DO NOT STAY HERE IF YOU VALUE CUSTOMER SERVICE AND HOSPITALITY!
First of all, the room isn't quite as advertised. The "private" hot tub isn't nearly as private as you would think. Given the fact that when you go to Estes you're most likely not staying in your hotel room all day, the small room wasn't a huge factor. But the customer service from one of the ladies working there was abysmal. We checked out left on our last day to drive back to Denver to fly home later that night, and about 15 minutes outside of Estes I realized we forgot our keys in the dresser of the room. We turned around right away and I called the hotel to ask if they had received any items left behind from our room. Instead of trying to help locate our missing items, or offering to simply go check the room herself, the lady working the front desk got an attitude right away and told me over and over again in a very condescending tone that "sir, I already told you, there's nothing in my possession and room service doesn't come back with any missing missing items until 5pm, so I can call you then if we found anything and you could come back and get your item." I tried to explain to her that we flew out of Denver later that night so it wouldn’t be possible for me to come back to Estes that night given the fact that our flight left from Denver that night. Instead of attempting to be helpful she only became more rude. She made it well know that their hotel has the insane policy where if housekeeping discovers an item you’ve left behind, instead of turning those items in right away, they actually go around the rest of the day to other sites around Estes Park (with your lost items the whole time!) and then at 5pm they come back to Fawn Valley Inn and return your lost items. Who’s stopping them from discovering a lost credit card, going around with that lost credit card all day spending YOUR money, and then returning to the hotel at 5? This is a ridiculously unsafe policy. So, we drove back to the hotel despite the lady assuring us nothing could be done. My wife went inside and asked if housekeeping always cleans out all of the drawers. The lady insisted that, yes housekeeping always cleans out the drawers. The lady offered my wife the keys to the room so we could go check “if we wanted.” Well, we checked, and sure enough, the items we left behind (including our house/car keys for back home which, you know, are kind of important) were still in the drawer. So, not only do they have a very rude lady working the front desk for them, incredibly dumb “lost and found” policies, but they also don’t have housekeeping that actually cleans/checks the whole room/unit!
Like I said, the room was fine, but this experience of trying to get back the items we left was a nightmare. I’ve never left a single review of anywhere I’ve ever eaten/stayed at until now. That’s how bad the customer...
Read moreHad the cabin reserved for 2 months in advance, day of check in got notice that there was a plumbing problem with the cabin and they had another unit reserved for us. When we arrived we where informed that although the cabin had a gas fire place , our alternate unite had a wood fireplace and we could purchase wood if we wanted a fire. Desk clerk made it seem as if he was doing us a favor by making the other accomodation work for us. Even though extremely disappointed we where nice and understanding of the plumbing problem. There seemed to be a question as if we might need to pay more for the downgraded unit and overall experience we had been looking forward to for so long. The other unit they put us in had a very out of date hot tub that was 98 degrees and murky water. Next day , desk staff still grumpy and not very hospitable. After a day out we came back and asked again about our cabin and if it was available. Desk staff again grumpy, even cussing under his breath as he was looking on computer, finally said we could move over to the cabin. After moving all of our stuff(and we brought a lot of stuff) I returned the keys and some dvds for the other unit and said how grateful we where that at least we could enjoy one night in the cabin, I asked for an extended checkout and he said he could give me until 11 am!So... all in all, if you've taken the time to read this, I don't think they really have an interest or experience in guest satisfaction or the hospitality experience that guests would like. Although the cabin was nice, the other unit they gave us was a huge downgrade , they didn't even offer to give us fire wood for the alternate unite or a discount . We really enjoyed the cabin which was what we where looking forward to but half our stay was pretty blah, they never offered any compensation or where even very nice about it. If they would have given us at least an extended checkout maybe that would have been key, however there are hundreds if not more other similar places on the same road that would love your business and at least pretend that they care about your experience and all the time, effort , money and pain in the butt it takes for you to get up there. When I checked out it was a different person at the desk, they didn't really seem interested in our...
Read morePLEASE DO NOT BOOK WITH THIS RESORT!!!!!
Backstory: I booked a five night stay at this location through airbnb so that I could propose to my girlfriend at Rocky Mountain National Park. We stayed here one night and left as soon as possible the next day due to the cabin being unclean and infested with bugs, inability to adjust our hot tub temperature, lack of privacy, rude host and staff, and misrepresented listing.
Accommodation: This was marketed on airbnb as a "freestanding cabin" hosted by "rocky" it is not. It is a part of a large local resort that operates in the area. Upon our arrival, the cabin was INFESTED with spiders and insects. The decorations did not match the pictures I had seen, and we were told we were not allowed to adjust the hot tub temperature at all without the maintenance guy doing it himself from outside. There was also candy smeared into the carpet and onto the windows from a previous guest. When I spoke to the host they told me that wasn't possible because it was "professionally cleaned". There is also a large window in the bathroom that cannot be covered.
Host: The host and their employees were absolutely horrible to try to work or communicate with. After explaining that the cabin would not work for us due to the issues mentioned above, they have continued to refuse a refund for the nights we did not stay. They even tried to subtly insinuate that we had left the candy in the unit ourselves. They also told me "spiders sometimes find their way into homes". Thanks for the info, I'm not five. It was infested with them and other insects.
Location: The surrounding area is beautiful, but the cabins are all closely built together and feel incredibly crowded. You can stay at other locations for the same price or much cheaper that are higher quality and have actual hospitable staff. The cabin decor also did not match with pictures posted of it either.
tldr: Horrible host, infested with spiders and insects, misrepresented listing on airbnb, refuses to refund for nights NOT STAYED, bad amenities, terrible service.
Please do yourself a favor and never stay at this...
