DO NOT STAY HERE! I stayed here for 2 weeks for business purposes. I've never stayed in such a trashy Hilton hotel! I checked in after midnight, exhausted after traveling and was given a room which faced the utility roof. The room was musty and dirty. The carpet had visible stains and the bathroom had obviously not been cleaned in a long time. Probably because it was a room of punishment (see photo) and no one had stayed there in a long time. I called the front desk and requested another room. I was told the hotel was booked and to check the next day. The very next morning at 7am, I went downstairs and requested another room and was reassigned immediately. I knew the hotel wasn't booked-up then because no one checks out and cleans a room in the middle of the night! So, it confirmed my suspicion that the night guy lied. I quickly took my bags to the 2nd room and hurried off to work. Upon returning that evening, I had time to properly inspect the room. It was just as dirty. It had heavily stained carpet, old furniture and the chair had dark stains on it. I inspected the bed and sprayed it and everything else down with Lysol. I never sat on the upholstered chair because it was disgusting! The bathroom had absolutely no attention to detail in cleaning. It was dirty. There was the plastic clear film left from someone's Bioré strip left in the sink. The toilet was slow flush and the seat needed to be cleaned because when I sprayed it with Lysol and wiped, there was visible dirt. The faucet leaked all over the bathroom counter whenever the water was turned on. The door and walls were filthy with hand smudges, makeup and whatever else, and the mini fridge barely worked. The view was better but the seal on the window was broken so it was basically obstructed by the white filme which had formed over time. After the 4th day, I called and asked for fresh towels and asked for the leaking faucet to be addressed. I was told someone would come that day. I come back to the room later that evening after work, no one had been there. I was too tired to argue that night and called back down there the next morning. The girl apologized and I was told the same thing. When I returned that night, they did replace the towels but no one had adjusted the faucet. I gave up and wrapped a towel around it. That weekend there was a traveling sports team there, the halls were filled with running, screaming kids and slamming doors until late hours in the night. I spoke to some other guests who were equally annoyed. Apparently, it was like this on every floor - from the lobby to the 3rd floor! The hotel did nothing! My 2nd week was where the hotel truly showed it's colors...personally, I NEVER leave food in my room or outside my door. I always go to the trash because I don't like the smells of old food and it encourages bugs. I get in late one night after a long day and flip on the light to see a roach walking on the desk! I was horrified! I've never stayed at a hotel with roaches! My immediate reaction was to go downstairs and demand another room, but then I thought, if it was in my room...they were everywhere! With the grace of god, I was able to kill it. I made sure by luggage atyed zip closed and I tried to dismiss it until a couple nights later, I came back to the room and saw another one!!! From that night on, I left the lights on all day and night and hoped I didn't see anymore. I was just trying to make it one more night...my FINAL night! I was never soo happy to check out of a "hotel"! There was lots in the area but as for the hotel, it needs help in EVERY area! If you care about cleanliness...Do Not Stay Here! You've...
Read moreTerrible customer service. I will say there was only one man that was super kind and grey haired woman with white hair that was funny and nice working the breakfast area. (unfortunately I did not get their names but they were working the early shift on 6/8/24) . However, other than that, the experience was terrible. The lobby of the hotel looks pretty and updated but the rooms are absolutely horrible. We had paint falling off the ceiling with an obvious moisture situation. Muggy and lousy in the room. Air conditioning wasn’t getting cold. The television wasn’t working properly so I called to get someone to fix it and the front desk girl told me she would call the technician and hung up the phone on me as if I was annoying her to even suggest someone should come help me. 30 min later no one came. I went downstairs and found that in fact NO ONE had called the technician. This is addition to several calls to the hotel the day before my arrival to ensure I had the room I wanted. (Important note. I made the reservation 2 weeks in advanced). When I made the first call the employee’s first response was to tell me all rooms were booked and they had no rooms available. Still, I had already checked the app and there were several rooms available AND I had an actual reservation so i absolutely did have a room assigned. He seemed to want to just get off the phone. He then hung up on me (hopefully by accident) and I called back three more times all of which ended in a disconnected call until finally on the last call I somehow I got the accountant (weird) and she was very nice and helped me pick a room out from the map on the app. When I arrived they had “moved some things around “ and I no longer had the room I had spent so long on the phone earlier picking out. I surrendered and took whatever they had for me all the while the girl at the front desk had a lazy attitude about her and acted like we were bothering her. It was very poor customer service. To add insult to injury… we were never offered their cookies. This last part is in jest bc I wouldnt have eaten the cookies but this is doubletrees “thing”… additionally I can not over state enough how bad the quality of the room was. The bathroom was ehhh and although I am very well aware that a doubletree is not top of the line Hilton, I was very surprised at the lack of quality and cleanliness especially because Hilton has a reputable name. I will never stay at a doubletree again and possibly will switch to Marriott rewards membership . Very very...
Read moreI generally like DoubleTree by Hilton. When I am looking for a place to stay I usually equate this brand with a place I can trust to provide excellent service and facilities. This particular location in Gainesville did not meet the standards I am accustomed to. In comparison, I stayed at the Indigo the night before for 20% less per night. The Indigo was extremely modern, fresh, CLEAN, smelled great, the service was excellent. Unfortunately they did not have any food service available yet due to COVID which is why we looked for a new place. DoubleTree advertised breakfast, and other in hotel dining options. When we checked in we asked about the restaurant and were advised nothing was available. That was disappointing and a little deceiving. I think you should update your advertising. The worst part of the stay was the smell inside the hallways of this hotel. I don't know what it was but it smelled so bad!! Almost like there was a water leak or something that had soured and mildewed together. Inside the room it was not so bad. The room itself was furnished nicely. Unforunately it was not clean. I ran across the street to Target and bought some Lysol and did a quick once over to make me feel better. The shower was very awkward. You can't reach in and turn the shower on to let the water warm up and then step in. You have to go all the way into the shower stall, turn the water on and get wet with the cold water and then step out and wait. The design was the worst I've ever seen in a hotel! The first night we woke up and there were ants on the dresser that the TV sat on. I smashed everything I saw - made sure we didn't have any food sitting out and we had to rush out to Shands. When we returned late that night, more ants...on the side tables and the bathroom too! In addition the thermostat was not working at all. We called the front desk and they sent maintenance who fixed the thermostat quickly but told us there's nothing he can do about the ants until we check out. I also reported the ant issue to the front desk when I checked out. On top of all of that - there is no room service and they provide 2 towels and the absolute minimum amenities - toiletries and coffee. If you don't have daily service at least make sure guests have enough supplies for more than one day! I initially gave this experience a 3 but after writing through all the issues, I have to say it deserves no...
