Oh, boy. So I was travelling from Los Angeles to Fresno for work every week. This has to be one of the most interesting. Staff I encountered during my stay was reasonable amiable and fast. I arrived later than expected (9pm) for my check in as L.A. traffic is highly unpredictable. Upon check in I had to return to my car to get cash for the deposit. Thats fine. But there was this tall, way older, African American guy that wanted my attention. He almost instantly asks me if I'm alone. I had to lie and say my husband was on his way. Still he proceeded to tell me "Well you know what I'm gonna ask. Imma be honest with you. I like you and..." DUDE, NO. "You don't even know me. I dont have time for this. Leave me alone." Still followed me to my car and waited for me to do what I had to do even trying to look in through my car windows. Mind you in this time there is an 2nd age white lady sitting with all her stuff on the sidewalk. Probably quicked out from one of the rooms was my guess by the sound of a conversation she was having. Apparently that happens a lot here. My second night I was woken up by very loud neighbors and their guests. My third day I was woken up by a 3rd age white lady yelling at some guy cursing at him at the top of her lungs and slamming her door in his face REPEATEDLY. Somehow staff did not bat an eye to this. Needless to say I felt extremely unsafe and uncomfortable my whole stay. Barely slept for fear that my car would get broken into or swiped considering how horribly the lot of people LIVING here park beside how loud it was. I was barely able to get in and out of my car every single day. Also people don't walk the hallway. They stomp like a migration of brontosaurus dinosaurs so be ready for that followed by bellowing to the bottom floor from right outside your door.
PS The water pressure sucks. You have to wait for ever for the water to get hot (turn to cold for hot..?). Took me way longer to shower because how low the water pressure was.
PPS Take important stuff from your car with you to your room and back to the car if you'll be leaving the room unnattended.
I guess the two stars is for the price and staff? Didnt use the fridge but it was a good accommodation aside from the kitchenette...
Read moreFor the $ you can't beat it- my room was not opulent but WAS clean, had everything you need and for at least $35 and more likely $40-45 less you'd pay to get something equal at another property. I LOVE that you can actually OPEN your windows! Fresh air seems disallowed almost everywhere else. I DO wish they'd provide you coffee and a little pot, but it may be available at the desk. And there are places All Around The Place you can pick those things up cheaply and come prepared next time. But MOST striking : I don't know how they train or select their customer service people but I travel all the time and during my June 21st check in I witnessed a young woman deal with the most singularly crazy, abusive and bizarrely demanding 'guest' I've ever witnessed. HE of all customers I've ever witnessed THOROUGHLY deserved to be shown the door. I've work with the criminally mentally ill, trust me: he was just disordered and TRULY, persistently abusive. That Customer Service desk clerk demonstrated an unnatural ability to remain professional and treated this crazed delusional thug with unwavering kindness, patience and the most respectful customer service I've ever encountered- which he in fact patently did NOT deserve. I remain in awe. She was a uniquely lovely, composed and amazingly warm young woman in the face of a truly muktu-faceted crazy, needy, attacking, demanding abusive sick man. She was AMAZING, and HE certainly caused you to notice. HER but actually all the customer service women were superb. I spent $190 a night at an establishment 3 nights before and felt barely tolerated, somewhat sysoect and certainly not 'welcome'. Fresno's Home Town, a comparatively low budget property, somehow really gets customer service right. The Radisson rooms were certainly more plush, but if their costs were equal, Id go for Home Town and the customer service 100%. Frankly, even if my stay were on the company, Home Towns customer service might draw me. And the location has it all, save scenic beauty, but I found it surprisingly quiet. A really good value...
Read moreMy family stayed for a week visiting family. The first night there was no hot water.” It’s because you have to turn the hot water to cold for it to get hot. “ they said. The second night the toilet stopped flushing, there is no maintenance here until the morning so we had to take the lid off the toilet and manually pull the plug to flush for two days until maintenance decided to come. 🤮🤮The third day at 6:30 am as we slept we were waken by RUDE Maggie from front desk because the silent alarm was on the smoke detector. We asked to be given an hour to clear the room Because my children were asleep. “No!! He’s coming up” she yelled. Then at 10 am housekeeping knocked on the door “I NEED TO SEE IF YOUR ROOM IS CLEAN “ she insisted. Asked to come back Thursday because we wouldn’t be getting back to the room til 3am she agreed. Then she returned the next day on Wednesday to ask the same question. Seems like the police are here everyday to arrest someone but i don’t understand why they haven’t arrested the homeless man that scared the heck out of me, my husband and children in the stairwell in the middle of the night. He was standing there with a bat. Oh and don’t use the stoves here because you will get a knock at your door from a older black lady asking you for some of your food. I left twenty dollars on the night stand with some other personals needless to say housekeeping has sticky fingers. For 500$ week we decided to go with the Extended Stay America for the remainder of our vacation. No one is here to harrass, the rooms are clean with no roaches, housekeeping does their job without the attitude, and the front desk is knowledgeable about there job! Unless you are down and out PLEASE DO NOT WASTE MONEY AND GOOD ENERGY WITH...
