TO: Management
My family and I were guests at your hotel from June 8th through June 12th. Unfortunately, our experience was extremely distressing and far below the standards we expected based on the information we received at the time of booking, and online advertisements.
Upon our arrival at WinStar World Casino, we were immediately disappointed by the misleading information provided by your booking staff. Our conversations were recorded, and it is clear we were deliberately misinformed about the amenities included with our reservation.
The entire duration of our stay was unprofessional and deeply unsettling. As a result, we will likely never return nor recommend your establishment to others. What was meant to be a pleasant getaway quickly turned into a nightmare.
However, we would like to commend the following housekeeping staff for their professionalism and courtesy: Director Orlando, Manager Jeremy, Maria, and Inspector Jamie. Their efforts stood out amid an otherwise unacceptable experience.
On June 9th, a female security staff member interrupted a private conversation I was having with my family to comment, “I don't think it’s a good idea to bring your kids to a casino.” This remark was both unprofessional, unsolicited, and very disturbing.
More disturbingly, on June 11th, a Jani-King employee entered a family restroom without knocking. At the time, my 4-year-old daughter, who has Down syndrome, was being changed by her mother, and her private areas were exposed. When this was reported, the Jani-King second shift supervisor, James, concluded, along with his superior, that the incident was the fault of my daughter’s mother for not locking the door.
This lack of empathy and accountability is unacceptable. Stephanie now feels deeply unsafe, and we are appalled at the failure to protect her and our daughter in such a vulnerable moment.
To make matters worse, when we attempted to escalate our concerns, the General Manager(s) refused to speak with us at all, as if our experience and concerns didn’t matter. This added insult to injury and made us feel completely dismissed and disrespected.
Additionally, front desk and guest services staff repeatedly encouraged housekeeping to enter our room each day, often without our permission. This continual breach of privacy was unwelcome and inappropriate.
We were also very concerned by the layout of the casino itself.
The designated smoking area is located at the main entrance, subjecting families, children, and non-smokers to secondhand smoke exposure. This is a serious health hazard and reflects poorly on your facility’s regard for guest well-being.
We strongly recommend relocating this area to the rear of the building. The presence of numerous openly accessible bars further contributes to an environment that is not family friendly.
Lastly, while we were aware of the incidental and resort fees, $75 per night for incidentals and $10.70 per night for resort fees. we were not refunded the appropriate amounts upon check-out. Despite our understanding of these charges at the time of booking, the failure to return the applicable funds is unacceptable. This lack of reimbursement appears deliberate and amounts to a serious breach of trust, if not outright theft.
Throughout our stay, we felt disrespected, unsafe, and in some instances, subjected to biased and discriminatory behavior. These egregious incidents require immediate attention.
We are formally requesting that these matters be thoroughly investigated and that we receive fair compensation for the distress, inconvenience, and financial impact we endured.
NOTE: I am a registered Cherokee Nation citizen. Also, Choctaw and Creek.
We expect a timely and professional response.
Sincerely, La’Ron...

I’ve been a long-time visitor to Winstar Casino, and I can honestly say that things have changed significantly—especially after COVID. Before the pandemic, I used to hit some great jackpots—$2,000, $3,000—and my mother even hit a life-changing $40,000 win. It wasn’t uncommon to see people around us winning $2,000 to $25,000 jackpots. The atmosphere was exciting, and you actually felt like you had a fair shot at walking away with something substantial.
But after COVID hit and the economy started to struggle, those big wins have practically vanished. Over the past two years, I’ve been keeping an eye on things and even talked to dozens of other players. What I’ve seen and heard confirms what I’ve been feeling: the payouts just aren’t there anymore. Most of the jackpots I’ve seen lately are in the $1,500 to $2,000 range—and that’s usually after players have already lost a significant amount. You might win, but often it just feels like you’re getting back what you’ve already spent.
To me, it just doesn’t seem worth it right now. The economy’s tough, and dropping your hard-earned money into machines that no longer seem to pay like they used to isn’t the best idea. My advice? Save your money and wait. When the economy improves, maybe the casinos will loosen up again. Until then, you’re better off holding onto your cash.
And with all the luxury that Winstar showcases—giant gaming floors, upscale restaurants, hotel towers—you’d think they could invest in a top-tier air filtration system. But no. Every time we leave, we smell like we just crawled out of a dingy, smoke-filled dance club. Even when my mom and I play in the so-called “non-smoking” areas, the cigarette stench is overwhelming. It’s not just unpleasant—it’s unhealthy. Winstar, with all the money you’ve collected over the years, it’s time to step up and give your guests a cleaner, more breathable experience.
Also, with the way things are, you’d think they could at least offer free alcoholic beverages to players. But nope—nothing’s changed in that department either. At a time when people are struggling, it really feels like the casino is squeezing players more than ever. It’s disappointing.
Just my personal opinion, but based on conversations with many other regulars, I’m not alone in feeling this way. Be cautious and think twice before planning your next trip to Winstar—or any casino, for...
