Worse place I have ever been to. First I requested a room with a jetted tub. When I walked into the no smoking 🚭 room it smelled like someone smoke a whole pack of cigarette 🚬. Then I looked at the jetted tub which color was black but you clearly see the soap scums marks. You can tell it wasn’t clean. The wallpaper is old and coming off. Curtains are being hold down but a string to avoid the air conditioner to blow it up (ghetto) the ceiling where the sink is at is all moldy and the light fixture too and has no cover. Towel rod bent. They had a sofa in the room that looks as if they took it out of the trash and place cushions from another sofa to it. I went to complaint mostly about the smell and dirty jetted tub. I was told they had no more rooms with jetted tub. The person who attended me gave me an air freshener aerosol of fresh linen. I went and sprayed the whole room and left the door open waited for about 1/2 hr. and they smell of cigarette 🚬 again came back. So I went back to the front desk and requested for a refund I no longer wanted the room. He said it was non refundable specially since I purchased it by hotwire. So I told him give me another room but I want a discount. He at first only offered me a $10 discount for a room that doesn’t have a jetted tub. I said no. Their was a couple deciding to get a room and they wanted to see my room so they went with me and agreed to the heavy smell of cigarette 🚬 (and we all have mask 😷 on) I guess they saw me on camera showing the room that the guy in the front called me and asked me how much of a discount I wanted for a regular room. I paid $174 rounded for the jetted tub. I told him I wanted at least a $50 discount. So he agreed and told me I had to call hotwire and tell them I wanted full refund of my non refundable reservation because I wasn’t satisfied. I told them the how story they called the hotel and he told them to give me full refund. Then when they showed me the 2nd room I didn’t like it either. Not worth it even though this room looked better but still looked filthy and need work. (Something fresh paint could help and stripping off old wallpaper). So I opted to not to rent no room and go back home. 2 1/2 hour drive from Atlantic City to the part of Pennsylvania I live in. My weekend getaway with my husband was ruined. I rather go home 🏡 than spend $174 on a filthy room. I have a clean bed 🛌 and shower 🚿 waiting for me at home 🏠. So disappointed but I thank him for allowing me get my full refund on my non refundable reservation and thanks hotwire for getting me a full refund. I have proof of everything mentioned here in pictures. So I give this place a 0 (zero) out...
Read moreWe were greeted nicely. We mistakenly booked a smoking room, we don't smoke, and the owner was willing to change our room w/o going through the new process of reserving a non smoking room .
However, the first look inside the room shows pleasant and exciting by the blue wall paint and nicely made beds. When we started settling in and unpacking we noticed several unpleasant things and I wish I would have took pictures to support my review.
Unwashed dirty hand towel - it was folded for display and ready you, when I grabbed it to use it in the fold was a hard brown substance, showing this clearly wasn't washed.
Comforter sheets looked dingy and unwashed and this is only noticed when you pull them back to reveal the underside not the top design side.
The water flow for the sink outside the bathroom was very poor. As we washed our hands it filled up the sink bowl and took a long time to go down. Only to further inspect the drain and find it was clogged with hair. My husband used a plastic bag to grab a glob of hair, but there was more hair further down that was unreachable. When we ran the water again we saw pieces of hair floating out while it continued to fill up again.Honestly, we turned on the tub for water and brushed our teeth and washed our hands there because the other sink was just disgusting.
The bath towels were questionable because of the dirty hand towel we found. And actually we found a stain on one of the towels which made us question even more if they were clean.
Room smelled old and musty.
Rug looked old and dirty. Not ever conditioned probably.
Shower curtains were bingy and moldy. Saw spots on it.
Tub was dirty with soap scum.
We had a double bed room. One mattress was soft and the other was very firm and stiff. And not firm like a firm mattress, like firm as if it was on the wrong side and needed to be flipped over.
Apart from that, the location was about 25 minutes from the boardwalk. Close to ShopRite, liquor stores, gas stations and shopping plazas. There was a fridge and microwave in the room. Hangers and rack to hang clothes. Found no insects or rodents. TV was in room as well but limited channels. No pool.
To end, if your looking for somewhere on short notice, just a room for the weekend as in 2 days, inexpensive like under $300, could work with these room conditions for a short stay, then book this room. But if you want a hotel experience book at a higher quality and...
Read moreAbsecon and Galloway aren't known for havging great choices at the low end...in fact, it'd make an interesting reality TV show to compare landside Atlantic City's bottom 5 with Orlando's.||||This place almost merits three stars, but I gave it two because of the pricing games. It'll show at $13 on hotels.com, for example, but if you click all the way through it magically becomes $28.12. Gee, Wally, that's more than double! I know New Jersey isn't the lowest-tax state, but I seriously doubt they tacked on that much extra without lots of junk fees. ||||If sites turn a blind eye to this practice then their prices in big numbers become meaningless, and we already had the battle over this with airline pricing (finally the government had to step in and require all mandatory fees rolled into the advertised amount). There's a long histoey of this kind of behavior in Las Vegas, what with "PPDO" pricing and resort fees that were hidden at first. Bottom line: What you initially see may be nothing like what you pay. Some of the other cheapies were doing this same sort of thing, and if sites like hotels.com don't step in, then it'll just lead a race to the bottom.||||(Added disadvantage: If you have a percent-off deal, like 15% off, for the website, it'll only be applied to the $13 for a hotel like this, whereas for one that plays it straight with a $26 rate + actual taxes it would apply to the $26 and you'd save more).||||As for the accommodations, they're generally par for the price level. TVs are mounted and smallish but channel selection is good. The building is not offset very far from the very busy White Horse Pike (U.S. 40) with cars and some trucks whizzing by, so I wouldn't recommend rooms 101 or 102 for that reason. Walls are thin-ish, so you don't want noisy neighbors. Was lucky there.||||Worst thing about my stay was a noticeable and disagreeable residual headsmell in all 3 pillows...needed to put towels over them to use. Thankfully, though, the non-smoking room didn't smell like it had been smoked in, and they charge a $150 cleaning fee if it was.||||And the thing is, you could probably easily find worse in Absecon or Galloway. There are a lot of low cards. So while I can't recommend this place by any national standard for 1-star places, it's possible locally...
