Yes, a one star due to an encounter with a vicious dog. I will say the property overall was well kept, the breakfast was nice, and the room was comfortable and clean. Yet, this Home2 Suites will earn a single star for the following reasons. As I exited the elevator to go to my 4th floor room, I was met by a full grown German Shepard dog, on a leash, held by some stupid woman who instead of allowing me to exit the elevator, which is a common practice, instead allowed the dog to enter the elevator and was half way in the elevator when it saw me. She immediately tried pulling the dog back out. The dog went ape crazy, leapt toward me, barking and baring every glistening white fang in it's head. She continued to pull the dog back as the mutt continued it's insane reaction. Her significant other appeared and told the dog to back off. Never did I hear any words of apology and I was too dumbfounded to let them know what a couple of total idiots they were for allowing the dog to act in this manner. Later, I spoke to the front desk clerk who was on duty. I told him that at other pet friendly hotels I had stayed at, pets were restricted to the first floor. Nope, not at this place I was informed. Pets are allowed on all floors, thus the vicious German Shepard on the 4th floor. It appears the hotel management puts pets over people. And, doesn't really care if the pets are docile and friendly or totally insane, like the one that confronted me in the elevator. The pet's owners must be ignorant and idiots, first to not realize the a person should be allowed to exit the elevator before letting their insane mutt lead the way into the elevator ahead of them. Had the dog latched it's sharp teeth into my arm or leg, I would be suing the owners and Hilton Hotels. Fortunately I escaped bodily injury and was able to overcome the mental trauma foisted upon me by the policies of this property. Frankly, I think Hilton should compensate the stay at this property for their ill conceived pet policy. Keep your pet spaces on the lowest floor, forbid vicious animals, and put human safety and comfort as the first priority. Never again will I stay at this Home2 Suites in Fort...
Read moreEverything about this place was perfect for my needs. And every staff person I encountered was friendly, helpful, and professional.||Pros: |- very comfortable (if somewhat firm) bed|- softer than heaven sheets, other bedding very nice and cozy|- loved curtain between bedroom area and sitting room - I didn't have to make my bed when I had guests|- bathroom and shower was nice and well-appointed - I actually loved the shampoo and the body wash was good. |- Good light-activated nightlight made finding my way to the bathroom at night very easy without causing too much light disturbance in the room. |- Mostly quite, but for a small amount of dog barking in a nearby room (really wasn't bad, as the owners took him out as soon as he got riled up). |- comfortable sitting area with couch (hideabed I didn't use) and ottoman plus desk chair. Made for a nice gathering area for 3 people. |- pool was lovely and not heavily used (max people in the pool was 6, and my party was 3 of those)|- decent breakfast. Good waffles, standard selection otherwise. I didn't prefer the eggs for the most part. The oatmeal with all the fixings was my go-to. Coffee was good. The only day the breakfast area was really busy was when the All State High School Orchestra was in town on Saturday. Otherwise there were plenty of people but they didn't make the area feel busy. |- Did I mention friendly, helpful staff? Really A++||Cons: |- not the best TP. Not the worst, but less than average.|- I didn't get my every-other-day housekeeping (DND sign was on when they came by and they never came back), but I didn't need it so I didn't call and ask. No problem for me as I was one person with 4 sets of towels!|- Not really a "con," just advice - beware of Texas Roadhouse - not great for your digestive system the next day. Looks convenient, but it's worth just going to Matador, Noodles&Co, or even...
Read moreStill a very new property at 2 weeks old theres some kinks to iron out with both the physical property and the service culture. We will have stayed here 3 nights for a funeral and the staff has all been very freindly, and accomodating. There was an issue when we checked in with some very loud noises from the walls before we had set our bags down, they were very accomodating in finding us another room but failed to inform us it would be a downgrade from a king suite to two doubles beds. The manager never would come out to speak with us which is a service issue that can be corrected. We stayed that night despite being very upset at the issue and at 1:30 in the morning, we'd canceled our remaining nights, but the next morning after trying the very much smaller then queen beds and more like two double sized beds, they very very comfortable, the room was clean, the shade on the window blocked out all the light and decided to stay another two nights and moved my parents reservation from another hotel to ours. The manager was very apologetic the next day and had made a very gracious amends and comped our whole stay and was not expected out required and very well received! We also loved there were frozen entrees, and drinks in the lobby you could charge to your room, cook in your microwave in the room and eat with a real fork in your room. Very homey feeling minus any artwork on the walls which I believe will be installed as the hotel is a little older. Overall a great place to stay with lots of restaurants, liquor store, ice cream shop and coffee bar within walking distance. Will definitely reccomend for...
