Before I retired, I stayed at Holiday Inn and Holiday Inn Express hotels throughout the US and always had excellent experiences. However, this stay was extremely disappointing. ||My brother-in-law made the reservations for our football game outing. When I checked in, I gave them my Priority Card to change it to my account. However, when I got the invoice after checking out, I find that it was still listed in my BIL's name and card number, even though the charge was on my credit card. I called the hotel and explained the situation and am waiting to hear from the Manager to see how this will be resolved.||The second day, the lone elevator call button on our floor broke down and was inoperable. We had to walk down to the main floor, then take the elevator up to our floor following breakfast and also to be able to load our bags and ride down to the first floor when we checked out.||The room itself was large and accommodating even though the floor could have been vacuumed better. The remote for the TV did not work and we had to get two more remotes to find one that worked (one didn't work at all, one turned the tv on, but that's all, and one finally worked). In addition, the TV service did not include ESPNU, which is extremely unusual for a hotel that caters to OSU college football fans. An important Big 12 game was carried on ESPNU that night, but we had to go to a bar to watch it - very disappointing.||The shower had a special faucet that you had to pull down on to make it work, but no instructions as to how to do that. In addition, the faucet leaked whenever you turned it on. The shower head and water pressure were very good. In addition, there was no strainer on the lavatory drain and we almost lost a toothpaste cap down the drain. Someone could easily drop a ring down there. I reported this, but it never was changed.||There were 2 paper coffee cups, but no other glasses/cups in the room (i.e. nothing in the bathroom). There was also one regular Keurig coffee pod and one decaf pod, even though there were two people staying in the room.||It appears they may be remodeling, but there was no escutcheon around the sprinkler head in the ceiling and the wall paint/ceiling paint joints were not neat. The furniture was somewhat mismatched, and the window drapes were missing.||In the dining area, the pancake machine was inoperable, but the scrambled eggs were well done and the bacon was truly crisp! In addition, the typical Holiday Inn sweet rolls were still very good. However, I did hear one child tell her parents she didn't want to come back because they had no pancakes.||The one bright spot in our stay were the staff. They were always friendly and ready to help whenever they could. They provided the multiple tv remotes, clean towels and additional coffee pods and cups and were truly apologetic about...
Read moreHoliday Inn Express & Suites Guthrie, an IHG Hotel If you plan on staying here my advice would be DONâT, But if you do make sure you check the room BEFORE you bring in your luggage. We meaning our daughter & S-I-L, my wife and myself, stayed there the night of 26 Jan 2023 room 415. What a mistake! We were returning from a trip to Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio Texas. When we checked in a lady, with towel in hand, came to the desk and asked for directions to the pool, which she was given. In a minute or so she was back and stated there wasnât any water in the pool, the front desk person told her that no one had told her. We went up to our room, and the room was cold which is normal, so I turned on the heat. After waiting a while no heat, called the front desk, no answer. So I go back down and explain, clerk says she will be up to correct the problem. I go back up to the room, so in the meantime the clerk calls the room, stating no repair available, would we like another room. Yes but the only other other room, had one single king size bed, that will NOT work, so we were asked if we wanted more blankets, well yes! Then we were told they would bring them up, so we waited, waited, waited. I go back down, reply from clerk, O I forgot. On my several trips on the elevator I talked to other people, one lady with three kids, one being a small baby, tells me when they went in their room, there wasnât any bedding and the room had construction debris on the floor(ours had some debris on the bed, but not much). Another man tells me he is trying to find a working ice machine going from floor to floor. I had propped our door open to get some heat in the room. So I went to take a shower, soap and shampoo sputter, empty. Coating on the wall is peeling off, area under sink not finished, empty soda pop can in dresser, broken louvers on heating unit, fins filthy, only one trash can in the hole place. When I tell them them at the check in desk, reply was, O sorry about that, this was the same reply when we were checking out in the morning. The only saving grace for the whole place was the lady taking care of the breakfast area. This place rates a half star at best. I could go on but you should...
Read moreDrive to Edmond down the road and stay at that Holiday Inn and you will save yourself some grief instead of staying here. I have never experienced such dissatisfaction in a hotel. We arrived at 10:30 pm and were welcomed by the overwhelming smell of pot. It was so strong on the first floor but luckily not on the 2nd floor; however, our room had the stench of urine on top of it not being clean. We moved to another room (303) which luckily did not smell bad but was unfortunately was just as unclean. Also, the tile in the bathroom was cracked and sticking up in places making it a hazard. This was on top of a greasy floor.
While waiting to check out the next morning, the guests in front of us where sharing how the tile was broken and dangerous in their room. They were on the 3rd floor too. There just be some shifting going on with the building.
As I am waiting in line, listening to the front desk clerk telling them he will make note and try to get them a discount, I noticed how filthy the floors where. I am not talking about a little dirt, it is corners with build-up for weeks. There were also 2 roaches, one half dead, the other dead right in front of the desk.
Fast forward to our turn checking out. We share about the broken tile and were told that they will try to get a small refund (never saw that come through BTW). We also shared about the roaches as I would think he might want to clean them up before other guests saw them. Instead of saying thank you or seeming to be alarmed they were there, he just said âI donât ever go on that side of the counter.â
This weekend weâre weâre back in town but stayed at the Holiday Inn in Edmond. What a pleasant experience! It is evident the management in Edmond has different priorities than Guthrie. We will give them our business in the future despite having to drive a bit further. I suggest you do the same or you will be sorely dissatisfied...
