I can't express quite how horrible of an experience I've had with this hotel & its employees. As a general rule, I don't leave 1 star Google reviews. People hear enough of the negative and so I try to just review those that are exceptional service. I was supposed to check in on a Wednesday. I checked in on the app and arrived to the property around 9pm only to be told I couldn't use the water. For ANYTHING. No teeth brushing, showering, drinking, anything. The gal at the front desk didn't give much info and had basically no knowledge of what was even happening. She said she called SOME people that were supposed to check in but since I had done it on the app, she didn't know I was coming. I asked her REPEATEDLY if she could refund me if I switched properties. She said YES YES and YES. Her name was Paulina and I actually had an "okay" experience with her even though she was super young and seemed very unexperienced.
Naturally, they charged me for the whole stay (and keep in mind I switched to another Hilton property so I was paying for that too.) I called this morning and spoke with Raven - she said she'd have her supervisor fix it. I get a receipt and they only refunded 1 night of my 2 night stay. I called back (not sure if it was Raven again or someone else) and she said they wouldn't refund the first night because of when I cancelled. I said ummm there was no usable water at your property and Paulina assured me that I could get a refund. She said with no remorse that she was sorry & Paulina was misinformed and she no longer even works there -- this is not even ONE WEEK away from this incidence. I realize the entire city of Grand Prairie was having this water contamination issue but this was such an extenuating circumstance that I cannot BELIEVE the hotel wouldn't be more accommodating.
I ended up calling Hilton directly, they couldn't even get the hotel to refund the money so they are refunding it themselves. She was BAFFLED at how the employees at the Spark were acting.
I would NEVER suggest staying here. Unhelpful people and the property looked like an old Super8 that they tried to remodel. Based on the reviews, the rooms are pretty...
Read moreOur baseball team stayed at Grand Prairie-Spark/Hilton during our World Series games, June 20th-27th, 2024. We stay in hotels most weekends during baseball season and this hotel is the WORST hotel we have ever stayed in. Several rooms were sealed off with black plastic indicating the presence of bed bugs (see video). The pool was out of service until a parent from our team called the county to get an inspector to come out and approve opening the pool. The AC in the hallways on all four floors were not working and it was miserably hot our entire stay. At first, one elevator was out of service, then they both went down and we were forced to use the stairway. Our room did not have hot water for showering, the maintenance man did try to repair it but it never even got warm. Our toilet became clogged and was overflowing, I requested a plunger from the front desk and was told she did not have access to the room where the plungers were kept, I had to go purchase one and I had to plunge the toilet after every use. The washer & dryer were both out of service. We had to beg for clean towels and toilet paper since housekeeping only cleaned our room once during our week long stay. The pool was never stocked with towels to dry off before entering the hotel, my son slipped and fell multiple times due to standing water at the entrance. The staff was incredibly hateful, rude, and did not care to correct the issues that were brought to their attention. We spoke to the General Manager about all the issues we were having and he was definitely not interested in trying to make it right for us. We made several calls to corporate and they did nothing but left us feeling even more frustrated and ensured our decision to never stay at a Hilton owned hotel again. If I could give them zero stars, I would!
Also, the location is in a very rough area, we had law enforcement pull into the parking lot and advised us not to be in the parking...
Read moreMy experience at this hotel was surprisingly pleasant. I had never heard about "Spark" before booking.
Location: In the heart of everything. It was the literal midpoint to both downtowns (Fort Worth and Dallas). Parking was easy (and free) and you could tell that this was a newer building.
Decor: There's a modern/eclectic vibe that I really dig about this hotel that TRU and the other Hilton brand hotels don't have. When glancing inside the eating quarters, I was delighted to see that they attempted to make the seating quirky and unique. I originally planned to have brunch somewhere the following morning, but changed my plans when I saw how nice their eating area was.
Service: I had just finished the last leg of our roadtrip and all I could think about was a shower and a cold bed. Translation: I was not in a talkative mood -_- . When we entered the hotel, we approached the front desk. The young woman behind the counter (I believe her name was "Chelle" SP?) initially greeted my daughter first. I freaking LOVED that. Typically children are ignored and so by that one gesture, my mood even changed.
She got us squared away and even mentioned that I could use the app for any additional information I may need about the local area. Before we departed for our room, she asked me if she could give my daughter a warm chocolate chip cookie. We accepted. My daughter and I loved it (mom tax ;) on the way up to our room. You can tell this lady does NOT hate her job. 10 Stars!!!
Room: There's just something about a shower with good water pressure followed by a cold pillow. There was a crisp and homey feel that put us both at ease. We stowed everything away in our mini fridge and hit the town.
I will definitely be staying...
