Park Inn Motel — Hotel in Fanning Springs

2 years ago I rode my bike across country. During that trip I had great experiences with lots of mom and pop run motels. The experience I had at Park Inn was comical at the time but seeing that they have 4 stars and even as of recently they are still dealing with a roach problem I felt I had to chime in. The hotel is filthy I mean that is every sense of the word. The room I was given had new carpet and since it was raining I opted to roll my bike inside the room. The caretaker was fairly nice but was concerned about his carpet (i protected it with my towel) I thought was a good sign that they take pride in their location. That was not the case. I woke up at aprox 12 am to a roach crawling on me and counted at least 6 running around the room. The only reason I selected to stay in this hotel is because when I arrived in Fanning springs it was raining at a rate of 2" an hour and erecting a tent in that is impossible. I am not scared of bugs but I prefer them be in their natural environment and not cooped up in a room with me and for that alone the stay was poor. I did not sleep the rest of the night due to the bug issue and the fact that there as a prostitute working the only other occupied room in the motel and every hour or so there was a new car in the parking lot. Woke up and rolled over the fanning springs for a recovery day. I would never stay at this location again and can laugh about it but certainly dont want someone going in with he impression they are getting 4 stars worth of experience. Absolutely awful! Roach bodies and other assorted bug bodies in the room. As well as live roaches, and a roach trap under the bed. Trash under the bed from other people and ashes in the room when I arrived. Dirt and dust everywhere. Bathroom rug was dirty. Comforter was dirty, and there was no blanket, carpet was sticky. No disabled restroom or tub. Manager was hostile, disrespectful to a disabled veteran, and rude. Check in staff was rude and a liar. Quoted a price via phone, and raised the price 5 minutes later at check in. Ended up costing $10 an hour, for a total of $85 for 8 and a half hours. Could not sleep in this filthy place. Bugs biting when I tried to sleep in the bed made it impossible to rest. Exposed wires and multiple safety violations. Only stayed because I am very ill and hoped to sleep. Bed bugs made that impossible and disgusting. As well as no video monitoring to protect my belongings in my truck that I was told I could not unload after I had paid. What you see in the advertised pictures is not what you will get. And if anyone doubts this, I recorded video of the filthy room as proof leading outside to show exactly where I was staying. Rat Trap ! Struggled through almost 2 weeks about a week ago. Cleaning lady was left in charge for long periods but never asked if we needed anything - had to ask her and she reluctantly helped. Moldy and musty. Bad air conditioner. Not clean or sanitary. Made us sick most of our stay. Manager DID NOT want to do anything for us most of the time - tried to talk his way out of almost everything we asked for ! Were told one day he could not clean because his cleaning lady was sick and he had just taken a shower and that he doesn't clean after 11:00 ... it was around 10:30 A.M. when most people leave and they START cleaning of course !! He would not let us change rooms even though we were his main guests for large periods and he did not want to clean our room.
