Overall review: Honestly of the 3 different healthy chipotle styled alternatives (vale, grill fresh, bolay), Bolay is my favorite. Their food is just more high quality than the others (imo of course). You cannot go wrong with anything here and not only is it delicious but it is healthy! I never feel guilty when I come here and I always have a great time ordering from here. Whenever I come here I usually get my CantGoWrong bowl (in food section below) but it will vary depending on my mood. It’s always good to switch things up and experiment sometimes and this place is a good changeup from regular fast food or eating out places. The shrimp and steak are $2 extra which is pretty expensive but it is worth a try if you have not had it before. They too taste fantastic!
Food: 5/5 --Just about everything on the menu is fantastic. I personally am not the biggest fan of barbecue flavors so I do not get the barbecue chicken. My CantGoWrong bowl includes the following: 1 large bowl 2 Bases: Hot Asian Sweet Potato Noodles and Kale Yeah Salad 2Veggies: ginger broccoli (or cauliflower) and herb roasted potatoes 2 Proteins: lemon chicken and pork tenderloin (maybe shrimp if I’m feeling the extra $2 btw their shrimp is fantastic too) Add-ons: freshly chopped cilantro, minted tomatoes
Price: 4/5 --I would say this place can be a little more on the pricier side compared to chipotle, grill fresh, and vale without gator greenbacks or any coupons. Luckily this semester, they have gator greenbacks for BOGO so this is a steal. $12 for 2 large bowls!!
Atmosphere: 5/5 --Nice indoor and outdoor seating. Great place to just get some food with friends and catch up or hang out. Most are college students or young professionals just dropping by to get good healthy-ish food.
Service: 5/5 --Everything is usually very quick even when there is a long line. I have not had one bad experience here. All the servers are really nice and get things...
Read moreWhenever I'm craving something lighter and more on the nutritious side I just other choose Fresh Kitchen or Bolay. I'm never disappointed but one time I did notice the terriyaki chicken was a little on the chewy cartilage texture side.
I get the regular bowl but if I want leftovers for the next day I get the large bowl. I get the sweet potato noodles, broccoli and alternate depending on what craving with black rice or the kale salad. My protein is the teriyaki chicken but I would like to try the garlic pepper steak it's just that it never looks appetizing to me (I love Fresh Kitchen's steak personally) and not sure if the $3 up charge is worth it portion wise. For my toppings I get red onions, cilantro and Parmesan cheese. The Creamy garlic & herb sauce is a must and I always get extra. I've frequented this place many times and quality is great across the board.
Service is quick and everything is always great here. For the amount that you pay you can relax and know that you are eating a fibrous lunch or dinner with a good protein. I probably come here every 3-6 months since I don't eat out as much as I used to but this is deff a go to for me. This is also one of those places that if you know you’re eating heavy later in the night you have to prep your stomach for it and I’ve come here before main events that I know will serve a lot of carb heavy or meat...
Read moreFinally! A restaurant where the food is truly full of healthy nourishment.
While many establishments market themselves as “healthy,” Bolay truly sets a new standard on that word and raised the bar with its choices on oil and freshness. The cherry on top is how delicious they’ve made healthy food and how great the service can be when you effectively train the right people.
This is the only restaurant at this price point that feels equivalent to me cooking at home with spices, sauces and fresh garlic.
The customer service also goes beyond any restaurant I’ve ever eaten at—even Michelin Star level. If Bolay went public on the stock market, I’d be one of its first investors because this kind of restaurant is what people that want a healthier lifestyle have been craving for.
My favorite plate is a Large Bowl with half pesto noodles, half Jazmine rice as the base, maple sweet potatoes (mmmm), the medley of beans on the rice, glazed tofu on the noodles, and either salmon or teriyaki chicken with fresh cilantro on top. Two pesto sauces on the side to pour on the pesto noodles for extra goodness. It’s so good, that I haven’t gotten tired of it in 4 months of eating it almost every day.
After eating here for the 100th time, I can say I’m pretty grateful for this location’s team, for its food, and for their...
