We found this motel online and thought from the moonlit photo that it would be a quaint gem that would afford us a great retreat between our daily and nightly travels in the hot springs area--we were sadly mistaken. We arrived late to find that the lobby for the motel is downtown--about a mile--as we were told by one of the owners. The sight of this place made you cringe, the photo was taken at night to hide the horror that was this motel. We saw a dead plant strategically placed in an abandon phone booth--horrible. We exchanged laughs in a means to hide our horror to each other. So we went to the bathhouses and decided to come back a little later for check in. We arrived at the front desk/organic market and found a friendly woman that needed to track down the owner who had our key. She informed us that staffing was an issue that day and it might take a moment. Five minutes later we had our key and the brief explanation of services. We headed over to our room where the maid was still cleaning our room at 5PM--not that all the cleaning solutions in the world would save this Titanic. We get out of our car and see a Vacuum that had to come with the motel when it was build. The maid apologized that she wasn't done yet and that she would have to track down some toilet paper. This was far from what was in the forefront of our minds. The smell was something that could only be described as years of neglect and carpet traffic that had manifested into mold. we found a bathtub and sink that had water stains, mold found in the seal of the 50"s style fridge, a dead flower in the windowsill, a bed that was about a comfortable as the floor, a dirty tablecloth, and duct tape used to hold on a lampshade and to mend the curtain on the door. We left to go eat and upon coming back to the motel found the owner and pointed out some of these things, he was quick to act and he did remove the flower and replace the tablecloth. However, he did comment and say that he was shorthanded on staff and it was a budget facility. I don't accept the excuse of being shorthanded or the header budget motel when you have to buy an air freshener to sleep in a room! The floor was so sticky we had to buy house shoes to walk at night to the batheroom....
Read moreAfter making reservations I received an e-mail with the details of my confirmation, and I noticed the same day that my credit card was drafted for the entire amount of my stay. When arriving at the Lynwood it was late and the office was closed at which time I called the number listed on the door. A young lady answered the phone and informed me that they did not have my reservation. In the mean time she came out of her room at the motel and was speaking with my husband and another couple that also had reservations. She phoned the owner stating there was a problem and indeed they had no recollection of our reservation and were unable to help. We had just riden 450 miles on a motorcycle and were exhausted and just wanted a place to rest our head. The place is disgusting, filthy and appeared to have people living there on a monthly basis. The young lady Ashley was very kind and apologetic and did indicate that this has happened before and the owners had left a month prior and moved to New York. We spoke with the police department and they stated this motel is in a "rough part of town" and a local pizza delivery were also not allowed to deliver to that motel. I have sent and e-mail to the owner and also called him on his cell phone to get a refund with no response. (I should have guessed). These people are scumbags trying to get peoples hard earned money. Please do not fall into the trap of reserving a place here or The B Inn which they are co-owners of. Our friends reserved there and it was even worse of a place then...
Read moreWe were attracted to the price and the description of a retro motel and gluten free breakfast. I think the owners have good intentions, but they are poorly executed. On the plus side was the price and the bed was newer, albeit a little too firm. The decor, however, is not retro; it is hideous. Colors and styles clashed and the "artwork" is distasteful at best. The curtains were thin and the room was bright and noisy--could not sleep well because of it. The room also lacked some of the basics like wash cloths, hand towels and soap. The windows were drafty and we were chilled most of the evening, even with the heat turned up all the way. ||||When we stayed there the website promised hot gluten-free flax pancakes with fresh squeezed orange juice for breakfast. Instead we got cold, stale muffins and they had no juice. At all. Again, big promise, no delivery. When I mentioned this to one of the owners, he said that they were not set up for that yet. I suggested that they not advertise something until they had executed and he got huffy and defensive and said I "would not find a more beautiful room for that price" and walked away. We were, to put it mildly, very disappointed that the room did not come close to their description, the food was sub-par, and the concern for guests abysmal. We will not stay there...
