We picked Hampton Inn and Suites for our stay while our house was being renovated, this was an insurance claim and we were here for several weeks. We were overall very happy with our stay. Location was key being close to downtown and the highway. The beds were great! Mine was a little on the softer side which is my preference! The kids rooms had a little bit firmer beds which they liked. We absolutely loved the pool/hot tub it was so nice and clean and the kids swam everyday! The breakfast was great and we always found something to love with plenty of options , when it’s very busy on the weekends things do run out when it gets close to closing time. I also love the suites it was plenty of room for our 3 kiddos! I would definitely recommend and stay here again. I was not a fan of the 18$ parking per night, I feel like it should come with your stay.
My biggest con with this hotel is the room service. Everyone was nice but I was not told when we checked in that you had to “request” room service to be done to your room. After 3 days and all our trashes overflowing I finally asked the front desk and they apologized and said they would put us in for “full service” They came the next day took our trash, replaced towels and left. We had joining rooms with our kids . I said ok fine maybe they were in a hurry a few days later same thing, I requested service, and thought, it’s been a week now this time they will for sure take care of the beds and do all the normal hotel things. Again they came replaced towels, took the trash and left. They did no cleaning again and did not touch one of the three beds in our rooms. I went down to the front desk a to ask if this was normal and the worker had no idea. So once again I put in for full service and she had to put in a special request just to have our bedding changed, since we had been here over a week at this point with no bedding change. I don’t think it should have ever came to this, they know what guests have longer stays and I should not have to ask to have my sheets changed after a week and a half stay or even the beds made if you are doing what they call “full service” I understand hotels trying to save on water and not changing the sheets all the time but again we had been there for over a week at this point. I felt like if I didn’t ask for every specific thing to be done to our room they wouldn’t do it. They even have what must be an old sign in their bathroom saying every other day they make the bed, replenish amenities & towels, and empty the trash. Totally not the case. All the times they came to my room it was only by request and they also never restocked the coffee cups and we would have to go down to the lobby to get our own.
I gave 5 stars because I know super long stays aren’t the norm for hotels and if we were here for a few nights I probably wouldn’t have encountered any of these long stay issues. Overall I highly recommend the hotel, I just wish the rooms were given more attention by the staff. I gave it some time before I even wrote a review thinking maybe I just got a staff who was having a hard day and they would do better next time but it never happened. It’s extremely hard living in a hotel when it’s your only choice and I believe all this room service requesting was something I was not prepared for nor wanted to deal with when staying at a hotel. People pay a decent amount of money to stay here and simple rooms cleanliness shouldn’t be so...
Read moreI stayed here for my wedding night, as well as the night before. The first night was great, and we (myself and 3 of my bridesmaids) had a wonderful time. My wedding day and night service however was absolutely horrible. We changed rooms from a double queen to a King suite the morning of the wedding, and were never offered assistance. My welcome boxes, which were worth approximately $50 each, and had the weekend itinerary in them for all of our guests were NEVER DELIVERED, all this after staff promised they would be dropped off in each room. Once we returned from our wedding reception later that night, our plan was to have several guests out on the patio area. We were assured during several interactions by Kendra- the hotel's event coordinator, that this would be more than okay, and that we were allowed to have food, drinks (including alcohol), and music out on the patio. While waiting for other guests of ours, 5 of us were sitting on the patio talking, when we were approached by a male staff member from the front desk who started yelling at us like we were children, telling us that we needed to be quiet. When I assured him that we were told by the event staff that we could be out there and that the noise would not be an issue, his reply was, "Well, I'm here right now, and I'm telling you that if I can hear you inside, you are being too loud". We contacted most of our other guests and cancelled our plans to continue celebrating. A few others went back to our rooms and that's when I figured out that our welcome boxes were not delivered. When I approached the front desk to question this, the same male staff member was in his office with the lights off, sleeping. He presented the gifts back to me after being asked- and never provided an explanation or even so much as an apology for them never being delivered. I cannot tell you the frustration and anger I felt dealing with that individual. He was extremely unprofessional, arrogant, and terribly rude. I wouldn't rely on this staff to help with anything extra during your stay. The hotel is in a great location, is clean, and decorated nicely- which are some of the reasons we chose this hotel over any others in town. Had we known we would have such a poor experience, we would most definitely had gone elsewhere for the biggest day...
Read moreThis was my second time staying there and I'd definitely do it again. It isn't right downtown, but it's not too far... About a twenty minute walk through either the medical mile or the 'Heritage Hill' neighborhood, a historic district with tons of beautiful old houses. The rooms are comfortable and perfectly tailored for business travelers. Everything is very efficient. The main nightstand had a pull out shelf, rather than drawers... Perfect for placing all your devices and chargers. The drawers in the bathroom don't have faces, making them like pull out cubbies. It makes it easy to unpack without feeling like you might leave things behind. I like how few enclosed storage space there are. The showers are spacious, with gorgeous frameless sliding glass doors. The shower head is placed high, which was very comfortable for me at 6'1". Most hotel showers are very uncomfortable and I'm in love with the showers here. The shower head also has like modes that all function well, including a massager mode. If you are shorter than 5'4" or so, you may have difficulty adjusting the shower head, some they are placed so high. Service is always fast and friendly. No long speeches, just very friendly and very to the point. Breakfast is wonderful. Last time they had biscuits and gravy, this time they had little mini omlettes. Both were fantastic. They also have a make your own waffle bar, a coffee bar, fresh fruit, cereal, and more. It was hopping at 9:30. Definitely worth your while to make it downstairs before 10. The hot tub was nice, but a little small considering the number of guests. The pool was a nice size, but it was comically shallow. I got in at the 4' end and thought that must be the shallow end and it would get deeper.... Nope! It shallows to 3' on the other end. I'm sure it looked great in the initial renderings and looks good in pictures, but it's not great from a functional perspective. The shallow end is also cluttered up with steps that make the pool effectively shorter in length. Why not put them on a side? It did have some nice seats built into the sides, if you want to just relax in water but not...
