Berated by staff member over coffee! I booked a deluxe room through an online booking site and when I checked in the first employee was very kind checking us in. However, when inside my room I noticed there was no coffee pot. I was informed upon check in that no coffee or breakfast in lobby, or housekeeping services were available due to virus. I returned to front desk to ask for a coffee pot, but another employee by the name of Gloria told me that not all rooms have a coffee pot. I explained to her that I booked and paid for a "deluxe" room. She asked for my room number apparently to see what I was entitled to, and in a scolding fashion began to tell me that I had to fix that with the online booking agency, that they have to pay commissions to them, and that for the rate I was probably getting it for anyway, did not include a coffee pot. The website I booked through in fact the only picture they showed next the "book now" button was a picture of a coffee pot and fresh brewed coffee! She asked that I bring down my laptop/phone to prove what it was that I booked and with whom. So I asked her what part of "deluxe" does a deluxe room make and she said she did not know since I booked online and I had to deal with them directly. I explained to her that as a customer I should not have to correct their contract with third-party booking agents and because they have to pay commissions should not be reason to be chastised and provided with less amenities as if they are doing me some big favor or privilege at a $100 per night! If anything, they owed me money for not providing the services they advertised (coffee/breakfast in lobby and housekeeping services not available due to virus). I asked if they could please just resolve the issue and get a coffee pot from another room for my 3 night-stay and she sarcastically and reluctantly gave me one of those cheap pod type brewers. In the morning I tried it and it was the worst tasting coffee I have ever had, and the cups provided for direct brew, melted as it filled with hot water and burned my hand in the process. I ended up going out for coffee! Upon check out, as I walked off the elevator, the smell of fresh brewed coffee perfumed the whole lobby as the front desk agent on duty was pouring herself and a gentleman standing in front of the front desk a cup of fresh coffee! Unbelievable that agent Gloria preferred to take the time to be condescending and rude, and upset me to the point that I had to defend myself over a lousy cup of coffee. I imagine the qualifications for her to be hired included some set of customer service and social skills, and not on her bitter personality! Grounds for review of this employee Red...
Read moreYou got to be kidding me. First let me start by stating Rafael was working when I discovered a family reunion of roaches all in my room and stuff. He was shaking as if he was scared to give me my refund I’m assuming because management makes that type of environment and cultivates a culture of fear. When I say a family reunion I mean there were adults and baby roaches EVERYWHERE in my room. I have an infant son whose skin is soooo sensitive he breaks out easily and even showed the proof he has these skin issues which is what prompted the refund. Rafael even said he was doing it at the risk of his job which makes me want to throw up because how dare he or anyone in this industry feel scared to do the right thing?!? That’s the most backwards crap I’ve ever seen. RAFAEL was the mvp for handling this accordingly. He deserves that management spot as he cares for the people. Now I was offered another room on another floor and that’s when I lost it …. I wanted to speak to the manager and was informed “she should be asleep” ITS 2 AM!!! ME TOO!!! With 2 kids and came straight from Disney resorts with no issues and no bugs. The manager needs to be held accountable for the bugs and the way I had to handle this and the fact that I’m driving around at 3:30 am trying to find a place to sleep with my KIDS!!!! Are you serious?!? Disgusting dude. I just am in such disbelief that the original solution was to wait until 11-12 the next day to speak to a manager about a possible refund. Rafael gave me my refund after I said I wanted the manager on the phone or in the building NOW and I just wanted to hug him for understanding the frustration and doing what WAS RIGHT. He deserves a raise or management title. Something, he deserves nothing bad his way whatsoever. I’m seriously so upset. Will be adding pictures soon. Gotta find a place to rest first. I just needed to say something and like now until I can get ahold of someone once I get my kids...
Read moreWhile it may not be a luxury hotel, it is clean, and the staff is professional, making an effort to accommodate their guests. We stayed at this hotel from April 29th to May 5th to celebrate our daughter's graduation from UF. We wanted to spend a few days with her and revisit Gainesville, touring her classrooms, the library, and the places where she used to eat. We checked in on Tuesday, April 29th, around 4:30 p.m. I don’t remember the name of the young man who assisted us at check-in, but he was very kind and professional. He allowed me to inspect three rooms. In the first room, the window wouldn't close properly, leaving an opening of more than an inch, as shown in the photos. The other two rooms had similar issues. In the second room, the air conditioning made an unpleasant noise. The third room faced the front of the building on the same corner and received a lot of sunlight, making us concerned it would be uncomfortably hot. To mitigate the issue with the window, I purchased painter's tape at Home Depot and sealed it to prevent bugs from getting in, especially at night while we were sleeping. The rooms are spacious, and the bathrooms are comfortable. I appreciated that the sink is in a separate area from the shower, allowing someone to use the sink without disturbing whoever is showering. There are no rugs in the room, just under the beds, which helps maintain cleanliness, as carpets tend to collect dust and dirt. The sheets and towels were clean and did not have any unpleasant odors. I always bring my own pillow protectors to ensure a clean sleeping surface. The bathroom was also clean, although I typically travel with Clorox wipes to disinfect the area before use. During our stay, we spoke with Jose at the front desk, who was also very friendly and professional. In Gainesville, hotels can be expensive during UF event times, and while this place was pricey, it was a decent option...
