When doing an extended stay and trying Home 2 Suites for the very first time, I was overall impressed for the value vs cost.||The pros:||-Rooms are like little studio apartments (this location; some locations have one-bedroom suites). There is a fold-out sofa and ottoman. Some locations offer only queen beds, some offer only kings, some offer both (this location I believe offers both bed-types and then of course there are also double suites with two beds.)|-Good breakfast!|-they are cat and dog friendly but there is a fee (likely for cleaning)|-they DO clean the carpets in between stays. I saw the maintenance man with a carpet machine a few times (this is more than I can say for a Hampton I stayed at previously)|-semi-full kitchen. There are utensils, plates, cookware, and they have a fridge bigger than a mini size fridge, but not a full-size fridge. There is a dishwasher and a full size microwave. It is not a full kitchen however as there is no cooktop but I believe I have heard some say you can borrow an induction cooktop from guest services.|-This particular location has LG 42" hdtv's with DirecTV. You can swivel the tv to aim toward the bed or the living area.|-ironing board and closet space to hang shirts|-hanging divider for privacy though this appears so thin you can see through it|-desk area for working and roll-away table which could be used for various tasks||Cons:||-This location could use some etiquette training for their housekeepers. Many times they seemed to be in their own little world, walking around with headphones and glued to their smart phones in between cleaning rooms. I don't expect them to be my friends, but I found this kind of rude. When a guest is near and stopping on various floors they could at least say hello. To a housekeeper reading this; politeness goes a long way as does cleaning ethic especially if you would like to receive tips. This leads me to my next area to suggest improvement -cleanliness.||The property as a whole seems to be decently cared for. The guest registration area outdoors where cars pull up could use a good pressure washing, but the breakfast area/lobby, fitness center/laundry area was kept pretty clean as was the pool and patio area. The rooms could use a little more TLC. Mainly, I found dust in several areas such as on the plate rack, ontop of the microwave and table lamps both next to the bed and sofa. I mentioned this to the manager Kevin (who was a friendly guy) and he communicated it but the maid but she somehow missed it on her initial visit to my room. In fairness she came back and wiped 1/4 of the plate rack and left and at that point I just did it myself with the kitchen sponge and some soapy water. If Hilton prides itself on cleanliness then there is no reason things like this should be missed. Because if dust is missed how can we be sure what else was?||The shade to cover the window, though effective at blocking out the Arizona sun, is frankly not a good idea in my opinion. In the room I was in (613) it saw better days and this was one of the first things I noticed when I checked in is that it was crinkled from coming out of the tracks, what looked like multiple times. There were even some parts of it that appeared to even have holes. Not a deal breaker per-see but an eye-sore nonetheless in an otherwise good looking room.||Jonathan and Kevin, as well as the maintenance crew were friendly as were the breakfast attendants. ||Conclusion: All in all, a decent stay. Have had better but have also had worse. If they can work on improving the few things mentioned above they would be an...
Read morePRO: Newer. Cleaner due it being newer. Warm / hot water was fast to reach optimal temps. Kitchen area and small fridge was nice, and fridge did not make a God awful noise those dorm room fridges make. Pull-out bed so you can rest in front of TV. Noise was low, no bothersome neighbors for the most part, just a few bumps and bangs. Parking was good, parked in disabled parking spaces each night. Breakfast looked nice enough, but not a full breakfast bar.
CON:
This was listed as a 4 star, when in fact it's a 2.5 star hotel at best. The pool looked like it was an after thought, and not private at all, and near the front door. When I arrived, there was a "were away sign" and I had to wait over 16 min. for someone to arrive, when she did, she was not very friendly. Sha asked if I wanted one or two door key cards and I said one, and she gave me two anyhow. The door to the room (306) does not close all the way when you exit, glad I went back and pulled HARD to close the door, had I not, my room would have been unsecure all day until I returned. Trying to use the deadbolt while occupying the room was troublesome, I had to push and pull to get the door to align just right for the deadbolt to engage. Two of the glasses for drinks were sticky and dirty, I cleaned one myself, left the other. When I came back to the room on the third day, (after house keeping was there), the glass was still dirty, and placed back on the shelf. sigh Normal speed internet, and high speed internet, really? When I looked up this hotel, it said high speed internet, did not read where it says you have to pay for High Speed as an extra. The TV is only 1080p image class, not 4K, and it's bolted to the countertop. Could not move it closer to me to view from the bed while watching a TV show. Air conditioning was above normal A/C operational levels, I get it, they make noise, but why place the bed right next to the A/C, either freeze or sweat. I.e. when the A/C was on (compressor in use) cold air rolled up, and fell on the bed. When the A/C (compressor) was off, you had to kick the sheets off. Bed was above the normal firm level, I get it, hotel beds are always uncomfortable, however, this one seemed firmer than normal. Housekeeping came and took out trash, took towels and DID NOT LEAVE REPLACEMENT TOWELS in the room. SO, I had to go down to the front desk and ask they be placed in the room that next day. Tipping house keeping? Really, now we have the guilt of tipping house keeping via QR code? How about we just leave a few bucks on the night stand? Only three drawers, the extra table is not needed, better served as a set of...
Read moreHotel was nice enough. Room was fine - it was clean, which is the bare minimum they should be doing. Nothing special other than keyless entry to the room and the building after hours.
Our last night here, a group taking up multiple rooms surrounding ours showed up around 10:20 pm and they were very loud and inconsiderate. There were kids ages ranging from 7-15 running down the halls, riding scooters, slamming doors as they went from room to room, and adults were present, but obviously didn’t care one bit. Of course, no one was wearing masks. You wouldn’t expect people that are this inconsiderate to do so, so that’s no surprise.
My wife decided not to call the front desk until around 10:50 pm when they were still going strong. It was literally a party in the hallway. Chris at the front desk said he would come check it out. 20 minutes later and they were just as rowdy, and it was now well past 11. I called again and the same guy said the same thing to me, but it went on for at least 15 more minutes, at this point it was past 11:30 pm.
We were trying to put our 3 year old to sleep and the noise level was out of control. The front desk did nothing about it. They eventually just turned themselves out since the “adults” chaperoning the group probably decided they needed to sleep so they made the kids go inside.
Pretty lame experience. I won’t give 1 or 2 stars because it’s not totally the hotel’s fault, but they obviously did NOTHING about our issue. I guess Hilton should pay their staff enough that they feel like it is within their job description to deal with highly disrespectful guests.
We have family that lives less than 5 minutes away here in Gilbert, and thankfully there’s other hotel choices in the same area and we won’t have to...
