My fiancé booked this place as a surprise for my birthday, and I'm glad he did. I love old homes, and I'd never stayed in one before. Getting right to it, the positives: This place is absolutely gorgeous. The architecture is stunning, and the decor lovely. I was pleasantly surprised it was as clean as it was. I didn't see any dust anywhere. You are free to walk about the grounds and much of the house itself, which thrilled us no end. There are many things to see as there are different rooms, hallways, artwork, and niches. Our room was lovely, and we had the entire balcony to ourselves as we were, as we discovered later that night, the only ones staying in the main house. There are 4 rooms in the main house, all named either Antoinette, Josephine, Pompador, or Evangeline. We stayed in the Antoinette Room, hence the Marie Antoinette picture. There's a refrigerator, microwave, and a Keurig coffee maker in the upstairs hallway that is meant to service the upstairs bedrooms. Uber is available in Hammond and several drivers live in the neighborhood, so getting a ride is no problem. A hot breakfast is provided. There is a jetted tub in the bathroom and the plumbing worked well. A hairdryer, iron, ironing board, and hangers are provided. The doors to the main house are timed to lock at a certain time, but you can get in with no problem with a code, if you choose to be out late. We could hear the fountain from inside our room, which was pleasant. The negatives are: When we arrived, the door was locked and no one responded to our knock. We finally noticed a sign saying to call and they'd come open the door. One of the owners arrived shortly and escorted us in. I didn't think this was entirely negative, but it was rather weird, so I feel it worth mentioning. He wasn't unfriendly, but he certainly wasn't overly welcoming or talkative, which leads me to believe he richly deserves the Basil Fawlty Award (pictured) that's in their downstairs hallway. When he had shown us our room, he announced the heat wasn't working upstairs. I don't like to be very warm, but the low was in the 40s and it got pretty chilly in our room that night. I'm not sure I would've rented out a room if the facilities weren't in order. We were saved by the down comforter on our bed. My fiancé is allergic to down, but we had no choice but to use it. There is a tub but no shower, and we are diehard shower takers. Fortunately, there was a spray handle on the tub. It was very awkward (and very chilly) standing in a tub and holding a handle while doing everything else. The water pressure was very poor through the handle so it took a long time to soap up and rinse. We also had to constantly wipe water off the walls as it wasn't set up to be a shower. Be aware that ice is provided but no water. Breakfast items included sage sausage, scrambled eggs, fried potatoes, dry cereal, and croissants. The dry cereal offerings were plain Cheerios and what appeared to be a bran cereal. I couldn't see any raisins in it. There was very little cereal and it didn't look like it would be a full bowl. The sausage was pretty good, but both the eggs and the potatoes were sautéed with bellpeppers and onions. While I like bellpeppers and onions, having them in 2 out of 3 hot items was a bit much. This breakfast will definitely not be for everyone, and we found it quite underwhelming. Things worth noting: The main house isn't the only structure on the property. The owners have their own separate residence, plus there are other detached buildings close by that are also available to rent. There were other people there, but they were all in the outside buildings. It was alarming to be in a giant, unfamiliar house all by ourselves. Make sure to walk the grounds at night. There are spotlighted areas, so it's not too dark. It was fascinating to see the statues and trees in a different light. The lighted nativity was an unexpected but delightful surprise. The wife, also an owner, is much more people friendly then her husband.

The pictures say it all… What used to be a beautiful home is now a dirty, smelly, joke of a bed and breakfast. From the moment we arrived to when we left, it was odd and confusing. It wasn’t very welcoming, and the room was underwhelming and dirty. We stayed in the Scheherazade suite, which looked promising in the pictures online. It smelled damp, felt creepy, and was not clean. As other reviewers have said, there was dust EVERYWHERE. The sheets and pillows were full of stains, the rugs were sticky, the jacuzzi tub was constantly leaking and crusty, and the toilet area had bugs on the floor and what appears to be a stain of handcuffs with bodily fluids next to it (Pictures to prove it). Very disturbing. We couldn’t even stay the night, it was too gross. When we went to the main house to complain and notify the staff we were leaving early, the bartender just said “It’s not my place to clean, I’m just here to serve drinks.” Which I understand, but the owners were nowhere to be found, per the bartender. Nor was there a manager on site. So we couldn’t even tell them ourselves. Based on how the owners respond to other bad reviews on Google and TripAdvisor, the likelihood of this review being met with sincerity and the chances of getting a refund since we didn’t even stay the night are slim to none. This place is very unorganized and unprofessional. We hoped to have a nice, romantic getaway at what could be such a beautiful B&B if the owners cared about the guests. But that sadly was not the case.

Well, after months have gone by of working with you people.... I was asked by the bride... the BRIDE.. if I ever called to discuss the UNPROFESSIONALISM preformed at this venue. It reminded me of the review I left... and HAS SINCE BEEN deleted... but I did notice that you commented on a review LEFT BY A GUEST OF THE WEDDING (not my assistant photographer) which you assumed that person was. So to talk about getting your facts straight... that’s a little embarrassing on your part. It’s hard for me not to find this humorous.... as a photographer... if you were one... you’d know you can’t reflect light off of NOTHING. In order to reflect light it must be REFELTED off of something. LOL!!! Then to say things, like I didn’t bring equipment... jokes on you because I did.... I was just suggesting you get subtle lighting where y’all have the ceremony’s because it would compliment the photos BETTER than just your plain Jane front yard.... also.,. The suggestion for the lighting came from the fact that your YELLING MOTHER IN LAW THAT BARLEY SPEAKS ENGLISH, was yelling at the bridal party to start walking... but ... THEY COULDNT SEE WHERE THEY WERE GOING... so.. that’s where the lighting suggestion came from.

Next.... I’m sorry you can’t take corrective criticism. It’s really sad. ALL WEDDINGS THAT MAKE THEIR PHOTOGRAPHERS STAY 7+ HOURS AT A VENUE, SIGN A CONTRACT THAT WE ACTUALLY A R E APART OF THE GUEST LIST AND WILL BE PROVIDED FOOD. lol so that being said.. the bride told us to go eat while she was eating because of course I’m sure no bride wants photos of them eating... but oh well! The food wasn’t good... I’m sorry your feeling are hurt! I said the vegetables were awesome.... but I guess that wasn’t enough for you and your small mind. Or.... maybe you didn’t remember since you deleted my review.... Lol and the disrespect that came out of your mouth in the previous comment that you used to respond to from the GUEST (that wasn’t my assistant photographer like you assumed) YOU BOLD FACED LIED AND SAID YOU SAW US.. the photographers.. and that guest I’m assuming, drink alcohol. You dirty dog. Just to let you know I called the guest that commented after getting her information, and she didn’t even drink that night. So idk who you think you are trying to EXCUSE YOUR AWFUL JOB and LIE saying we drank during the job and then going as far to tell the guest she was also seen drinking. THAT IS NUTS!!!

I’ve told everyone I know how delusional You and your mother in law are... how dare y’all lie about people who PAID to be there. How dare y’all treat guest like garbage. Disgusting!!

Start learning how to learn from your reviews you get, rather than commenting on them and insulting the person who reviews you. Y’all are GROSS!

And Juvenile? HA. I’m so confused. Quit being a CHILD and take corrective criticism... that wasn’t just given in my review but in multiples that I’ve read!!!!! Instead of taking it and learning from it and perfecting your venue.... you disrespect the people who try to help! WHAT A JOKE. You need Gordon Ramsay HOTEL HELL to come put you in check. Your just like every other hotel owner IN DENIAL... grow up and take responsibility for your actions. I saw your son following you around the venue that day, I sure hope you aren’t teaching him Your ways. GOD BLESS HIM! God bless every single future guest because there’s no reasoning with you!

For you think think that because my assistant photographer SCOOTING ONE OF YOUR “PERFECTLY FOLDED NAPKINS” OVER TO TAKE A PHOTO OF THE BRIDES RING BY THE FLORAL ARRANGEMENT, IS UNPROFESSIONAL OF US? Is that the best you’ve got!?

This is a horrible place. And your comments on the reviews have confirmed how crazy y’all really are.

** in response to your comment... ugh.. I just knew you couldn’t resist a bad review on your page... And yea that’s fine... well all your nasty remarks you’ve made towards guest say ALOT about you as well. I suggest you tell your friends and family to quit leaving fake reviews for business. False advertisement. ONCE...

We were with a group of friends (four couples staying in the four suites) for a quick couple's getaway. Several of us had stayed before - this would be my fourth visit. We arrived at 3PM. We were told that the rooms were not ready but that they would be cleaned very shortly. We were given the keys to the suites but the cleaning lady was still cleaning. We sat on the porch while we waited. She finally finished one room after waiting 45 minutes outside on the porch in the Louisiana heat during the hottest part of the day. Everyone went in the clean room to soak up the air conditioning and wait for the other rooms to be finished. ||||At 5:45, only two rooms were clean. My friend and I went to the main house to see how much longer until we were able to get in the rooms since we had dinner reservations and needed to shower and change. The manager (female owner) told us that there was nothing she could do about us not being able to check in because technically check in is between 3 and 6 and they are down a cleaning person. She also stated that if we needed to check in at a certain time, we should have called and informed them that we would be arriving at 3PM. After explaining that we did not understand why we would have to call to ensure check-in at 3PM since check in starts at 3PM, she started to get frustrated and continue to say, "I'm sorry there is nothing I can do." When asked if we would be charged the full amount for the room since we have been waiting for 3 hours to get in the rooms, she became loud and said we would be charged the full amount because check-in was from 3-6, however it was after 6 and the rooms were not ready. She said that we could use the bathroom in the main house to change. Unsure how we were to take a shower after sitting outside for almost an hour, but her reasoning was that the bathroom would suffice. ||||I asked to speak to someone else, and she said she would, "get my husband and he can deal with you." She then loudly stomped and yelled for her husband to come talk to us in the library and "we are not giving them a discount!" Her husband said he was sorry that there was nothing he could do but was more calm than his wife. After discussing our group's concerns, he agreed to let us have a late check out by three hours and gave us a bottle of champagne.||||After finally getting in the rooms, we were all very disappointed. The condition of the suites were very outdated, had a bizarre smell, and in poor condition. The grounds were overgrown with areas of grass and brush and looked like it had not had a thorough cleaning in years. Although it has been a few years since we last visited, the management and facilities were not what they used to be. Unfortunately, we will not be back. After paying almost $200 for the night (per couple), we were...
