Always loved this beautiful spring,my whole life,it has a wide range of areas for nearly every level swimmer, from a wide shady shallows for babies and family, with grassy null for good picnicking to the moderately deep for more experienced with various depths gradually deeper and bluer towards the boiler, with areas of white bottom, patches of green and schools of fish,or large limestone rocks, on to the rocky-walled and majestic deep blue boiler, witch is comfortably large at,I'm guessing, 50ft across and 40feet deep, last time i checked, like 16 years ago. I did like it better before the installment of concrete and safety rails back when i was a kid,it was more natural and free feeling...i could adventure and discover more.now I'm closed off from the best areas i used to play.but, the boardwalk is a wonderful improvement, back when i was young, it was mostly inaccessible because it was falling apart, thus me and my brothers would explore that area by way of the cypress woods before emerging out onto the riverside across from a boat ramp, next to the slew where the springs empties into it..now a beautiful large seated gazebo overlooks the spot and the walkway is wide and many rest benches along the way.its lovely, but you are no longer allowed to venture free in the cypress knees, and for good reason, wild life. I wish they would start red belly day festival again, i know many folks who miss it so much. I loved the belly flop contest,i was a fat kid and could make a decent splash, but was too embarrassed about being overweight to ware a bikini, so i never won,but it was sure fun.i was too young for the fishing part of the contests, but there was many other things to do, the foods,crafts,music....well,that's all for now,y'all have a good time now,and please show respect for my beautiful pastime...
Read moreGreat swimming area. Cabin stay was ok until they made excuses to charge us more. It was a 5 day family vacation with kids. Rangers reimbursed our one neighbor because they filed a complaint for noise. Yep, only our one neighbor complained about noise --the moment they checked-in @4pm while no one else did. It was 4PM! If we were truly loud, everyone would've complained. They continued to complain throughout the whole day and got that free night from the park. We could've and should've filed multiple complaints as well but chose not to because we are not free loaders, and/or problem causers. Sink and bathroom drains never worked correctly since day 1. A DRESSER FELL ONTO MY CHILD BECAUSE IT WAS NOT ANCHORED TO THE WALL. We didn't even complain to the park about it. Now it came to bite us. Don't make the same mistake. So FYI, please stay at your own risk, complain as much as possible to get your free night(s). Otherwise, they will charge you for everything big or small. Almost forgot to mention ... found tons of ticks in the bathroom! My husband got bitten by one on this stay. Some animal came into our porch overnight and made a mess out of tied trash bags because there was no lock on the back porch door (didn't complain about it neither, just woke up and cleaned the mess up ourselves). Unfair how they cater to complainers but do not value those that gave them no issues. I'll be back there though. Next time I'll make sure to get my...
Read moreNice small park with beautiful Springs to swim in and it has very nice 2 bedroom modern cabins.
We came here in March of 2024. The Springs were flooded and there was no swimming available. We are back again in October and Springs are flooded again.
This isn't a problem for us though as its peaceful and quiet without the swimmers and there is plenty of other things to do. There's is a bicycle trail nearby called the Nature Coast trail that is paved and fun to ride our bicycles on. And the park is located about an hour away from Ichetucknee and Rainbow Springs for Kayaking. The Suwanee River is nearby also for boating and fishing.. but this River floods frequently and is what is preventing folks from swimming here. Water from the Suwanee River flows into the springs flooding ramps and access points and making the beautiful springs murky and full of debris.
So we are happy coming here for a quiet, peaceful atmosphere and kayaking and bicycling. The cabins are very nice and provide linens, kitchen, 2 bedrooms, large porch for $100 a night. Only a few of the State Parks have cabins like this and reservations are hard to get as they are popular. This is a small park that has 5 cabins available for rent, picnic areas, and primitive camping only. There is a Kayak launch onto the Suwanee River for those with their own Kayak. And there are other interesting State Parks nearby to visit. Grocery shopping is available 7 miles away in...
