem like much, but it's more than ample for 2 people to stay the week. It overlooks the babbling brook that is the Fall River that passes through the property. We saw Elk, Deer and Wild Turkeys, and tons of tracks for all sorts of animals in the fresh snow. The cabin comes with a large tub, big enough for two, and a hot tub out back (we didn't use it). It also has a gas and wood fireplace, the gas fireplace being controlled by the Thermostat in the kitchen and Firewood is available to buy from the office.
Speaking of the kitchen, it was fully stocked with plates, silverware and glasses for 4 people with a full-sized refrigerator, stove, and sink, with a half-sized dishwasher, which was more than big enough to handle all the dishes available. The marble countertops were absolutely beautiful, and the bathroom was nice and large! The shower is separate from the large tub. They even provide showering amenities, locked into the shower on the wall.
The entire property was quiet. We would sit out on the private patio on the cabin to watch the wildlife and river. The area is well lit, and the people across the river from us made an outdoor fire in the firepit, and we couldn't hear a peep from them. The river was louder than them, everyone was just courteous and quiet. The property is beautiful with breathtaking views, and lots of wildlife pass through the property, like everywhere in Estes Park.
Simply put, I can't say enough good things about the Inn at Fall River, the staff, the cabin, the amenities and the location were all plusses for us, and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and look forward to returning. We wanted a place that was not in the center of town or an Air BnB.
TL;DR: Quiet place with awesome cabins and suites with the river running through the middle of...
Read moreI’m hesitant to share our review of Fall River Cabins because more of you will discover this gem and make it more difficult for us to book! FRC checks ALL the boxes. The physical setting on the river is picture perfect and the cabins themselves have ALL the amenities one could want for a delightful get away. The bed was a comfy nest of fluffy pillows and beautiful linens. The towels were large and very luxurious. The bathroom was well stocked with shampoo, conditioner and body wash as well as make up remover and nice black washcloth (what a genius idea to prevent make up staining!). The shower itself was good sized. This cabin has a tub/shower combo so you do need to step up and into it. As a newly old person, i do understand why grab bars are good to have. This cabin didn’t have them so if you are old like me just use caution and don’t go gallivanting into or out of the shower. I know the other cabins have walk in showers so if it’s an issue for you maybe book one of those. The kitchen was clean and bright with newish appliances and countertops. We like to eat in for most of our meals when visiting so it was very convenient to have all the pots/pans/utensils. The hosts provided two water bottles in the fridge and there is an ice maker. Some of the cabins we’ve stayed at at FRC have had condiments such as salt/pepper. We brought our own this time. It’s kind of a guessing game if someone who stayed before you left something so my advice is check the cabin BEFORE you go to to Safeway to get groceries, you might be surprised by what is waiting for you. They had a nice coffee maker with a stainless steel carafe which was convenient to take outside and sit by the river and enjoy a morning coffee!. We saw lots of birds and squirrels this trip and turkeys wandered through too! On other trips we’ve seen deer walk right by us! It’s very nearly a Disney movie at times! This trip it was warm so we didn’t use the fireplace but other trips we have and it is just delightful to cozy up by that fireplace on a chilly morning! We used the hot tub on the deck at least twice a day everyday we were there. We loved coming back after hiking to soak out those sore muscles and it was just heavenly to sit in it at night and watch the stars! There were two large, fluffy robes and extra towels to use for hot tub time. The room has a large two person jacuzzi tub in the corner of the room. We didn’t use it this trip but on other trips when it was very windy out we did enjoy having that option. There is a cute bar with games and big screen tvs and fire pits just across the river which we have gone to on previous trips. The bartenders have always been very pleasant. There was live music this time which we enjoyed from our hot tub. FRC is our go to place for a relaxing fun get away, we’ve been going for the last ten years and we are already planning our trip for next year. ...
Read moreI booked the pinecone cabin on May 28 for a June 19 arrival. We usually stay at a cabin on the Big Thompson river, but there was no availability so I was grateful to find one available cabin on such short notice. It was very hard to choke down the price tag - more than twice what we pay at River Spruce - however the interior of Pinecone was so much nicer. It has been remodeled in the last couple of years. It’s got modern ceramic tile and fixtures in the bathroom, new stainless steel Samsung appliances in the kitchen, new Natural wood cabinets, LVP flooring. I was very pleased upon arrival. It’s always hard to tell from pictures or from maps how close you are to the road and river, and although pinecone is very close to the road, the close proximity to the river and the sound of the rushing waters drowns out any cars passing by. when we sat down at the fire pit near the water, it felt like we were in the middle of the woods. It was very calm and peaceful. The day we arrived, it was early. We met Nate in the office and asked if there was any chance we could get in early. He said he would see what he could do, but it was no problem waiting since we went to breakfast and then went on a 2-hour hike to Gem Lake. We arrived back at the property at 3:30 PM and met Nate’s brother-in-law (whose name escapes me). he was very helpful in showing us how we could access hiking trails from behind his parents property next-door at Pine Haven. Side note: please inform people they need some level 3 scrambling skills in order to reach the top of old man mountain - skills we don’t have lol. BTW, I did find a Trail Tag and left one for you with Nate ;)||Our first night we enjoyed listening to live music and had a beer at the second level patio bar. On Friday, they had a neat light show on the bridge over the river. ||I think prices overall have increased drastically throughout Estes Park since our last visit August 2023, and although this property is quite a bit more expensive than our usual place, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the Pinecone cabin and will likely be back in the future. (PS fix the...
