There was no desk clerk when we arrived on Sunday afternoon 02 March around 4:15 p.m. and no bell with which to call one. There were two men sitting in the breakfast room talking. After several minutes, one of them got up and made his way to the desk so I could check in. I was not acknowledged as a Hilton Honors member. A notice, new since we stayed there late November past, stated they are going cashless. ||I had reserved an upgraded room. That was a mistake. There was no door between the sink area and the bedroom, which we do not like. Even a curtain would be an improvement. There was a bright nightlight next to the sink which we unplugged. It was worthless, anyhow, unless one wanted to wash their hands in the middle of the night. To use the toilet, in the little room with the walk-in shower, the very bright light had to be turned on. And the toilet was almost as low as what we called "bomb sights" when I have been in Turkey, Egypt and even Russia... a hole in the floor.|| In the outer room there was no desk, but a higher than average table. Regular dining chairs were at it, and they were too low for this table. It was difficult for me to use my laptop. When first measured, the Internet speed was only 3.4 Mbps down, but 4.8 up. It was slightly better in a second test at 5.2 down, but only 4.4 up. ||The only mirror was over the sink. There was no full length mirror. The room had no drawers, but there were three wire baskets in a large console-type thing on which the TV sat. There were no towel bars in the bathroom. On one side of the bed, the small fixture that served as a bedside table was mostly covered by a large table lamp; on the other by a large hotel telephone. No drawers, as I said, just a short, worthless pull-out tray, whose purpose is completely unknown.||Breakfast was the usual and the robust coffee, which was labeled as "dark" on our last morning, was okay. The second morning was an inedible egg-white frittata. It was so hard that the plastic knife could not cut it. The nuke-and serve-omelet on our third morning was much better.||With the exception of the lazy desk clerk when we checked in, the whole staff was very friendly, in particular the lady who takes care of the...
Read moreWe had booked for 4 nights through Saturday after Thanksgiving. We had room 334 on the Highway 17 side. Although all staff were quite friendly and pleasant, the desk clerk did not acknowledge my Hilton membership. The room had no real drawers, only three wire pull-outs in the console on which the TV sat and in which the Microwave and mini fridge resided. Nothing smaller than a wallet could be kept in those baskets.||There was a very good number of USB ports for charging phones, laptops and other electronics. Internet speed was quite slow, at about 5 Mbps down and 4.5 up. I measured it several times while we were there. In addition, a note in the bathroom stated rooms would be cleaned only every other day, which meant ours was done only one time, Thanksgiving day.||On the other hand, the shower, a walk-in, was quite good and the whole bathroom was well lit. The toilet, though, was low. Sink water pressure could have been better. There was way too much light in the room itself after we went to bed. In fact, the "blind" over the window was very thin and allowed light from the parking lot into the room all night long. At least the room was quiet, there being very little noise from the highway after about 10:00 p.m.||Finally, breakfast: At last! Perhaps someone has been reading my reviews or maybe this Hampton Inn didn't get the message: There was a choice of brown hot water they called coffee and their robust brew which isn't too bad. The robust was popular in the morning, as it frequently went empty. Breakfast consisted of whatever frozen omelet was available to be heated and that frequently was burned at the edges, some sort of meat, the usual waffle-maker, juices, some unusual pastries and only two flavors of yogurt, the same two each of the 4 mornings we were there. To my wife's displeasure there was none of their usual oatmeal, grits taking its place...
Read moreMy family and I drove 10 hours down to Myrtle Beach from Delaware and we arrived in Myrtle Beach around midnight. Unfortunately when we arrived, the hotel we booked in Myrtle Beach was dirty and unsafe to stay at. My fiancĂ© and I spent 4 hours calling 30 different hotels in the area to see if they had a room for us that night so we didnât have to sleep in our car and every hotel gave us the same answer- âwe are all bookedâ. We called this hotel and spoke to a very nice man named Shane, who said that they were unfortunately booked, but he took the time to suggest some cities outside of the coast where we may be able to find a room right away. I started calling hotels in Conway, just to hear the same answer- they were booked solid. Not even 10 minutes later, Shane called me back and said that after doing a more thorough search, they actually DID have a room available right away for my family and I to stay!!! He did not have to call me back, but he did out of the kindness of his heart. He truly turned a horrible night into a blessing!!!! We immediately drove to this hotel and were pleasantly greeted by Shane, who quickly checked us in and gave us a quick rundown of the hotel and itâs amenities. This man didnât have to call us back, but he did. He truly cares about the customers and deserves a raise!!! Our room was clean and everything we could have asked for! Located right in the heart of peaceful Pawleys Island, SC. Beautiful property and very kind staff. Thank you Shane, for helping my family and I out in a time of dire need, when literally every other hotel in the area wasnât able to. You went above and beyond and we appreciate...
