Service was TERRIBLE! It was something out of a sitcom. We stopped in after work for happy hour apps and drinks. Our server (Lauren) could not have been more annoyed by our presence. We laughed it off at first because everyone at the table was a former server, and bad days are understandable.. but it got really out of hand.
It started when my coworker asked to try a beer and she rolled her eyes. She charged her $3... which, fine, rules are rules and I understand it's a hassle to pour 2oz tasters. She could not have been more rude about it! (On a side note, charging $3 to taste a beer before purchasing a 16oz for $6 is HYSTERICAL! Do the math...)
It continued when we were brought the wrong food, and politely told the food runner that we were ordered burrata not bruschetta. Simple mistake (we honestly just thought we got someone elses' food). The food runner was super friendly and said she would look into it right away. Our server, Lauren, came bounding back to the table and shouted at our party, "That IS what you ordered, I LITERALLY repeated everything back to you!" She also told us that we should not talk to the food runner because she doesn't know what she's doing and that they were really busy so she didn't really have time for this. So basically, she didn't have time to do her job -- never mind do it correctly?
Lauren came back to clear dishes and rather than alert anyone that she was there and wanted to clear something, she pushed my arm out of the way and proceeded to snatch things from the table.
At that point, I asked for a check, and my boss asked for a manager. Honestly, the food was good and the atmosphere was cool. I would have given 4 stars -- But honestly, I can't even begin to understand how that server has a job. She also was training someone, so it is petty clearly an acceptable and encouraged way to treat customers at Otto Pint. It was really just a laughable experience. I will...
Read moreI visited Otto Pint for a birthday gathering. I am very gluten intolerant. The birthday girl, who is also gluten intolerant, said that Otto Pint has great gluten free pizzas, so I went with it. The service was not great. The server was more worried about carding my 50 year old husband for his non-alcoholic beer (she wouldn't even let me order it for him while he was away from the table) than ensuring that the pizza that came out for me was safe for me to eat (after a lengthy discussion about the importance of being gluten free). The pizza tasted great....and perhaps that's where I should have really worried. That night, less than 30 minutes after leaving, I was doubled over in pain, which lasted for the next 24 hours and then slowly subsided from there. As a person who understands my body well, I know that I ate A LOT of gluten....not just cross contamination. The next day, I called the restaurant about the issue and the manager said he wanted to research and get back with me. He called back and said that at the end of the shift the number of GF pizzas used and remaining matched the orders, so I must have had a GF pizza. That floored me. No real apology to speak of. He said I could come in for another pizza if I wanted, but that's a hard pass for me....there's no way I would chance feeling that way again. At the end of the call, I was so taken aback by his approach that I said "well I must not be sick then." There was nothing else to say! I felt very gaslit. No accountability. No room for even the possibility that pizza crusts got mixed up among the 12 of us at our table (where at least 4 GF pizzas were ordered....but not all for people with intolerances) or other tables. And no, our waitress didn't stop by to check to make sure that what I was eating was appropriate for me. I would not recommend going here if you have true gluten intolerance or celiac. You may very well find...
Read moreIn the past, I've thought this place was tops. Yesterday, I took my wife and kids specifically because of their gluten free pizza. My wife is allergic and often suffers for a few days after even in jesting a small amount of wheat products. In short, the food was amazing and we had a great meal... until the waitress came to check on us before bringing the check. She looked at my wife and said "Ohhhhh my gosh, didn't you want the gluten free pizza?" We both stopped and looked blankly at her as she began to explain that she had totally forgotten and that my wife had just eaten an entirely normal flour dough pizza. She then stopped and looked at my wife asking "you aren't going to die are you?" In front of my three young daughters. Let me say that my wife is entirely too kind and would have paid and tipped then went home to suffer alone. She told the waitress "it's ok", but honestly, it wasn't. I chimed in and said "actually, it's not... she will suffer for this at least for the rest of the day". I couldn't believe it when the waitress then stated "actually, none of our food is guaranteed to be gluten free". Wow, thanks genius. I then stated " I can't believe you did this". She brought us the check, which I would have been justified in not paying, and I paid anyhow to avoid a scene. We left, my wife couldn't eat dinner with us that night, and is still feeling the effects today.
Understanding that a restaurant cannot guarantee gluten free, I do however expect an effort when the menu makes the claim, I do not expect a server to defend her negligence, and I do not expect to have a member of my family asked if they will die. She did comp my wife's pizza, but does that even mean anything at that point.
I will...
