Our stay at the Streamside on Fall River was marginal at best for the price we paid per night.
Good things: The location was beautiful and the cabin was clean and tidy when we arrived. The bed was comfortable enough and they provided six comfortable pillows. The barbeque provided was clean but didn't have an ignitor that worked very well. They did have a lighter in the cabin to use which works although a little more risky to the user during the lighting process. The grounds were kept up nicely. We were right next to the stream which was awesome and it was only a few miles from the entrance of the national park. There was wildlife roaming around the property most days including ground squirrels (or some critter like that), wild turkeys, and elk. I saw one of the biggest bull elk I've ever seen grazing on their grass on one of the afternoons we were there. The staff was friendly, I have no problems with any of the people that work there.
Disappointments: For as much as we paid per night ($280-$300) for the "King Studio on the River", it was a VERY small room. I believe there were bigger rooms on the property that I would have paid a bit more if they were available. The biggest inconvenience was the temperature of the room. There is no A/C which probably isn't a big deal most of the year except during the hottest part of the summer. The cabin was west facing and it got very warm in the late afternoon and evening when the outside temps were in the low 80's. They provided a fan but we still found it very difficult to cool it down sufficiently with both windows open. So we slept uncomfortably for the first half of the night for the whole week we were there, except for one day that was overcast and cooler. We were also on the main road coming into the property, so we had to sacrifice privacy to leave the windows open at night to cool it down. The TV was much undersized if you wanted to watch something while in bed. The other thing we were surprised about (maybe this is a Colorado thing?), but they are still using "COVID-19" as an excuse not to provide housekeeping services. We have stayed at many hotels in the past couple of years that have resumed normal housekeeping services. We are not in a pandemic anymore so I see this as an excuse to make more profit, instead of providing a better experience for their guests. We were there the whole week and had to go up to the main office to ask where to put the trash after being there for a few days. We were told it should have been left outside our door before noon to get it picked up. We were not told that when we checked in. To leave it outside the cabin does not seem wise with all the wildlife around including signs on the property saying to...
Read moreWe stayed here in the end of May for a long weekend. We rented a room with a private hot tub, but when we arrived in the afternoon, we discovered the hot tub was not heating up properly. The owner, Max, came and could not figure out how to fix it and said his maintenance guy had left for the day and suggested we could just use the public hot tub. We told him we had specifically rented the room and paid the extra cost for a private hot tub. He said he couldn't do anything until the following day. The next day he said he would be sending his maintenance guy over first thing, but I did not see anyone and later found him in the afternoon myself and asked him to come look at it. He could not fix it and then the owner got a hot tub repair man to come and finally fix it and at that time offered to discount us a night's rent for the inconvenience. The next day, however, the owner called me in the afternoon and asked why we had not moved our stuff out because he had re-rented the room. I told him we had it for another night and his not charging us for one night didn't mean we were going to leave a day early. He told me he couldn't afford to give that kind of discount, even though he was the one that offered it. I told him I was happy to accept a partial night discount for the hot tub issues and he said to just forget it and we would leave it as is. The next day, after we left, he charged our credit card for the discount day without telling us after we had initially settled the bill. When we contacted him, he said the owner made him do that, even though he is the owner! So he lied to us and then eventually refunded the money again. He wrote us nasty text messages and emails. This place would be a great little getaway except that if Max has to deal with any service issues, it's a nightmare and he's a nut job. I would never stay here again or recommend...
Read moreWe have stayed at this property multiple times but our two day stay this week was very different due to the extreme rudeness of the man who identified himself as the owner. First, I called on Saturday early afternoon and left a mssg saying we’d be arriving earlier than we anticipated after a long drive and asking if there was any chance of an earlier than 4pm check in. No call back. But when I was checking in and he saw my name he said “oh, you called earlier”. So he acknowledged my call but didn’t give me the courtesy of a call back. After that our stay was fine until my wife called him on the afternoon of our second day to ask for some additional coffee pods - there were 3 reg pods when we arrived. He told her coffee was expensive, he only provides one day’s worth, and to go to Safeway if we want more. I then called him and he repeated the same to me. I told him we have never, in all our travels, been told to buy our own coffee. He went into a hissy about coffee and the amount people drink. I stated that I thought he was being rude and he said my wife started it. Ridiculous. I then asked (not my wife) why our room wasn’t cleaned and he got very triggered again. On checking out, he again threw a hissy-fit, slamming the door after I left. What an angry, little man. ||Arguing with customers over 30 cent coffee pods for a two day stay costing almost $500 is insane. ||Reading several other reviews about similar treatment from this man about coffee, toilet paper, etc it’s clear he’s in the wrong line of work. We won’t be back. ||PS - the grounds are beautiful but the addition of the deer figures look cartoonish in a setting where many real...
