Never again! First we specifically booked the suite because it had a two person spa bathtub in the room. We get to the room and call down because it looks dirty and ask for someone to clean it. We're told - we're sorry the spa tub is out of service. Then, can we have a different room then? No they are all out of service - under renovation. The website should have told you that when you booked. Well - no it didn't. Second breakfast is edible but not barely and multiple items were running out and we had to go to the front desk to get them to get someone to get more forks so we could even start to eat. We only ate here the first morning of our 3 night stay. It wasn't worth going back the second and third mornings we were here. We chose to go out and buy breakfast even though there was free breakfast here. Third, free Wi-Fi was sometimes non-existant (phones couldn't find it), then the second night it finally found it, but it was so slow we disconnected and went back to cellular. Our room was center of the building, the second floor directly above the lobby so you'd think the service would be decent. Fourth, the back door to the building was unlocked 24x7. (The sign by the door says it's locked all the time.) So security is lacking. Fifth, the vending machine was out of order the entire weekend. Sixth, the beds are hard and stiff and the pillows they give you are little squares. They don't even have regular sized pillows. Didn't sleep well at all. Seventh, we asked for a late checkout for Sunday morning when we were leaving. We're heading to the butterfly exhibit from here and they don't open till 1. The evening front desk person said no way, there's 56 people checking out tomorrow morning. We can't have any late checkouts. We asked 56 people and one can't check out late. He said nope, I'm not getting in trouble by giving anyone a late checkout. We only have 8 people to clean 56 rooms and you can't check out late. (My thoughts - Hmmm - with 56 rooms to clean I think they have plenty of choices of rooms to keep them busy even if a few people check out late.) But he seemed scared to death of approving a late checkout - like he would get fired or something.
So, that's fine, well not really, but fine I'll checkout at 11 and I'll never be back. There are dozens of hotels up and down this road to choose from the next time I'm in Gainesville. It definitely won't...
Read moreWhen you travel with pets, there’s always an issue with where do you stay. There are several sites that can help with finding pet friendly hotels and but after reviewing the listings, we’ve always found it best to call ahead and verify the details.
While traveling west, we found ourselves stopping in Gainesville for the night. We rode around for a while searching and found that the Comfort Inn was listed as pet friendly. We checked the reviews and they were very good.
We called ahead and spoke to Shamier. He was very pleasant and he advised they did have a vacant pet friendly room for the night so we decided to check it out.
We arrived at the Comfort Inn and it was in a great area of town. When we went in we were greeted by Shamier and the smell of fresh popcorn. What a great start.
The check in went smoothly and in no time we had a room with 2 queen beds that was pet friendly.
After getting our gear and pets in, we checked back with Shamier about a good place for salads locally. Since it was Christmas night, we knew not many places be open. He suggested the Olive Garden not far away. We headed that way but sadly, it was closed. The good news was TGIFridays was open. After a slight wait, we had a couple of salads and headed back to the hotel.
The next morning we enjoyed the eggs, sausage, sausage gravy and biscuits offered just off the lobby. They also had waffles and bagels. The coffee was outstanding. We received a great Good Morning from Natalie and told her how great it was they had special, pet friendly rooms. She was fun to talk too.
After loading up our gear and our guys we had to hit the road. The Comfort Inn was convenient to the highway.
Many THANKS to Shamier & Natalie for a great stay. We would recommend it to any travelers and pet owners will love it.
Cheers,

Read moreNice hotel, it's dated and needs some updates but overall good. I had booked on the app for the whirlpool room and when I checked in discovered I was in a standard room. Upon talking to the staff, found out they are in process of taking out non functional tubs. I was moved to a room with a tub that they weren't sure if the jets worked. I didn't care if they worked, I just wanted to soak in a large tub as I don't have a tub at home, only a shower and I try to book whirlpool rooms when traveling. The tub was fantastic to soak in!! Thank you for fixing that for me! I didn't even try the jets. The bed was not that comfortable, it was really hard. The couch was softer than the bed and that's where my husband ended up sleeping and I managed on the bed for the first night. Early the next morning I went and bought 2 mattress toppers (to give a total of 3" foam top) and added to the bed for the 2nd night and that was much better! I ended up leaving one of the toppers when we left (you're welcome!). Please consider having night stands for both sides of the bed. Both of us use a CPAP Breathing device to sleep and the bed only had one night stand and no additional plugs near the opposite side of the bed. I had to get an extension cord to be able to plug in my device when we first went to sleep. After my husband moved to the couch it was fine because he took his machine and plugged in behind the couch, but just keep in mind that people might need plugs on both sides of the bed. We were there for my husband to have surgery at The Oaks and it was only 5-10 min away. We didn't get a chance to try the breakfast since hubby couldn't eat for surgery, and the day after surgery we didn't get up in time for breakfast. Definitely would stay again! It's close to everything, especially Walmart for any...
