I would have given this place four stars but this past evening was too much me to handle. I understand that Marriott is pulling in a massive amount of revenue from a Wisconsin family visiting Colorado for a wedding. A handful of those family members have been rude and inconsiderate to the rest of the guests staying at this hotel. The management have been quick to ask other families to stop various behaviors but yet that family could have gotten away with murder. They have been in the hallways in the wee hours talking at unacceptable levels uncaring that people are trying to sleep, yet they are the first to complain about noise during day time. This family has been rude during breakfast pushing past guests and nearly knocking over those trying to stand in line for beverages or food without nary an apology or an acknowledgement. This evening during the social hours the family monopolized the common area and became irate that a child was still present. One female in particular was most unbecoming in behavior and acted in a manner akin to a rabid buffalo. When my party brought this matter up with evening management they quickly brushed this off as nonsense and we were forced to retire to our room while the family took hold of the common area to play “dice” and drink beer. We have listened to our neighbors slam their door incessantly and smelled cigarette smoke from who knows where. I’ve been “schooled” about European child rearing from a hotel employee and how much more advanced their parenting is vs American parenting and how I’m failing my child with my parenting technique. I had no idea I was going to be “educated” by hotel staff during the food and social hour. My gratitude and then some, I assure you. Now that I complained to the evening front desk attendant regarding the hostile guests they have treated my family as though we are complete dirt bags. This particular employee rolls their eyes now when one of my family members makes inquiries or requests. Then they behave as though whatever we asked of them is going to be a monumental undertaking by beginning the task with an exasperated sigh. If you desire an experience that reminds you of a frat house with egos to match this is the place for you. The guests will not be a disappointment on the frat experience. From slamming doors all hours of the night to people sounding as though they are bowling above you. From rowdy carrying on in the halls to individuals shoving past others to guzzle down food. If you’re looking for apathetic evening staff, look no further. This place has you covered. If you want staff to turn on you the moment you ask to be treated with civility, and pay for that poor treatment, this might make your...
Read moreWe arrived at the Residence Inn Ft Collins on a cold and snowy night, Sunday, Dec 2, much later than anticipated. We had two travel delays, and the snow slowed us a s well.
One expects a certain level of service and hospitality, and one of the reasons I spend 10’s of thousands of dollars with Marriot is that level of service. Just the day before I had received an email reminding me of my special status as a Platinum Reward member. Imagine our surprise when we were greeted poorly, not offered a room upgrade, or amenity. She was upset that we were so late, and it seems we had awakened her. We had wanted a beer or wine and we were hungry after our travel ordeal. Thee clerk was very quick to say NO, no beer or wine for you! I guess a law, or part of the liquor license, but that is only a guess as she did not offer an explanation. She asked for a credit card for incidentals. On this trip, we were staying on reward points, on a special visit to see and meet our new grandson. We were excited to see our son and his family, our daughter in law, his two other children and our new grandson. We lived in Colorado for 40 years, but had moved to Wisconsin the previous year, and so family time was precious. We were in good spirits looking forward to this when we arrived to such a poor greeting.
We got to our room, after 1am, did some unpacking and prepared for bed. Before we retired, I saw that my CC had been charged $130. This made no sense to me. We were staying for free on points, had not purchased anything. Why would a hotel company not wait until the check out(like every other hotel company does) to charge for any incidentals? As a customer that has spent over 100k with Marriot over the years, are you afraid I might abscond with a bottle of water?
I decided to discuss this erroneous charge with the front desk the next morning. I tried 5 times over the next two days before I gave up. No one at the front desk, and no one nearby. No sign on the front desk, ‘back soon’. No one there to help.
Then there was the room….very drafty. We could not determine where the cold was entering(temp was in the teens at night). And the heater unit was as loud as a freight train. No luggage racks(when you rent to a couple, why is there only one luggage rack?).
Ok, so there is positive. The only reason this is not on Tripadvisor and other ratings sites is that the rest of the staff were outstandingly friendly. I gave up trying to work with the front...
The following review has been dictated by my 6 year old: "Thank you for my kindergarten graduation poster and everything! In the pool, on my last day, there were three people in the pool including me, all on their last day! I love the pool, and the breakfast buffet. My favorite part was the Belgian waffles. I love the things that we did, and the hotel. A woman named Michaela vacuumed up my glass for me, and she was really nice. And thank you to Linda for organizing my graduation party. I loved the trophy, and the lollipop and the bubbles and the card that everyone signed with fireworks on it. I would stay there again but this time for three weeks instead of just two weeks and a day. I also really want to thank the woman who gave me an extra Belgian waffle yesterday even though they were not on the buffet yesterday. Also I liked the snacks at the front desk a lot. and that I could ask for them myself. And the price was 2 dollars per two weeks and one day.
Comments from adult: This is really a great place especially for an extended stay. We had everything that we needed in our suite (oven, dishwasher, etc.), comfy beds, bath tub, etc. The pool is heated which meant we swam every day, and that also made it easier to accept that the hot tub is being repaired. The breakfast buffet is really a good one-- the staff are so kind and attentive and they have a great variety to please kids, adults and various diet preferences. The best part was really the staff, from maintenance and housekeeping, breakfast buffet, to the front desk. You made an annoying event (unplanned house repairs) a very pleasant experience, and especially for my son. We were there during high school and college graduation, and saw many displays related to that. So, as a suprise for my son, the front desk set up a poster (signed by everyone) and a card and some very sweet prizes when they learned that he was graduating from kindergarten. This was just so above and beyond! I have a very sweet precocious little boy and I just can't thank you enough for making his day! We will be back and will recommend to anyone who needs a place to stay in Fort Collins,...
