This was the cake my daughter was looking forward to the most. We spent days carefully choosing this shop from among many options. Because I was nervous about ordering online, I went to the store in person to place the order. Since the staff member helping me was new, they kindly connected me to the manager by phone, and together we carefully discussed all the details — the color of the artificial flowers, the cream color, and more.
But when I went to pick up the cake the day before the party, I was shocked. There were no flowers, no cream decorations — just a plain cylindrical cake.
I was told they could fix it by the next morning, so I went back again. This time, there were only two artificial flowers added. They said they couldn’t add the cream decorations after all. At that point, I had no choice but to give up.
My daughter had been so excited about a fun, impactful cake, and I was heartbroken that I couldn’t give her that experience.
Cakes like this are a part of truly special, once-in-a-lifetime events. I hope this shop will take more responsibility for the importance of what they are providing. Most of all, I wish they had contacted me in advance when they realized they couldn’t fulfill the order as requested. If they had done that, we might have been able to find another solution in time.
That said, I am grateful to the staff member who sincerely apologized and did their best to make up for the situation. They were kind and professional, and I appreciate that effort.
If you’re ordering a custom cake here, please make sure to double- and triple-check every detail beforehand.
This is the pink cake that was posted on Instagram. And the blue one is what I actually received. They look completely different, don’t they? I chose this shop because the cakes on their Instagram looked beautiful, so I’m really disappointed.
UPDATE I honestly didn’t expect to receive a refund, so I was really surprised. Thank you for your prompt response and for resolving the issue — I truly appreciate it. In the future, it might be helpful if the shop provides a design sheet where customers can draw or specify their cake ideas...
Read moreI’ve been to this bakery multiple times and have even recommended it to friends. While I’ve never received amazing service in the past, it was never bad—just average. Unfortunately, today’s experience was absolutely horrible and incredibly awkward.
A few days ago, I inquired about their cakes to find out if they typically have any in stock or if I needed to place a pre-order. I was told they usually have the 4-inch cakes available. This morning, I called to ask which ones they currently had and which was the most popular. I was told the confetti cake was the top choice.
When I arrived, a dark-haired employee was helping another customer, so I waited patiently. Once it was my turn, another woman had come in and was waiting behind me. I asked the employee what was inside the confetti cake—she wasn’t sure. I then asked about the one with raspberries on top—again, she didn’t know. She directed me to the cake book and then, surprisingly, asked if she could help the woman behind me instead.
I had only asked two simple questions, yet she seemed eager to move on to the next customer, despite the fact that we were the only people in the bakery. I agreed, assuming the woman behind me was there for a different pastry or drink. Instead, she said she’d take the confetti cake—the exact one I was inquiring about. I had just wanted to confirm there weren’t any ingredients in it that my son couldn’t have.
At that point, I let both the employee and the woman know that I had been there first and was in the middle of asking about that cake. The employee seemed visibly bothered and, for some strange reason, acted as if she preferred the woman behind me to have the cake instead of me. It felt incredibly unprofessional and unfair.
All customers should be treated equally, especially when someone has waited their turn and shown patience. This employee clearly lacks basic customer service and people skills. With so many bakeries in the Valley, I have no reason to return to one that treats customers differently based on an employee’s...
Read moreIn our quest to find new pastry and coffee spots, we stumbled upon Too Sweet Cakes (located next the Novel Val Vista Apartment Complex’s leasing office). We ordered a turkey & cheddar croissant, a sausage & cheddar croissant, donut holes, and a tiramisu donut. The food? Pretty good. Small, but satisfying. Does it stand out? Eh, not really—but it did the job.
Now, the tiramisu donut was a journey. First bite? Confusing. A little banana-y (why?). But the more we ate, the more we vibed with it. By the end, we were fans. Unexpected character development.
We also got two small hot breve lattes. And by “small,” we mean tiny—think Starbucks “short” size. Cute, but gone in about three sips.
Service was… an adventure. They forgot our coffee order, apologized, and then—plot twist—realized they didn’t even have the ingredients for a breve latte. So, we settled for a regular one. At that point, we just rolled with it.
Price-wise, we spent about $35 for everything—not terrible, but I’ve had better turkey & cheddar croissant sandwiches for under $10. So, there’s that.
Overall? If I could give it a 2.5, I would. But since that’s not an option, we’ll round up to 3 stars. Not...
