I've been eating here since it opened long ago. It's pretty obvious ownership has changed. Portions are skimpy now, things that used to be a simple request such as double queso seems to be asking too much of them. The last two times I've ordered out and gone in, and in both cases my experience was terrible. I was ignored by my waiter and left dying of thirst dining in and ordering out we asked for double cheese for our chips and dip. We were given one 8oz cup instead of our usual two. When we went inside to make about it the manager made us wouldn't get off their cell phone. Then said "we gave you an 8oz cup!" When we asked to pay for another cup they said "do you have cash because we're not running a card just for that." Then while processing our payment the "manager" was slamming things around all while still on their phones. Once we got into our food we were unable to eat a lot of it because the refried beans tasted like straight fish which is either cross contamination or a bacterial issue from old beans (I was a restaurant manager for almost 20 years). The cheese tasted equally off, and I want you all to be aware that we spend at a minimum $100 or more a month there. We have for years. I work in a local hotel and I've always recommended it to my guest. I guess Senor Lopez is the move now, and whoever bought that place or runs it now is gonna lose a lot of money because the people in my town might settle for crap food but they sure as heck don't put up with crap service. If y'all need a manager to actually take care of people let me know. I'll point you to a few. Because as is, you will never get my business or...
Read moreWhen my parents wanted to take me to a Mexican food restraunt in Oklahoma, I had serious doubts about the kind of quality we would get. I can say I was pleasantly surprised with El Rodeo. Here is my PSA before I continue: DO NOT EXPECT TEX MEX OR MID WESTERN STYLE MEXICAN FOOD, THIS PLACE SERVES AUTHENTIC MEXICAN FOOD.
My family ordered Aguchiles (I can't find them in Texas, so this was a bonus!), Carne Asada, a Chicken Quesadilla, a corn dog from the kids menu and Flan to round off the meal. Everything was cooked perfectly (the Carne asada was a little thicker than I am used to but was so delicious). When ordering the Aguachiles, the server even warned me that the dish was spicy (I've definitely had spicier, but it still hit the spot). I've never had queso dip before this trip and was hesitant to try it, but the server recommended adding some of their table salsa or chile to it. This was life changing. I definitely recommend doing this.
Literally, the only "bad" thing I can say about this restraunt is that the tortillas weren't homemade, but I can overlook that since everything else was fantastic.
I will definitely be bringing my family back to eat here whenever we visit my parents...
Read moreI hate giving this one star but honestly it's the only right thing to do. Why? The menu stated that the Chimichanga meal came with 2 burritos, fact is that it was one burrito cut in half. The burrito was asada with cheese. Then they charge $4. If you only buy one meal for the chips and salsa. We were not informed of this charge otherwise I would have purchased another meal. The salsa that they bring with the chips is not spicy. So if you order spicy salsa they charge. Dissatisfied and disappointed. 4 We asked for more salsa as the size they serve is like 5 or 6 spoonfuls. The waiter was nice but forgot to bring more sauce. Overall it was decent but highly unlikely that I could or would recommend to anyone. We DIDN'T order the lunch. It was small although we had plenty of rice. I realize things are tight. I understand.
However, to stay afloat I think you need to raise your prices, give more food, don't charge for the (chips and salsa) setup. I love Mexican food, I was highly disappointed in my food today. Place was clean. Water was good. Food was average tasting and pricey. Hope this...
