Date of stay (late August 2014).
Overall, a great place to stay with family visiting the Orlando / Tampa area.
Pros:
Front desk staff seemed approachable and friendly. The facility was new or at least gave a new look (if you're particular about these things). The grass was all homogeneous where sidewalks, roads, elevators, and overall feel felt new. You can spot occasional smalls lizards, salamanders, and tiny frogs in the parking lot area. Great for kids to see if they're not used to seeing them. Great, open, modern, fully-equipped kitchen if you're looking to cook in and save $$ on a few nights in lieu of eating out. Close to the ever-perfect Publix where you can buy anything. Perfect, perfect if you typically eat healthy and cook your own meals. Saves $$ after hefty spending at Disney and LEGO themed parks. Open layout of living room, dining area, and kitchen gave a feeling of openness preventing claustrophic feel. Kids loved the pool and layout. The first night, the water had a strange smell, but the second night, it was better where you can smell the fresh disinfecting smell of chlorine. Can find nice shaded tables if you're looking to take a break from the sun at times. Gym was great with various dumbbell weight sets. Also, had a clean smell and feel where Clorox wipes and drinking water were available ... always a plus when these are available. Availability of clean, equipped bathrooms around the pool and gym areas. Gated, secured parking lot gave a feeling of safety. Complimentary DVD movies / PS3 games available at front desk. Upon check-in, the front desk staff gladly upgraded us from the 1-bedroom we booked to a 2-bedroom for free. Very nice gesture. Screened porch was great if you want to sit outside and enjoy the weather. Keeps the bugs and critters out while your wet clothes can dry on the chairs. Washer/dryer in the room allowed for all-clean laundry when we checked out and flew back home! A Big Plus! No daily disruption and invasive feel of housecleaning gave a feeling of privacy - this was a plus! However, the one-time cleaning fee noted below is the catch! Icemaker and bin in freezer allowed for easy ice to use in our insulated lunch bag where we kept the kids milks and drinks cold during our themed park trips!! Did I mention Publix close by??! The prices were not overpriced where you can easily stock up on supplies during your stay!
Cons: We could not get Wifi service in our room despite several requests ... VERY disappointing. Slippery bathtub. My kids and I slipped on several occasions ... be careful during your showers! Design of bed covers were unappealing ... could use a makeover. Televisions could use an upgrade to wall-mounted HD's. Limited DVD movie / PS3 selections at front desk. White oven range, dishwasher, and refrigerator did not match the modern kitchen look. Tuscana grill was slow in service despite nice tip given to bartender/waitress. Food was only okay despite the high prices. Remnants and evidence of hair leftover from previous stay were found numerous times in our room. Although our kids were running around the room, we could also hear footsteps/running from room above. $50 cleaning fee ($45 plus tax) No recycling bins easily visible. We had numerous water bottles, milk bottles, plastics, etc. that we left on our kitchen counter which I hope were recycled and not trashed!
Overall, for the price, we would stay here again and suggest to...
Read moreWe stayed here in preparation for the Disney wine and dine half marathon. For those that don't know, the race starts at 5:30 am and you must be at Disney by 3-4 am to catch the parking shuttle to the start of the race. As such, the participants were hoping to get to bed early in preparation for the early start on race day. The resort that we rented the room from had karaoke on Saturday night in the pool/bar area which is totally understandable. It was unfortunate that our room was located directly facing the pool/bar area where the karaoke was taking place. As someone who has experience with noise ordinances knows, the high volume music has to be terminated typically around 10 pm on any given night, depending on the laws that pertain to your local area. This was the case here in which 10 pm was the cutoff by law for loud music. I contacted the front desk earlier in the evening when we first heard the karaoke inquiring the conclusion time for the music/singing. I was told 10 pm. At 10:10, I contacted the front desk inquiring why the loud music had not stopped. They explained that it was going until 10:30 and was a private party event. No matter the party designation, having outdoor speakers blasting music past 10 pm is a noise ordinance violation. At 10:30, with the music still blasting, I walked to the front desk to determine why the music had not been shutoff. They then told me it was going until 11. At this point, I directed them to the noise ordinance laws pertaining to the local area and venue situation. I really did not want to be difficult and get the authorities involved but we just wanted some reasonable peace and quiet so we could sleep. They finally had the karaoke coordinators turn off one of the speakers that was oriented directly towards the residential area of the resort. Though this helped significantly, the volume was still way too loud for this time of night. I finally had to approach the bar manager because the resort staff continued to dismiss my requests and ask that the volume be turned down per the noise ordinance. He was nice enough and understanding of my situation and asked that the volume be turned down. As you can well imagine, we were quite frustrated at this point with the service and lack of respect we were shown by the front desk personnel and resort staff. The music was finally turned down to a reasonable level and we were able to get to sleep. On a good note, the accommodations were very nice inside our room and exceeded our expectations. We had everything we needed to enjoy our stay and the room was clean and tidy upon arrival. I would rate the room interior and accommodations 5 out of 5. However, if the resort staff continue to treat guests the way we were treated, I can't honestly recommend staying here. With other options available for rooms via Airbnb in the area, I recommend booking elsewhere until this resort has a chance to evaluate its customer...
Read moreI would like to make sure you are aware of the experience I had during my stay June 23-June 27. Building 2 unit 2205. The front office staff were both friendly and efficient. They gave clear directions to my suite, which had been changed, I booked a one bedroom and was given a three bedroom. I was shocked to receive a balance on checking in. I was told it was resort fees and cleaning fees. Not prepared but I paid. My first impression of the suite was that it was not very clean or well maintained. The front bedroom was missing the bedskirt and the closet had an ironing board but no iron. The on suite bathroom shower tile was dirty. I moved on the furniture in the living area is extremely worn and dirty looking. the middle bedroom was the cleanest looking but the bed was made in such a way that the bottom sheet did not cover the whole mattress. I did pull it apart and make it properly. The back bedroom had twin beds and the curtains were coming down off of the rod. I went to get ice from the freezer and it was one solid block in the ice bin. Still really trying not to be bothered, just need a place to sleep, shower and get dressed. The overhead light in that middle bedroom also not working and the lock on the door is very difficult, needs to be repaired. Still trying to remain positive. The breaking point for me came on my last night. I returned around 9 pm my suite was right next to the staircase and as I walked toward my room I saw there was a raccoon hiding under the step.. I was very nervous trying to open the door, the key was also tricky. I know raccoons can turn vicious if they feel threatened and he was very close to my door. I went inside and immediately tried to call the front desk on the living room phone. It did not work!! I called the number that was on the paperwork I was given and tried three times with my cell phone, phone tree and just got disconnected, not even an option to leave a message. I was worried about the safety of other guests and your staff and got no support. As much as I tried to brush things off and be more flexible about the conditions. No working phone and not being able to contact anyone left me feeling highly disappointed. I am in the business of making customers happy and am not in the habit of complaining. Hopefully these things can get corrected for future guests. Also no email to send this to. So this was my only option. Only saving grace...
