I have very mixed feelings about The Warehouse. I really enjoyed how spacious, and clean the room was and how friendly the staff were. But I had a few problems with the hotel overall.
#1: This is not a hotel that is properly prepared for someone that is disabled. It is not walker or wheelchair safe. The closest ramp to the door is about 20 to 25 feet away. #2: They do not have a parking lot ready for guests. The parking lot they are using is connected to the Spooky Nook facility across the street. The first parking space is a good 400 feet from the front door. #3: My bathroom door (room 254) was too big to close properly on the frame. It would close tight but would need to a good strong shoulder to open. #4: The complimentary upgrade was nice, but the view of the Great Miami River was not very good. (I'll refer you to take a look at the photos). #5: For such a nice hotel there was no microwave or coffee maker in the room. (All the hotels I stayed at on my road trip had three things in common: a fridge, a microwave, and a coffee maker in room). #6: Complimentary breakfast were packaged Danish, and muffins. They also had a basket of oranges (not sure if anyone actually ate any) and two Keurig coffee makers in the lobby. #7: No way for a disabled person to get down to the lobby from the second floor during an emergency. We were preparing to leave when an electrical problem occurred in one of the elevators in another part of the building. The fire alarm started going off. Once the warnings start to sound the security doors all over the building shut into place and the elevators are not to be used. My mother who is disabled had to slowly make her was down two flights of stairs. #8: We stayed for three nights. During those three nights no one asked if we wanted our rooms cleaned or if we wanted refills on shampoo or conditioner. I know we could have asked ourselves, but it is also up to the hotel staff to take care of its guests. (I lived in a hotel for almost a month and every day they came and cleaned or asked if I wanted the room clean).
So here are some suggestions to the company still working on this "unfinished" hotel. Yes, this hotel is not completely built yet.
#1: Put a microwave in the rooms. It's the proper thing to do. It allows the people residing in the rooms to be able to warm up something to eat when they don't want to go into Hamilton or late at night. (The last hotel I stayed at on my trip was over 130 years old and it had a microwave and a coffee maker). #2: Coordinate with the restaurants in town (both east and west sides). See who is willing to deliver to people staying. I asked and was given a few random names of places that might deliver. This should be a list that could be given to people if they ask for it. Not everyone wants to drive or walk into town to get food. #3: Clean up your side of the river. My view consisted of a building that the Earth herself was trying to take back. I lived in town for more than two decades and I know that the Great Miami River has never been scenic, but at least the hotel could spruce up their side to make a difference. #4: Parking is horrible. I know that the connecting parking lot for the hotel is still being worked on, but it won't make things any better since it is on the other end of the hotel. We arrived in the evening and the security guard had to pick my mother up from her parking space to bring her back to the hotel because of the distance from the lot to the hotel entrance. #5: I really have no clue what you can do for the guests in the morning. 90% of the hotels I stay at always have something hot to eat. Maybe offer box of cereal with a small bottle of milk. I know I don't drink coffee, but a bottle of orange or apple juice would have been nice.
Get these few suggestions completed and I think you will have very satisfied guests.
I hope this help you and...
Read moreI had night hopes for this place based on the amenities and location, but it has been many years since I've been this disappointed. I would categorize this as a venue first, hotel guests second type of establishment. After a long day of driving the last thing, I was looking forward to was walking 100 yards to the area where guests were directed to park. The area was suspect, although I will give The Warehouse an edge on being the leader on restoring this area. My issues began with the entrance into the room: without a background in home renovation I would've flipped out trying to find out how to turn the lights on. A switch by the door the read MASTER was hardly insightful for the majority of guests and the switch could've been more conveniently move to the other side of the closet on the interior of the room. The floor lamp by the desk had a button interceptor to cut the power, but it wasn't operational. I unplugged the lamp each night. Walking out in the morning was not an issue, but the few hours in the afternoon when I returned to shower & change clothes for the evening seemed to crossover with the times guests for other events for arriving. During these times, younger guests were beginning to arrive and were utilizing this time to finish the alcoholic beverages they wouldn't be allowed to drink inside. I found a large quantity of these Mike's hard lemonade cans in the truck bed of my 2024 GMC Sierra 1500, as well as, all over the ground. I chose to spend 15m picking these. While several others sat in a few vehicles I can only assume was the source of an overpowering odor of marijuana. Upon my return for the evening, younger kids were running up and down the hall until well after midnight. The concept of the hotel has the potential to be refreshing and help gentrify a declining surrounding neighborhood. However, that time is years away. If I had to list my disappointments it would be 1) Distance of guest parking, 2) Lack of security presence to keep attendees from throwing trash on ground or in the back of other vehicles, 3) ill-placed switches controlling interior of room and 4) catering to the event guests instead of the hotel guests. My overall goal was to to speak to a manager about a refund, but I was glad to get up and go with the intent to speak with them soon thereafter. I've been traveling a good bit since and am now just writing down to...
Read moreThe Warehouse hotel opened about a month ago so everything is bright, shiny and new. The rooms are spacious with large windows that allow plenty of natural light.
The hotel, restored from an old warehouse, while cool, is overpriced, considering there is no food to be found and no amenities to keep us entertained like a pool or their sports complex that is opening next year I believe. We paid $195.19 a night (with taxes) for a hotel in a not great neighborhood with a little hike to the parking lot (we had to stay here due to hotel requirements of our group). I do believe that when they are done developing the area in a year or so, this could be a great place to stay, however its not there yet and way too expensive for what it is. $200/night should at least include breakfast. Their website leads you to believe that their sports complex is open so please call ahead if you are hoping to take part in that amenity.
Construction across the street starts at 8AM so if you're hoping to sleep past then, I hope you are a deep sleeper. Between that and the hotel music that starts playing around then, I found it to be a not so pleasant wake up call.
Bring your own pillow because I'm pretty sure they swapped these pillows with a prison. Super cheap and flat as a board. I'm going to have to go buy pillows to get through the rest of our stay.- EDIT NOTE- I posted this on our first day and someone brought 3 pillows to my room. I appreciate the gesture so thank you. Someone else in our group complained about the pillows are were told that there is a national pillow shortage. I did go and buy a new pillow for my remaining nights.
I also dislike that there are no dressers to put your things away, forcing us to live out of our suitcases. They do have an open closet to hang items. Other cons include lack of full length mirror in the room, no bench or foot rest in the shower for shaving and a firm bed ( I prefer soft). Pros include the spacious space, water pressure is good and the shower heats up fast.
I hope these comments are taken as constructive as they are meant to help a new hotel make their future guests stay enjoyable.
Again, I think this hotel will be cool in a few years when the area is built up, but it's not...
