If I could give 0 star, I would... This experience was absolutely HORRIBLE and I am very upset. I had a wedding block of guests and also a Presidential suite booked for my bride the night before and as our wedding night suite. I had family check in on 9/2 (Wed) and that is where it all began. We found the hotel full of Hurricane evacuees from LA. I understand and can commend the hotel for putting up rooms to support evacuees, but I also felt like I was not important, nor were my guests. The entire hotel had adults and kids running around without masks. There was cursing and foul language used all around the common areas, including the pool, lobby, and front doors. There were groups non-stop smoking out in the pool area and on benches right at the front door. I literally saw this from 6am-10pm every day I was there. I don't mind that the hotel housed the evacuees, but some notice of this would have been nice. Then it came to service for basic amenities - TOWELS and TOILET paper. There were constant requests being made for towels from my family members, and the front desk kept saying, we do not have any available and it will take 3-4 hours. When asked for extra toilet paper, it took 2.5hrs to have it sent to the room. ??? THAT"S HORRIBLE!!! My brother, his wife, and two kids could not shower/bath because of the towel situation. They asked for towels at 8am, and by 3pm, still hearing excuses, they heard enough and checked out. THIS BROKE MY HEART. My entire family flew in from across the country for a few short days to be together for my wedding festivities, and they ended up not even staying in the same hotel, because the service was that bad and the atmosphere was deplorable. I asked to speak to my sales coordinator, Erin McCarthy, who spoke to me and told me that they would make our party a priority moving forward for those requests. This my be just my opinion, but paying guests should already have been a priority, and extra towels/toilet paper (SIMPLE THINGS) should have been set aside to provide to those paying guests. I was told that the evacuees ruined many towels that they had to be thrown away. I'm sorry to hear that, but as a PAYING guest, that's not my problem and I shouldn't be affected when requesting new/clean towels. As mentioned earlier, I went to my car two mornings in a row around 7am, and there were a group of evacuees sitting on a bench right by the front entrance smoking cigars. I walked past two cars in the parking lot to find two guys smoking weed in their car. Disgusting atmosphere - and really not one to lighten the mood preparing for my wedding. Last issue - I requested and CONFIRMED with Erin McCarthy for a small in-room amenity to be sent to my Presidential suite the night of my wedding. I told her I would arrive with my new bride around 1030pm and she confirmed she would have something in the SUITE that we had rented for two nights. We arrive just after being married, and I told her the hotel was doing something nice for us. We arrive and NOTHING there. No card, no flowers, no sweets, no drinks, NOTHING. VERY DISAPPOINTED I don't even have the words to describe how this experience was just so bad. I felt myself and my guests (again, all who were paying guests) were treated worse than the evacuee guests. This was supposed to be a special night with a nice amenity, and nothing there. My father-in-law is a diamond member with Marriott and he is beyond upset with the service and situation...
Read moreWe ended up here as the Grand Hyatt & Hyatt Regency DFW hotels were charging outrageous prices. We booked directly on the Marriott website and stayed at the Courtyard even though it was priced a little higher per night than its in-house neighbor, Town Place Suites.
LOCATION: The hotel is about four miles away from DFW which amounted to a $15 Uber ride each way, or a free hotel shuttle is available which we found out about the next day. There weren't any restaurants or shopping within walking distance but a ton of options are just a short ride away, including a huge outlet mall.
ATMOSPHERE: It's two Marriott hotels in one, a Courtyard and Towne Place Suites. Numerous drivers were confused as to where the actual entrance was for the properties, including our Uber driver due to a lack of signage, but they actually share a single door located in the middle of the L-shaped building. The lobby is similar to newer Courtyard hotels with the casual The Bistro eatery as your only food & beverage option. The restaurant seating seamlessly blends in with the internet café and lobby. A small pool resides out back. The property is surrounded by woods so there's no view except for a bunch of trees and is very quiet except for the occasional purr of jet engines.
REGISTRATION: We were assisted by a friendly gal who found us an ever better nightly rate than what we booked into. Check out was quick and efficient.
ROOM: Absolutely no problems to report, only positives. Strong a/c, comfy bed, big TV, lots of power outlets. Above and beyond amenities were a microwave and mini refrigerator with "freezer" of which we made great use of. The free Wi-Fi was strong or you can pay for faster speeds.
BATHROOM: The only negative was the single basin. Other than that, everything else rocked. The shower had good water pressure with quick drain, and the Paul Mitchell bath amenities were subtly scented. Towels were plentiful and clean.
RESTAURANT: Like I mentioned earlier, The Bistro is your only option. We instead ordered from an outside restaurant via Grubhub.
TIP: The entrance that you come upon as you drive in is actually the group entrance which accesses the meeting rooms. Our driver dropped us off there in error so we had quite a walk to the lobby. Pushing rolling luggage over carpet is a chore!
OVERALL: Great prices and close to DFW. Definitely a...
Read moreMy son and I checked in and were exhausted. We went to the parking garage where the gate arm was up and received no ticket. Fifteen dollars for parking had already been paid upon reserving our room.
When we got to the room I saw that someone had taken two tissues and stuffed them in a clump back on top of the Kleenex box, but I decided to ignore that. When we finally got settled and pulled back the covers there was what looked like salt on our sheets. After struggling with whether or not to complain I called and told the front desk that we didn't want anyone to change the bedding because we were exhausted and just wanted to go to bed. I received two free breakfasts to make up for that. At this point I was still planning on returning to your hotel for other trips because I had joined your membership program. Then my son saw a black hair on the sheets as well. I don't believe the attendant changed the sheets before we arrived.
In the morning when I went to take a shower there was another black hair on the shower floor and the soap dish inside the shower was not clean even though there was a bar of wrapped soap there.
After checking out we went to leave the parking garage where the machine asked for a ticket. We did not have one. People pulled up behind me so I could not back up so I pushed LOST TICKET just to get out of the way, and the screen showed a charge of $60.00. That's $75 for parking for one night! We were in a hurry but went back inside to get the refund, but the girl working said she couldn't do anything, that it should have been $16.00, and wrote her email address down so that I could send her a copy of the credit card bill when I received it. I explained we had paid for parking when the rooms were reserved and would like the $60.00, but she said she could do nothing without my credit card bill for proof.
The pool was not clean either. The only thing good about our stay there was the waitress at the grill who bothered to talk to us early that morning.
Too much trouble. We will never stay there again. By the way, the Courtyard Marriott DFW/Grapevine, where we stayed the two previous...
