My wife and I stayed at the Ashworth by the Sea for one night in April 2025. Our main reason for staying was that a family member was having a baby shower. Our experience was uneven. We called shortly before arrival to inquire about parking and we were told parking was valet only and it was built into the price. The staff was pleasant enough. We dropped our keys off and went to the baby shower for a few hours. All the staff involved with the shower were very polite. We had no issues there. After the shower, we checked into our room. Upon entry, the room appeared fine. It was plenty spacious with lots of storage (not that we needed it), and we had an ocean view, which was great because we did not ask for this. The bathroom was big with granite countertops and two sinks. Living room was uneventful with a decent enough modern smart tv and a couch. After that, it falls apart a bit. The floor was clearly not cleaned well. Walking around with bare feet, you could feel bits of dirt on the floor. It did not feel like it was vacuumed or swept before we arrived. The sheets were similarly not clean. It felt like the sheets were dropped on the floor or something before being put on the bed. You could feel miniscule bits of debris while sleeping in the sheets. The couch was similarly not clean either. It just felt like the type of thing that would never fly at a Marriot. The shower was okay. The actual shower stall is half open into the rest of the bathroom, which is odd. It did have nice dispensers for shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. A nice touch. But then one of the bath towels had a big old stain, possibly blood. We checked out at 11 and went on our way. The day after checkout, we saw a charge for $27 on our bank account. After inquiring about it, we found it was for the valet, which we were told was built into the price of the stay (see second paragraph). This resulted in an argument between my wife and one of the employees of the hotel, Jerry, who claimed he never said that and no one would ever say that there. And then said we must have heard that through Booking.com, which doesn't make sense for a hundred different reasons. Valet issue aside, there are plenty of other problems that would make me try another hotel before visiting the Ashworth again.

This is an awful hotel! They tried to scam you for an extra fee. We were asked to sign an agreement for a parking fee of $25 and a resort fee of $20. However, the resort fee was already included in the payment where we booked the room from booking.com. Their reaction was hilarious. First, they insisted the payment did not include the resort fee. Second, they said the resort fee and the parking fee are both charging for $25 instead of $20. Yet, there were like 100 pieces of agreement on the front desk, which stated that the resort fee is $20. After showing them the receipt we got from booking.com, they agreed to charge us parking fee only, without double charge the resort fee. By the time we checked out on the next morning, I asked for a receipt through email, and I never received them. So, I went back and asked for a printed receipt. Here comes the epic parts. The receipt shows that $25 charged for the resort fee, and they said it was actually charging for the parking fee because they are the same amount. After showing them the original receipt from booking.com again, they tried the same thing again, denied the resort fee was included, lied about the same amount of both fee, and used parking fee to cover the resort fee. They said it only charged me for the parking fee when I checked out. After arguing with them, they agreed to refund the "resort fee" and said they actually never charge parking fee from customer. This is a truly awful hotel that tried to scam visitors, where obviously all the stuff knows about the tricks they were playing. How is it possible that the parking fee is the same amount with the resort fee of $25, and they said it is just a typo on the agreement where they have over 100 pieces on the fron desk?

Rooms are a little small. Only a small fridge. Lil coffee maker, and no microwave. Ppl getting food out could use the microwave to warm up leftovers or small meals. The view out the side deck was very good.9 Front ocean views are more expensive and popular so not available as much. Other perps, has baggage carts and elevators. Valet parking is mandatory and have to pay $25 a night. Guys we dealt with were good and fast. Night and afternoon. Mornings altho were iffy. Had an appt for fishing boat trip, while others checking out too. Almost missed the boat which was a couple minutes down the rd. Waiting for couple ppl and being blocked in by other cars in back lot. Had a doc appt after next day checkout to get to, was better. Car in front, ready to go. Still, lot for not having control of your own car. And for $50 extra for parking 2 nights where most places have free parking. Liked the breakers bar and restaurant, good ppl, liked our bartender. Enjoyed watching several games on Sunday while there. One more issue would be no info in room about the other bar, restaurant, gym, pool. Etc. Room service, amenities for the hotel or how to get to them. Having a dustpan /broom in rm was a plus. Ppl talk/complain about sand in all hotel places. Even if don't go in the sand or the beach. Your shoes will track it in walking around anywhere outside, so I get it. Nice to be able to help with that in our own space. Wore crocs and fluffy indoor socks mostly, so not to track it in the bed later. Beds, pillows were comfy. Was clean. Only chair (comfy) had to be moved over near bed to see tv instead of sitting on bed in room.

Your hotel ruined my first family vacation. We were supposed to stay at your hotel 6/25-6/27 however due to our room we did not. This trip first of all was booked months prior to this due to a wedding for my sister in law that was supposed to happen. She ended up canceling her wedding and we were stuck with a 800$ room we no longer needed. I contacted the hotel and booking.com and no one was willing to help me or listen to my reasoning. Because of this we had lost our baby sitters and were forced to take our 3 kids, 5, 2, &4 months with us. We decided we would make the best of it and have our first family vacation. I never knew the amount of stress planning a vacation with 3 kids would be never mind stopping and going grocery shopping on our way. Plus trying to find dinner before arriving that both kids would eat. But we finally made it and were excited to 1. get out the car and 2. To start our mini vacation. We have had some difficult living situations for the past year due to covid and we all needed a break! Check in was great the host was very nice and so was the parking attendant. However our room was anything but nice. Not only was it extremely small but for the money we had to pay for it I was extremely disappointed. Then to find that there was a old cup on the balcony full of used cigarette butts, yellow stains on our sheets, and a sliding door that wouldn't lock just made it worse. We decided to try to make the best of it and head to the beach with everyone. We got all packed up and went to leave and our door wouldn't stay shut. No need for a room key in 216 since you can just push on the door and it opens right up. I was floored! Not only was the trip stressful to get there and then off to a bad start but we now had to deal with this! I went down and spoke to the front desk to inform we needed a new room or a refund because we couldn't stay in that room. I was told all they could do was a refund because they had no rooms.......I'm sorry but both my husband and I had to take time off of work for this vacation, we have kids who were so excited to go on a mini vacation with mom and dad and spend the weekend at the beach. Our trip was ruined! No other hotel anywhere near Hampton had vacancies! 6pm I'm struggling to find something, anywhere to try and salvage this. Nothing! Went to the hotels throughout the beach that said vacant but none could accommodate a family of 5. So here I am with a child crying his eyes out because were back home and me feeling like the worst mother in the world. I don't even know what else to say other than this is completely unacceptable. Worst experience I've ever had. Can't call our bosses and beg for the time lost to use for future trips, can't fix my sons feelings. This was an awful experience that could have been avoided! Save your money for something better!!!! Not to mention the awful quality of the rooms. Peeling wallpaper and cracked ceiling are something I don't expect to see when I'm paying...

This hotel is NOT a 3.9 star hotel it is highly misrepresented!!! And it's highway robbery staying here. I highly advise anyone looking, DO NOT BOOK HERE.

First, I used a third party (normally I've had fine experiences but this became a barrier). I paid almost $700 for two nights (once parking and fees were all said and done).

I arrived and the two front desk staff were highly unprofessional. Then, I get to my room (which clearly was an emergency backup room- I think they make a lot of money off of the third party bookings and make the reservations non-refundable so you can't get a refund when you have a crappy experience), and the toilet was full of mildew! Not just a ring, it was disgusting. The faucets were loose and dripped and the bathroom looked like it clearly needs some attention.

All over the bathroom, I could clearly see long dark hair all over floor and throughout the floor of the room.

Throughout my stay, I had to wear socks or shoes while in my room because walking on the floor after a shower from the bed to the bathroom just once, made my feet BLACK with dirt. This room was clearly not cleaned.

The walls are thin you can hear everything in the rooms next to you, and the staff start moving carts and slamming doors first thing in the morning- so good luck getting any sleep.

This hotel is seen as the nicest hotel on the strip, from what I heard from staff and locals, but it is NOT worth the price. It's basically like a dumpy motel room you'd find along a remote highway. I hear the only saving grace is their restaurant and a handful of non-temp staff (which by the way is how they operate, using temp staff- especially international students- which is why they're low staffed and inconsistent with quality, the training and quality expectations are non-existent), and you can dine at the restaurant without booking a room.

Upon checkout I spoke to the assistant manager about the issues and she said she could allow a partial refund. However, because I booked with a third party they couldn't give the refund directly to me, I had to process it through the third party I booked with. That process requires a written statement from the hotel, which was never provided despite them agreeing to over the phone. I called and emailed, and no response.

Save yourself the risk and don't use third parties to book on this strip, and pick anywhere else to stay. I wouldn't have left a review if they made it right, but they didn't, clearly their reputation and service quality is slipping, all to save a few bucks it seems. Save yourself...

The only reason why I’m giving the hotel 2 stars rather than 1 star is because all of the staff that we encountered were very friendly and sweet. The maintenance man (I believe his name was David) was so sweet and helped us out when we needed to borrow some tools to assemble our son’s beach wagon and didn’t have the tools with us. Unfortunately that was the only really positive part about staying here, besides the location. Location is great. We stayed for 2 nights.

We are a family of 3 (myself, my husband, and our 17 month old toddler). First it started off where we were waiting at least 30 minutes for a luggage cart to bring out things to our room. Most guests weren’t bringing them back and were leaving them in the hallways when they were done. They should have staff escort you with your luggage cart to your room to avoid this problem. When we got to our room, while it smelled clean when you first walked in, we noticed it was dirty. The floors clearly hadn’t been vacuumed and there was sand everywhere. Our son crawls at times and his hands were disgusting. The bathtub also had sand in it, and there was a leftover wet wash cloth in it from a previous guest that had used the shower, so it was clear the bathroom wasn’t cleaned. I went to the front desk and asked them to clean our room while we were away at dinner. When we came back, the room had been vacuumed, but there was STILL a wet washcloth in the bathtub. The room was also extremely small compared to how it looks online. We had to move some furniture around just to be able to fit our son’s pack and play for him to sleep in.

Our bed frame was horrible. The mattress was comfortable, but something was wrong with the bed frame so that every time one person moved even slightly, it sounded like grinding metal. So that woke each of us up numerous times during the night. We also heard VERY loud banging from something throughout the night on one of the nights, and then it was more intermittent the second night. So neither of us slept well at all for this trip. Thankfully the baby slept through it. The TV stopped working the morning we were supposed to leave. It wouldn’t connect to any channels. Also, it’s supposed to be a non-smoking facility and the hallway leading to our room absolutely stunk of cigarettes.

This hotel is expensive and did not live up to our expectations at all. The dirtiness alone was such a huge turnoff, and it was just downhill from there. We won’t...
