Such an absolutely adorable motor inn. The room was beautifully remodeled in an art deco style. The bathroom was spacious with beautiful bronze fixtures.|The good:|Room and bathroom immaculate. Cleanest I've been in at this type of accommodation.|Beds and pillows very comfortable. Linens were of very good quality.|Dresser and bench in room very trendy yet mid century mod. |Good amount of outlets and USB ports. |The AC pumped ice cold. |Smart TV.|Nice porch outside. |Toilet paper had a welcome sticker on it! |Keyless entry to room. |Very close walk up to Bathhouse Row (though, the dilapidated buildings you walk past while en route gives a sense of depression). ||The not too great:|Bathroom is beautifully remodeled, but the pedestal sink does not lend itself to laying out your toiletries. In fact, there is no place to set your toiletries. Also, a hook for wet towels, robe, pajamas would also help. ||Towels could have been a bit bigger and could have dried you off better. ||Hotels.com did not mention a pool or breakfast, but in reading other reviews and looking at pictures I saw the breakfast area and the pool. We weren't missing those things, but they would have been welcomed amenities. The pool was at the front of the property and the beautiful fence around it has been torn down. This exposes the millions of rocks that have now filled in the pool. Wondering why the owners would have chosen to demolish their pool. I saw a video of the pool with cool, Americana-style floats. Looked fun and refreshing, especially when I was there since it was 98 degrees. ||The back of the property is a nice green space with a gazebo and charcoal BBQ grill and some chairs and tables. Unfortunately, the chairs and tables were just haphazardly strewn about. Doesn't look like the owners maintain the area as neatly as possible. ||This next point may not be suitable for every traveler. This hotelndoes not have a front desk. A day before your check-in, you get a keypad code sent to you. We had no problem with accessing our room and actually liked that we didn't need to stop at the front desk. However, the lack of a front desk completely takes away the hospitality aspect of traveling to a new city/state. There was no one to ask for directions or recommendations, etc. I did feel that I missed out on the human connection. There was a phone number taped to what may have been the front desk area, should you need to contact someone. We didn't reach out, so I cannot comment on the quality of communication.||All in all, this is a great little property. If ever I am in Hot Springs again, I would not hesitate to book a stay at Gold Inn. I loved the room and...
Read moreI am updating this review after we had a pretty rough entry which is outlined below. One of the owners was on staff to help me with all of the items I reported below. At 3 am he was able to fix the hot water (pilot light was out) and he offered to refund my stay. I insisted on paying for some of my stay and expressed to him my gratitude for the fast resolution to my concerns. I know sometimes not everything will go as planned and people make mistakes. I am just incredibly grateful for the fast turnaround and the transparency around how the problems manifested. The owner is doing a lot of work on the infrastructure of this property and I am confident it will continue to be a great spot to stop for future visits to the area. I stayed at this place before the pandemic when it was owned by a nice queer couple but it appears to be under new ownership. I arrived here and when i came into my room it was filthy from the last person and had not been cleaned. The property management staff were very kind and checked why this was the case. Apparently a glitch on the reservation calendar made them miss the room turn over. Not a big deal, we left and our room was ready a couple of hours after check in. However if we had not run into the staff as we were checking in we would have been stuck with a dirty room and no one to help rectify the situation. A few hours later as we were getting ready to turn in, I tried to shower but found there is no hot water to the room. There is a number to text management with my concerns; no response as of yet. I will update this post if there is any improvement in this situation.
Update: I did get a text message the next morning from management that the hot water was fixed and indeed it was. A member from the management team of the motel is going to meet with me later today. Having a hot shower helped and frankly I don't want to have to move my stuff to another room during our short 2 night stay. We are going to stick it out. I have edited my review rankings on account of the personal responses and attention I received from management and...
Read moreWe had a mixed bag during our stay. The motel is an older motor inn located close to downtown and Hot Springs National Park. The motel has been nicely renovated and was very reasonably priced for our mid-week stay in April. We booked room #17 which is full apartment with 2 king beds and full kitchen and small dining table located in an old house on the property separate from the traditional motor inn style building. Unfortunately, upon arrival it appeared that the room had either not been cleaned or only partially cleaned. There were wash cloths on the ground in the bathroom and the towels were damp. It was clear the place had not been vacuumed, and we saw lots of ants and other dead bugs in the kitchen. We brought this to the attention of the staff working on site and they acknowledged this issue and gave us room #16 for the night to give them time to clean our room and spray for bugs. Room #16 was very nice, located in a small “cottage” on the property. We moved back into room #17 the next morning. It was cleaner than it had been but still wasn’t vacuumed the best - still some particles on the floor, a beer can under a bed, and clump of fur in a corner. Ants in the kitchen remained a problem for the rest of our stay which led us to avoiding using the kitchen which was one of the main reasons we booked this room type. Other than those issues we had a good stay; the location is in an older section of town but great location to explore the town and National Park. The onsite staff were very nice, and we received quick responses to text messages to resolve issues (the check-in process is done via email with a door lock code provided which we...
